Participantslurpeez, your theory from several pages back is made of WIN. Seriously, the plot point of a letter being left in the hope of changing events so someone’s life can be saved in the future is such a major plot point in BTTF that I’ll honestly be a bit surprised if they don’t use it on the show. If Hook’s the one to write the letter, it’d be a full circle moment from Neal sending him the dove note. It would show him attempting to SAVE the kid as redemption for having given him up in NL. It would prove that he’s genuinely over the vendetta against Rumple if he sneaks him a note to genuinely help him in the future. I can just imagine Rumple tearing up a letter from Hook the same way Doc tore up Marty’s letter, only to stick it back together later and take the precautions to prevent the death. GAH, it would all work so beautifully, if only I could trust that the writers really might do it. *sigh*

ParticipantHere is how I understood that interview by A&E.
FWIW, the question they were asked was if they always planned for Hook to be in love with Emma. Semantics perhaps, but that doesn’t necessarily mean “Emma and Hook in a relationship”.
As for the new promo pic, it’s so incredibly lazy, and I wish I could say I was surprised, but knowing the history of the goons who run that promo junk, I’m really not. *sigh*

ParticipantThere’s a group here called Justice Crew, and their new song Que Sera came on the radio just before while I was washing the dishes, and as I started to sing along (it’s one of those annoyingly catchy pop songs LOL), it made me think of this thread, so…
At the end of the day,
Some you win, some you don’t,
So I’m glad that I’m here,
With some friends that I know,
Always there with a smile,
Sayin’ you’re not alone,
Singin’ la, la, la, la, que sera.Phee
ParticipantI reckon he switched it after the proposal scene.
I think Zelena called all her monkeys Beautiful One. I thinks its the OUAT equivalent of “my pretty” from the 1939 film.
Yeah, I dunno if “my pretty” was in the book or if it was just a movie thing? If it was a movie thing, then they probably couldn’t legally use it, so “beautiful one” is their take on it.

ParticipantInteresting note: the barrier in which Will has been imprisoned looks like the triangle that was imprinted upon Neal’s hand.
That is interesting!!
“Unless you want to spend the rest of eternity under a snow drift, you’d better start talking.”
“Snow Drifts” is the title of 3×21. I have no idea what it means, if anything, but it seemed kind of relevant to this episode title.
If they did bring him back, it would be awfully coincidental (or not) that the ep that had events that set things in motion to make his return possible, had a title that matched a line he said in the ep where he died.

ParticipantBut yeah like I said, we don’t know yet if that’s what they are going to do. So I am simply going to wait and see.
As am I. If it turns out that they DO go there, then I’ll be full of all the rage and disappointment. But the more I think about it, the more it does feel like 3B has been setting Hook up to be Emma’s Toto. Don’t remember which podcast it was on because I’ve listened to a few, but someone somewhere mentioned the WW wanting to drown Toto in WoO, and I looked it up because I couldn’t remember the details, but get this…The WW tells one of her Monkeys to throw Toto in the river to drown, unless Dorothy gives up the powerful shoes. Like, if that’s not a parallel to Zelena telling Rumple to drown Hook to make Emma give up her power, then I’ll eat Zelena’s hat. Seriously! And now Hook is accompanying Emma through a tornado of a portal to another land where she’ll have to discover “home”. And Dorothy was great friends with Toto, he was her constant companion, but that’s where their relationship ended (obviously). So if they’re already paralleling it, then the logical conclusion is that there won’t be romance between them. Many people commented on the complete absence of Toto in the flashbacks. Maybe they didn’t want to push it so far as to actually, visually parallel Hook with a puppy dog, even though they’re doing it metaphorically.

ParticipantWas just posting in the Sneak Peek thread and had an OMG-do-I-dare-to-dream moment, but didn’t want to risk starting a debate over it because I know it’s a much debated issue, so figured I’d just post it here instead. I was commenting on how it didn’t make much sense for Hook to be there with Emma and Rumple because DUH Hook and Rumple have issues and Rumple probably wouldn’t want to help Hook in any way, so why is he present for that conversation? Then I realised that Emma doesn’t know how their history all fits together yet (that’s the bit that I know has been debated, some people assume she’s totally put it together, but I’m on the team that maintains that it has never been clarified that she’s fully aware). So, do I dare to dream that this situation might result in an argument between Rumple and Hook where that full truth actually comes out, and Emma has a O_______O moment because, “Wait…your Milah…was Rumple’s wife…was Neal’s mother?!” *squashing down my dream and getting an elephant to sit on it because now I really sorta need for this to happen because it’s the perfect opportunity*

ParticipantSince Emma met Rumple in the past, surely Rumple would remember meeting her in the past in present day? That’s the problem with time travel, changing the past should’ve affected the present day stuff because even though Emma hadn’t gone through the portal yet, she was going to so her future actions should’ve affected the past which would’ve altered the present.
OK, so in typing out a response to this I twisted my brain into a knot and think I ended up changing my mind. I was gonna say that it’d be believable if when Rumple heard Emma’s name in the Pilot, it not only reminded him of who she was, but also reminded him of having met her in the past, and he’d just never mentioned it on the show in present day. But I don’t think that’s possible, because present day Rumple wasn’t aware that time travel was possible…which he would know if he remembered having met Emma in the past.
In a similar sense, that theory that Snowing named Emma after herself because they met her in the past, if that’s the case, then they can’t really remember having met her in the past because we should have had an “OMG WE NAMED YOU EMMA BECAUSE WE MET A PERSON NAMED EMMA AND IT WAS YOU,” moment of realisation at some point after they got back their memories, because you don’t forget the face of a person you named your child after.
So, I wanna say that whatever Emma does to affect things in the past, whatever interactions she has with people, after she leaves, people don’t remember her having been there, even if they might have it tucked away in their subconscious somehow, (especially if they want to tell us that Emma is named after herself but her parents never realised that in SB).
Also, why is past Rumple not trying to kill Hook because at that point in time they were very antagonistic to each other?
Honestly, I’m a bit surprised that Hook is even in the scene. If you wanna convince Rumple to help you, it’ll probably up your chances if he DOESN’T know that he’s also helping Hook of all people. I do hope that’s addressed.
Maybe the the time travel is set to send the person who enters it first back to a time just before their conception. If Zelena had gone through then it would have brought her back to an earlier time but since Emma went through …. Just a guess.
Could be. We know that Zelena wanted to take Eva out of the equation, but we don’t know exactly when she was planning to go back to. Cora and Jonathan still had to meet though, because Zelena wouldn’t exist otherwise, so I guess she just wanted to go back to that day when Eva overheard them, and stab her dead before she got the chance to tell anyone?
I think it’s probably just a case of the time portal being directed by the person who falls into it, just like other types of portal work. We know that Emma’s searching for home, (she says it to Hook in the Canadian promo, which I’m guessing is a scene that comes before the portal), her trip back in time is a means for her to discover that, she was probably thinking about wanting to go home and her parents as she fell, so it dumped her at the point in time when her parents met. I’m not really expecting to get an actual explanation in show, but that assumption works for me.

Participantdid you notice Regina’s comment? “nothing is worth the loss of a child” she said it. the writers wrote it. it’s IN the story. and you think they will just leave it like that?
NO.
The problem is that many of us have had our faith in the writers pretty much shattered. So while on the one hand, yes, these things are absolutely in the show even after Neal’s death, on the other hand, his death in the first place is nonsensical judging by what had been in the show beforehand. Once you feel like someone’s lied to you, which is how many of us feel about A&E right now, going back to believing them again right away is a big ask.
