When Hook was teaching Henry how to cheat, that’s when I knew there’s no future for CS.

There’s a much bigger picture happening here, and I think we’re just going to have to wait to see how they conclude all this.

It’s more about Henry than Emma, and Henry deserves better.

Agreed. Everything they’re doing with Hook right now is painting him in a worse and worse light as a suitable suitor. He’s teaching Henry to cheat so you always win, Emma’s opinion of him is changing based on something good he let her believe about a situation, when the truth about the situation is that he chose to kill a man instead of doing the right thing that Emma thinks he did.

And don’t get me wrong, I LIKED that they had Hook kill Blackbeard because PIRATE so it felt in character, which Hook hasn’t felt to me in ages. But would they seriously be writing him this way if they’re intending to make him the TL of the freaking Saviour?

A mere year ago, Hook had the option of letting a man live, and losing his ship as a result, but he’d help Ariel find Eric because Blackbeard would tell where he was. The choice Hook made, he made Blackbeard walk the plank, sliced him to make him bleed to attract the sharks, then shoved him into the water and there was a feeding frenzy as Blackbeard was eaten alive. All while Ariel stood there all, “WTF man, you said you’d help me find Eric?!”

Like I said, I’m OK with that because PIRATE, and pirates defend their ships 1000% because there’s a special relationship there, and the JR was the only love that Hook felt he had left (Sidenote: the REAL ship that came out of this ep a winner was Flook, because he displayed intimate knowledge of where the loose floorboard was on the deck and he was proud of knowing those floorboards so well. #OTP). So I have no issue with Hook having killed Blackbeard, or choosing his ship over some mermaid he’d just met, or even lying to accept credit for the Eriel reunion. That lie fit in perfectly with the earlier scene where he taught Henry to cheat to always win. He held back the truth, and won a little more of Emma’s favour.

The only problem I have with it is people (including the writers if they make this relationship happen) thinking that this portrayal of Hook makes him an acceptable romantic partner for the freaking born of pure TL Saviour, and an acceptable father figure for her son. Because, just, NO. And I’d like to think that the writers, for all their faults, aren’t that oblivious to how they’re portraying Hook as being a bad example, and they’re deliberately writing him that way because in the end nothing will come of it.

They showed him selfishly choosing the love of his ship (JR) over being a better man and selflessly helping to save Eric and reunite him with his lost love. Frankly, it feels a bit like a setup where he’ll again be faced with the option of choosing the love of his ship (CS) over doing something selfless to save another man’s life and reunite him with his lost love. And because we’ve seen the situation with him, Ariel and Eric and how he made the wrong choice, it would be a much needed, believable and powerful redemptive moment when he makes the RIGHT choice in a similar situation with Emma and Neal.

That’s how the story progression would make sense to me, anyway. Whether or not the writers have that level of competence right now, I’m still flipping a coin on that one.

New headcanon: Emma knows Hook was lying all through that scene in Snow’s apartment, and she said the line about not caring what he was keeping from her from the missing year in an attempt to get him to confess, seeing as how straight up asking him hadn’t worked earlier in the ep. Yep, this is what I have to believe in order to be able to deal with her words about not caring about the past.

The forum ate my old post where I’d quoted 6 or 7 chunks of text and I’m too lazy to re-do it, so I’ll just say that I feel you, all of you, all sides of the argument. Half of my brain is saying, “They’re deliberately building him up to be a bad option because nothing is gonna come of it,” and the other half is saying, “But do you really trust the writers to deal with these issues sufficiently?”

This isn’t the Emma Swan I love.

    THIS. *WEEPS*

So in 318 we have Cora’s ghost. In the finale we have Marian. And we know they wanted Jamie Dornan back. If we don’t see Neal again in some way, shape or form before season’s end, I may or may not pitch an EPIC fit, because they do seem to be working with a theme here.

♫ when there’s something strange in the neighborhood who ya gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS! ♫

    charmed or supernatural esque. ehehe

Oh it’s SO Charmed, which is rather fun, considering Rose. 😉

Seance type stuff is the stuff I find the most creepy. Seems from this footage that perhaps creepy stuff starts happening in Regina’s house first, and then they do the seance as a result of that, so perhaps it’s more like Cora trying to reach them, as opposed to the other way around.

They would have made such a dynamic couple. I’m torn between enjoying the scenes we got, and lamenting the scenes we could have had. *sigh*

I know this is FakeAriel, but why do I get the feeling that this will appear in a frillion fanarts (and vids, someone out there needs to make shiny new Hookriel vids with the shiny new footage)…

Finally got around to watching it. The bit that seriously pissed me off was Emma saying she was over living in the past. Neal’s barely cold in the ground for 24 hours and they gave Emma that line? REALLY? That’s just…I can’t even with how cold that line was. The only way it will be even remotely acceptable is if it was foreshadowing for her past coming back to her (again).

They did make a point of Regina saying that even things she couldn’t do, Emma probably could, and then they proved it. So really, all magical bets could potentially be off where Emma is concerned. Things that aren’t supposed to be possible she can still do them. *cough*turningbacktimeandraisingthedead*cough*

Here’s the thing about Emma smiling at Hook and inviting him along to dinner at the end…the only reason she was starting to see another side of him is because of the LIES he told them about the situation with Eric and Ariel. If they’re seriously gonna leave things like that and not have Emma find out he lied to her face to protect his own arse, (knowing that they’d quite rightly not think much of him if they knew the truth, that he didn’t help reunite Ariel with Eric at all, he chose to kill Blackbeard and take his ship back instead), then that is a joke. Would they seriously allow Emma to fall for the fradulent version of someone and never have her find out about their lies? The way they’re writing the story right now, who the hell knows, but I’d like to think that they wouldn’t do that to Emma. She’s their heroine and she deserves an HONEST love. This episode continued to paint Hook as being selfish and secretive, (and I love his arsehole pirate side, so I actually enjoyed him quite a bit in this ep), and the side that Emma started to see in a different light wasn’t genuine, (she accused him of being modest in that situation, I mean come on) so I’m still unconvinced that they’re gonna end up together. If they’re gonna keep piling up Hook’s secrets and lies, sooner or later, they’ll all have to come tumbling down around him. I hope. And then Emma will be pissed that he’d kept so much from her. I hope. That would be the logical way to have this story resolve itself, without assassinating Emma’s character.
