ParticipantThis morning I did that thing where you half wake up, but still have your eyes closed hoping to fall back asleep. I’d been dreaming about something weird that it’d take ages to explain, but anyway it had NOTHING to do with OUAT, but lying there half asleep, randomly in my head I kept hearing Regina say “it’s magic”, over and over and over, and I was thinking “Shut up Regina so I can get back to sleep.” Then my phone rang. My ringtone is Charley’s Girl.

Participantseriously?!
Oh yeah, he deleted the tweets where he agreed with the person who said it was a bad message about saying no 99 times but then saying yes. When someone questioned why he deleted…
@BeyondVioletRay it means why state the obvious.

…say WUT? So it’s not worth tweeting anything agreeable about anything positive because DUH? Well alrighty then.

ParticipantIt’s not the same compass. Zelena’s compass matches the Witches’ table (and chairs) in Oz, with the alchemical signs of the elements at each point, instead of directions.

Wonderland compass…

Compass they used to get back to SB from FTL…

Hansel and Gretel’s compass from True North…

Lots of compasses, but none match the other.

ParticipantDo you know what “kindred spirits” means to me?
Two people who felt abandoned, unwanted, finding each other against all odds. Two people who know darkness and pain and sadness and loss. Two people just looking for someone to need them because it is no longer a feeling their accustomed to.
They toss the words “kindred spirits” around to describe Emma and Hook constantly and it doesn’t fit. Because they’re not. They went down two entirely different paths, found two different ways of dealing with their pain, and they didn’t find each other against all odds, Hook was planted into their group by Cora. He was a plan. It wasn’t fate. It wasn’t two lost souls finding each other in the middle of a ravaged land.
Emma and Neal were always kindred spirits. Two lost, damaged people finding each other without even being aware of their connection, finding love in a hopeless situation, making a family and a home out of a yellow bug they both stole. They were beaten down by life and they found happiness. They lost each other for some greater good that neither of them understood the extent of and then they found each other.
They are kindred spirits. They are the daughter of light and the son of darkness, they completed each other in a way that neither of them understood at the time. They made a son with the heart of the truest believer. They created a safe place when they thought it didn’t exist. They protected each other and the ones they loved, over and over again.
Just stop calling Emma and Hook kindred spirits because they don’t fit into that category for me. Stop trying to justify killing a character for the sake of a live triangle by tossing around words and placing meaning on a relationship that feels forced.
Neal and Emma could have been a great love story. It had all the factors that made it beautiful and real and meaningful. Just because one pirate who wears too much leather became more popular than he was supposed to is no excuse for ending something that could have been amazing. It is wasted potential and no amount of throwing around the words “kindred spirits” is going to change what has already been done.

ParticipantI have #hope that there will be an outcry from the fans and the media about your (hopefully) unintentional promotion of misogyny and violence against women. That the women on your writing staff calmly explain to you that having characters who make lude and suggestive comments to the female characters, who encroach on their personal space is unacceptable and a far cry from the romantic vision you constantly promote in the media.
I have #hope that you will realize the detriment that perpetuating these kind of sexist and abusive character traits on the show does to a generation of little boys and girls growing up who see these actions in the media and grow up thinking this is how things are, that this is okay, that this how men and women are supposed to interact with each other.
THIS SO MUCH. And it’s not just kids, but everyone of any age who shouldn’t be led to believe that that type of behaviour is acceptable and should be rewarded. Those tweets that Adam sent to someone who had brought up this topic, he ended up deleting them, and I dunno what that means exactly, but it suggests that maybe there was a PR meeting, so maybe the voices of those already speaking out about it ARE being recognised as existing.
In one of the interviews, they said something like how Hook would face some big decisions in the finale. If that’s to be believed, then perhaps we will actually see him have an attitude adjustment and back off to give Emma some space and respect. But if we instead see Emma just suddenly have a change of heart and concede to him despite all of her previous non-interest, then I hope they get called out on it. I hope media sites will report on the problematic nature of it, and that A&E will be forced to pay attention and respond.

ParticipantJust saw that interview answer where they said that BTTF is their fave script ever and one they wish they’d written themselves. How can they write an homage to BTTF and not include death aversion, which is a recurring theme? Halfarsed homage = DO322. Legit homage = MO322.

ParticipantI had that exact same thought when I watched BTTF 3 tonight. You totally read my mind. The name on the headstone changed and then vanished. Hmmmm
Yes, that’s right, the name changed from Doc’s name to Clint Eastwood (the alias Marty was using) then events changed again and the headstone dissapeared entirely.
Aaaaannnd now I’m getting visions of Neal’s headstone vanishing and the rose that Henry laid on top dramatically falling to the ground in slow motion.

Participantwhy would Hook be hitting himself? Hook should still be in neverland now!
They’ve never confirmed before exactly when Hook left NL and returned to FTL before the Curse. So they could put him back in FTL at the time of Snow Falls and not contradict anything they’ve shown previously.
We’re going to be told how Hook got to our world after the 3B Curse, so assuming that has something to do with the JR, it could explain why they’re on the ship in the finale, trying to find a way to get back. Dunno that a thing that could make regular world jumping possible could also make time jumping possible though, so whatever idea they have by going to the ship may not work. Anyway, it would at least explain why they’re there so Hook can punch himself.

ParticipantSlurpeez and Phee: I would love that, but it wouldn’t make up for 318 and Eva/Cora/Leo –nothing can, short of confessions from Ghost Cora that she lied when she gave Snow visions.
Oh even if they did pull off some fabulously BTTF-esque resurection for Neal, it wouldn’t make me roll my eyes any less at all the nonsense that has been 3B. But at least I’d be able to re-watch 3B without the same level of resentment I feel for certain plot points at the moment.

ParticipantSpeaking of BTTF, that promo pic is suddenly reminding me of the photo Marty had of him and his siblings where they all faded out of the photo as the past was going wonky. But then Marty fixed the past and the photo went back to normal with everyone restored. I’m quite sure I’d be giving the promo goons FAR too much credit if I thought this was foreshadowing instead of cruelty. I’m just sayin’, now that idea is wedged in my brain, I can’t unsee the similarity.
That thinking fits so nicely with what I was pondering the other day, how in BTTF we see a name vanishing from a grave headstone as events get changed and Doc’s death is prevented in 1885. I got this whole image in my head of them showing Neal’s headstone with his name vanishing. Actually, doesn’t the headstone end up vanishing completely in the pic Marty had?
Stupid movies with so much death aversion giving me too many potential loophole ideas so I just can’t quit.
