ParticipantI could see Zelena doing something that eliminated Regina, but it would have to be something more involved than just changing that one fact of Regina’s birth and thus altering history and creating an AU. If Hook’s a straight up, well bred gentleman in this version, like his costume might suggest, that means no pirate, no Milah, no Hook, no NL, so he shouldn’t be alive to be able to interact with everyone else because he lived a couple of centuries beforehand.
I could see it if Zelena cast a curse that created a new FTL reality in present day though, in which peoples’ status got swapped around, meaning that Zelena’s probably Queen and Regina’s a peasant in some far away land, like Zelena was in Oz.

ParticipantWe know both were planned since the pilot – it is written all over that episode, the flying monkeys in the book, the 3263757 SF things. I know I keep referencing this and going back to it, but it just – no. You don’t throw that away in one episode. Network or no, fanbase or no. You don’t.
While I don’t have supreme confidence in their competence any more, the thing that gets me is that they’re effectively taking 1000s of hours of her their own hard work, tossing it in the crapper and hitting the flush button, and seriously, who does that?
btw did you know that Henry was played by a guy named Charley?
I did NOT know that, and it’s sorta made my day. Everyone has wondered about the lyrics to Charley’s Girl and what significance they could have, but maybe it really is just all about the name.
No TLK when it was exactly what the scene was begging for. It’s a huge, glaring omission, not in a shippy way, but in a “plot of the show since the Pilot” way. S1 begins with Snow & Charming’s TLK and ends with Emma & Henry’s. WHY WOULD YOU NOT TRY A TLK. I hypothesize that it was left out intentionally, because they needed to save it for a later date.
Agreed with all your (and your roomie’s) thoughts about the TLK omission. It’s HIGHLY suspect IMO. They even had Charming suggest it to Abigail to use on Frederick. It’s the go to solution in the Onciverse for if a loved one seemed doomed, but it wasn’t even suggested in this scene. #shenanigans
Why troll the fanbase?
Because every big twist they’ve ever done has been spoiled. People knew they were breaking the Curse in the S1 finale. People figured out that Neal was Bae and Henry’s father, and that Pan was Rumple’s father. People knew that Rumple was gonna stab Pan in SB. So much gets spoiled, there’s really no way they can avoid it, and as much of an unrepentant spoiler whore as I am, I can see why they’d want to keep just ONE big thing a secret, get one over on the fandom, just once. So they released the permanent death spoiler really far in advance, which was VERY uncharacteristic for them to do. And if they’re trying to beat the fandom at its own game this time, then of course they’re not gonna admit anything in interviews that would suggest Neal’s not permanently dead. If they were trolling, I doubt they’d even tell the media off the record, even people they typically trust, because the more people know, the greater the chance of it getting leaked, and dammit they’re gonna keep something a secret this time. And that something is that the spoiler they released way back when, that everyone now believes has come to fruition, isn’t actually gonna come to fruition until the finale, at which point they can high five each other and say, “we got ’em this time”. Honestly, I’m so cynical right now I wouldn’t put it past them.

Participant(My computer is being an arsehole so I’m attempting to post from my phone for the 1st time ever, let’s see if it works.)
WOW with the blatant line sharing for Neal and Ana! That’s not even kinda sorta maybe parrallely, it’s just straight up the same thing.
I haven’t watched WL yet, but with what people are saying about how she got to live because it “wasn’t her time”, I wanted to mention a thing from the Sneak Peek. Because Zelena says, “I mean, I am after all responsible.” They’re making it canon that Neal’s death wasn’t even his own fault! Not that we can necessarily have faith of them being consistent anymore, but if they’re giving Ana Neal’s lines, an then also establishing that it really wasn’t his time because he’s not at fault, well, I’m just saying (again): #shenanigans

ParticipantGood observations, slurpeez. I say again: SHENANIGANS.
I haven’t accepted it because I’m too cynical now to believe anything. I won’t be surprised if they don’t bring him back, but I also won’t be surprised if A&E are currently trolling the fandom and media so as to protect the spoiler that there’s another death coming. So I’m just stuck in cynical-in-between-land.
I’m resigned to the fact that as I continue to watch, (which I always knew I would, at the very least for the rest of this season), the show just won’t feel the same as a whole.

ParticipantObviously a Rumbelle bit that’s been edited out of the middle. Just that shot of Rumple’s face was enough to make my heart break.

ParticipantCould be some sort of AU, but if Hook’s royalty or upper class or whatever in this AU, he shouldn’t be there with the rest of them because he lived a couple hundred years earlier, and if he’s a straight laced good guy, that means no pirate, no Milah, no NL to keep him alive long enough to interact with these people.

ParticipantSearched tumblr for Swan Princess and someone has Photoshopped a thing…

sourceWe discussed a bunch of Odette/Derek – Emma/Neal potential parallel stuff a while ago.

ParticipantThe costume choice is seriously…interesting. I’ve always associated that blue like Emma’s cloak with Nealfire, because of his scarves. His FTL cloak in S3B had that deep blue mixed with the gold, and the blue trim around the edge.
Phee
ParticipantEmma’s costume looks very raggedy.
Didn’t Morraine wear something similar in the Return?
Similar feel, similar hairstyle, and her dress was blue while Emma’s cloak is blue.

She looked more raggedy-Emma-dress-ish in Desperate Souls.

ParticipantShe doesn’t appear to be wearing the necklace, but her blue cape made me think of Neal’s FTL cape, and of his trademark blue scarf, one of which he had when he was a peasant, and Emma’s dressed peasanty. Like PoM mentioned in the chat, she sort of has a Morraine vibe about her in that costume, (she even has her hair tied back similarly). Morraine was wearing a (wait for it) blue dress though.
