I know they airbrushed last season’s lot into perfection as well, but it looks way overdone on the Will pics and it doesn’t look great IMO. And I dunno what expression they told him to have, but his face just looks devoid of emotion and like he’s half asleep. :-/

in the original snow queen story there was a mirror that broke into shards that was pretty important

Yeah, it was a mirror that reflected things as only being evil, then the mirror broke and became tiny shards which got into the hearts and eyes of people all over and made them only see and do bad. Then the little boy in the story got a shard in his eye and turned against his best friend and ended up in the custody of the Snow Queen.

(When he disappeared, everyone figured he’d died in the river. One of the few faint hopes I have for this season is that they make Will relevant by tying his (supposedly?) drowned-in-the-frozen-lake sister into the Snow Queen story.)

Eventually his best friend finds him and her tears melt away the evil mirror shard in his eye and yay happy ending.

There’s another mirror reference too, the Snow Queen calls her frozen lake the Mirror of Reason. When they brought Sidney back, I figured there was gonna be some parallel whatever between Regina and her bad Mirror and the Snow Queen and the mirrors in that story.

My computer is being a butthead and not letting me highlight text so I can just quote one little bit of stuff, so, Slurpeez post a few pages back, about the writers being SF fans at heart which explains the dodgy writing of CS, yup, just wanted to agree with that, and add that sometimes I do feel a bit sorry for them. They dreamed up the core of this story over about 10 years. Rumple and his lost son and his quest to find him. The daughter of Snowing, sent to a strange land, but she finds her parents in the end. And that son and daughter finding each other and falling in love and starting their own family against all odds. For a decade this is what A&E had been pondering for their story. And it started out so well. Then things happened and the network dictated that they throw out the original premise of their story and go a different direction even though it made so little sense. I know it’s the nature of the business so they were probably anticipating having to make changes along the way, but a change that drastic has gotta suck. I do appreciate that they gave us the “home” scene in the finale. It underscored what their original idea had been. I do appreciate that they ended up giving us a rejigged SF happy ending for Will and Ana instead, on the show where the network execs didn’t have as much input, (but then the network wanted Will on the show they DO have all the input in, so that might end up ruining A&E’s attempts at doing the right story on WL in the end anyway). I do think that A&E really wanted to keep on with their long planned SF fairy tale. But the way they’ve handled the change in direction, the way they wrote everyone so suddenly OOC, the dismissive way they’ve spoken in interviews, doesn’t endear me to them, so the moments when I feel bed for them are very rare.

There was a time when threads about titles and little tidbits would have generated more conversation than one could think possible; when Slurpeez and Phee and I (and others!) would have been doing research into possible title meanings and literature and symbolism. Now? I frankly can’t be bothered.

Ah, back in the old days when we had faith that the writers cared about the little things. When we believed that they put all that research and thought and care into all aspects of the story, so that made us want to do it too to try and figure out where the show was going. The problem is, the more the fandom did that, the better ideas the fandom came up with, and the more lacklustre the actual show became. And now we’re at a point where we have no belief left that the writers have that level of care for these things so much that the significance will ring true in the show and contribute to the ongoing story in a meaningful way. So really, what’s the point of us putting in the effort to figure it all out if it’s all for nothing? *sigh* I miss the old days.

I have still been reading spoiler threads, but most of the time whatever I want to post as a reply is just bitter and/or snarky, so I refrain. :-p

*hugging the last several pages and marrying Slurpeez’s posts*

The missed opportunities with CaptainFire make me wanna throw stuff. As with other things, they did such a beautiful job of setting up complex relationships with loads of potential for emotional development, then they just totally dropped the ball. Like, they obviously know how to set these things up, so why do we not get the follow through? Urgh, those clowns frustrate me to no end.

As far as Will goes, I’m just expecting the worst, that they’re gonna retcon the end of WL. I figure WL played out in a similar time frame to S2, so Alice and Cyrus were getting married around the end of S2, then according to the flashforward, Will and Ana went back and ruled as White King and Queen for forever, so any way they get Will back in SB is gonna be a retcon. I wouldn’t mind it if it’s a situation like Elizabeth Mitchell is the Snow Queen who Will discovers was involved somehow in his sister’s death, so he pops off to SB temporarily to take care of some unresolved stuff. But I do fear that we’ll just get Will as if he’s been in SB all along and it’ll be “Ana who?”

PS. PUCK IS ON A MUG!!!!

Am I the only one that thinks this might be a flashback to the missing year in NYC? A and E said we’d see more from the missing year in the most recent “hot questions” article.

I could see that. As long as his crush isn’t a thing Emma knew all about because then it’d feel like a topic that should have come up back when Henry wanted to go back to NYC and it’ll kinda bug me that it didn’t. Lily’s description does sound like a potential New Yorker.

That moment when you see in the filming thread that Emma’s gonna pull a gun and yell “WHY THE HELL ARE YOU FOLLOWING ME” and you wonder WHY THE HELL DIDN’T THAT SCENE HAPPEN IN 3B?

That’s totally a Snow Queen dress that Elizabeth Mitchell is wearing.

I like to give Colin the benefit of the doubt, some leeway in interview answers because I feel kinda bad for him having to work with the dreck he’s ended up being given, but…Colin…really?

When he comes across Neal as a rival suitor, his quest to get Emma’s heart sort of blinds him to the fact that this is the same boy that he was about to open up to, to become like a surrogate father for. Towards the end he realizes that and realizes that there’s more to life than being so blinded by one thing and one quest and he realizes, again, that he could have an open heart for somebody that he needs to care for.

Did that moment of realisation when his blinders came off and his heart softened come before or after the final time he saw that boy he used to love and accused him of being a villain? RLY?! *SIGH*

I’m guessing they randomly suggested Lucy Lawless because she’s a Kiwi so they figure the accent is a good enough match, which…no it’s not really. LOL

Anyway, I’m glad they’re finally gonna tell that story of Belle’s life before she ever knew Rumple.
