I gather from everyone’s comments that they basically set it up both emotionally and logically that he could come back, but then they left him dead thanks to yet another OOC moment? What even?! *SIGH* Good thing I have both chocolate and alcohol to consume when I watch it.

About that latest A&E article, the things that jumped out to me were “we’re going back: to fix the past and find the future” and calling the finale an “emotional re-set”. Both could potentially apply to Emma being reunited with a resurrected Neal. They could probably potentially apply to others things too, but I’m just sayin’.
Good to know, Phee. Snow Drifts is clearly set up as a SF (er… Snow Falls) parallel, so here’s hoping!!
I gave up taking notes for potential parallel stuff because I’d have been pausing it too much. If it’s all still relevant after the ep airs, I’ll get into it some more. Seriously though, Snow Falls is the ep where Snowing meet when she steals from him. *Emma voice* Oh come on.
Decided to re-watch Snow Falls in preparation. 10mins in and my brain is screaming potential for parallels with Snow Drifts IF they bring Neal back.
It’s the ep with MM’s line about if TL were easy we’d all have it.

(Figured I’d post about these things now in case they won’t be relevant after Snow Drifts airs, and I just had to mention them at some point because they’re making my brain splodey right now.)
We are simply unhappy with the way the story and the character is being written. It is important to discuss the character because eventually the writers will be sending a message to the audience using these characters. So If the show is portraying a character as a hero while there has hardly been any efforts to redeem the character fully (to put the character on the redemption road because he wants to change and become a good person to right his wrongs, and not because he wants to get the girl), I think it’s important to point these things out because a show about happy endings should not be sending the message that you can easily get your happy ending (even easier than everyone else) even if you haven’t learnt form your past mistakes and haven’t redeemed yourself.
THIS! This show has sent some very positive messages, but it’s not ALL sunshine and roses, and as media consumers, we’re not obligated to just accept what we’re given without voicing criticism, especially if it’s an issue we feel strongly about on a personal and/or moral level.
Can I believe that they’d always intended for Hook to fall for Emma? Yes. Due in no small part to the fact that Eion has mentioned that originally the plan was to do a triangle with August instead, but things changed. I toyed with liking WoodenSwan for a little bit, but ended up deciding that IMO they had more of a sibling vibe. But there were times where August would look at her a certain way and I can believe they were laying groundwork for a story line where he was gonna totally fall for her. Instead we got Hook falling for her. WoodenSwanFire or CaptainSwanFire, the common denominator is SwanFire, and the third wheel was intended to cause a speedbump for them getting together. That was the plan from way back. Unless and until the finale shows me differently, as of right now, I still believe that to be the case, because I don’t believe they’ve been telling a story for Hook and Emma that would be believable as a reciprocal romance. Unrequited love, absolutely, but if they have Emma suddenly in love with him in the finale, it will feel like a complete contradiction to Emma’s characterisation thus far IMO. I’ve seen tumblr posts from people who don’t even ship SF who have said that an SF reunion was obviously where the show was headed up until very recently, and the change of direction if they do put CS together is a ridiculous spur of the moment change.
SF and CS are the antithesis of each other in several ways, not the least of which is that Neal has made it clear that he just wants her to be happy, even if it’s without him, but Hook is constantly swooning and trying, and won’t give it up even though she’s shown no interest. The healthy relationship is the one where the guy just wants the girl to be happy, and that will bring him peace and happiness too, even if she’s not with him. “If you love someone, set them free,” isn’t a well known saying for nothing, and that’s the attitude Neal had with Emma, both in present day and in the past. So if we see that the show is potentially planning to endorse the opposite set of morals that aren’t healthy in our eyes, we’re allowed to be mad about it and vent that upset. And because the issues of the conflicting ships are so closely tied together, it’s inevitable that we’ll discuss the opposing side here.
As far as the ACS blog goes, I don’t think it’s “toxic”. It doesn’t exist in an attempt to recruit more people to the anti-CS cause and generate widespread hate. It exists as a place for people to vent and rant about something they strongly dislike in a safe environment with like minded people. I’m not an active tumblr user, I don’t agree with everything that’s been said on ACS, but I ain’t gonna lie, I’ve sent asks to ACS when there are times that something is driving me so nuts that I just need to rant in a place where there isn’t a language censor filter and I know that other people will get what I’m mad about. There’s also an anti-SF tumblr blog, and I’m sure CSers from this site would have sent messages to it for the same reasons I’ve sent messaged to anti-CS.
Hook was one of my fave characters last season, and even up through the first few eps of this season. I think the story line they’ve given him since then has been a great disservice to the character and a waste of Colin’s talents, and it’s been a detriment to the show as a whole, and that’s a disappointing thing when a character (and show) you used to really enjoy has devolved so much in your eyes. They could have done something far more interesting and compelling with Hook IMO.
I don’t wanna get too attached to ShatnerMerlin crack in case it doesn’t happen. But I’m attached.
I like the idea of Camelot because it’s FTL-based, and after the NL and Oz detours it’d be nice to go back to just FTL for a while.
Cinders, that would be a cool storyline for how they mess up Snowing meeting and have to fix it! There is however a promo pic of Charming holding the pouch and holding the ring up and standing facing Snow though, so I’d been working on the idea that she does still rob him and Emma and Hook don’t screw things up until after that? I do prefer the idea that they prevent Snowing meeting at all, just dunno how it’d work with that promo pic?
As for Hook punching Hook, I think it’s just a case of him busting random people in his cabin and one of the people looks like him so there must be somerhing shady going on so he punches him.
