ParticipantI’ve always said that of all the characters I’d want to see cross over, it’d be Will, but I wouldn’t want him as a replacement for Neal. I will actually be curious to see what happens with Ana and Cyrus in the WL finale. We know they’re at least coming back temporarily, and due to us seemingly getting a flashforward to Alice with a child, it’s a reasonably safe bet that Cyrus STAYS alive, unless they’ve had time for baby making between people bursting into their not so invisible tent. They tend to have similar themes in both shows within a week of each other.

Participantslurpeez, your post was fantastic! The created such a complex, beautiful love story for these two. The writers put effort into building it up, creating the layers and connections. And then they really chose to just toss all of their previous work out the window? I really don’t get it!!

ParticipantExcellent post, melbell! It was the perfect summary of the story from the beginning, and why it’s so disheartening now. *sigh*
Emma has seriously not laughed like that since she was 17 and stealing food from a convenience store. The fact that Emma can always be open with Neal about everything and how much the two of them just love Henry. How excited Neal was to know that Henry and Emma loved living in New York, a place that he lived in for quite a while (oh no, now the tears are starting again). Those were beautiful moments, but even today I cannot understand why Neal’s death is the permanent one.
It was callous of them to show us that moment right before turning around and killing him. Why would they do that?! Show us how happy they can be together, show what a great team they would make, and then BAM. I just find it so hard to believe that they would be that cruel, to the characters and the viewers. It’s one of the things that keeps lingering in my brain, insisting that surely this CAN’T be real,
Why do the villains get happy endings, but someone who has ALWAYS strived to do the right thing, who has made sacrifices for others and who has owned up to his mistakes, why is his reward death? Yes, in real life this happens, but I don’t watch a show about fairytales to tell me how real life sucks sometimes. I know that life isn’t fair and no matter how hard you try as a person to be a good person, sometimes bad things happen to you. I don’t need to be reminded of that sad truth in a show that promotes hope for a better life, for love, for family and for happiness.
PREACH!

ParticipantSeems a bit premature for them to release this sort of info? And a REGULAR? Could they really slot him in that easily as a regular? Not that I’d object because he’s the character I was hoping would cross over if any did. But saying he’ll be a regular surprises me a bit. Sean I expect to become a regular, due to his close involvement with a main character. The character of Will wouldn’t have that sort of SB integration though.

ParticipantI feel the need to re-post just these two gifs on their own, because seriously, if they weren’t actually shot in the exact same location, they still set up the 315 scene to look almost identical.

Check the log across the top left corner. The tree in the bottom right corner. The position of the people. The angle it’s been shot at. I CALL SHENANIGANS.Quoting my own post to add a thing.
Because of that tree in the top right of 315, it does seem to be a different location, which makes the logs on the ground all the more suspicious to me. In the MAP scene, the patch of grass has clearly defined right angle edges, with one of those edges being a log. In 315, that same log is there, but there are also others which, given their position, create that same right angle effect as in the MAP scene. Of ALL the forest they have to shoot in…I don’t see how that could be coincidence that they’d randomly shoot in a spot for 315 that looks virtually identical, even though it’s not the exact same place. That’s more than just a storyline parallel, that’s going out of their way to get the eerily similar shot…for reasons?Phee

ParticipantThey had to pitch the entire season before shooting for 3A started though. The writers constantly meet through the season, but all the major stuff gets plotted out in their writers’ camp pre-season, and a massive thing like killing a character, that can’t be something you just make up on the fly. We may have had a long hiatus, but they haven’t had a big break in writing between the half seasons in order to brain(fart)storm this sort of thing.
Meanwhile, something that WOULD be planned out pre-season, because it’s just a blatant parallel to something from the previous season…

Seriously, how is that just mere coincidence? It even looks like those last 2 gifs were SHOT IN THE SAME PLACE. And then they brought Philora back, and will be bringing them back one more time as well.

ParticipantI just really makes me angry that he’s died so many times. Come ON. I get it if they were setting up for something larger like that. It’s like every time he dies the walls come down a little bit. Like it’s what she needs to snap out of the rut. *frustrated with Emma*
Yes, it would actually be fitting if that’s the endgame they’re working towards, where little by little, Emma comes to realise as each loss of him affects her, just how much she wants and needs to have the courage to be with him.
She lost him back in the day, she didn’t know if he was dead or alive, but deep down she never stopped loving him.
Then she got him back in truly bizarre circumstances, and everything was totally awkward.
Then she lost him again over the portal, and that was enough to get her to confess that she loves and needs him.
Then she got him back again in NL, and had now progressed to just wishing the emotional turmoil would stop because she loves him but it’s too hard losing him and it’d be easier without him around.
Then she lost him again, but she didn’t remember 5 seconds after it happened.
Then she got him back again, only to have him die within, like, an hour or so of them reuniting, and this time she was grief stricken, purely because she loves him, and their son, and wanted them all to remain together.
Emma has had a little bit of progress each time one of these separations and coming back together have happened, (and seriously, constantly tearing a couple apart is the CLASSIC way to deal with an endgame couple, it’s fricking TV show writing 101). If they did end up together in the end, their story will have actually built up in a believable way, and it would eventually be a beautiful thing and the strength of their bond would make them inseparable.
So if that’s what A&E mean when they say in interviews that his death was, like, the best thing ever for his character, then great. If they’re just trolling the fandom in the most epic way with all their comments about the death right now, then I’d be pissed to have been put through it, but at least it will have been worth it. It would actually be a fabulous act of troll-dom if they released the spoiler so early because they knew this was happening to Neal early on, and they wanted to lull the rest of the fandom into a false sense of security, and then come the finale BAM, nope, Neal’s not the permanent death, someone else is. It would be cruel, but it would be effective, and we did all think it very odd that they officially released such a massive spoiler when they did, considering they’re usually all about NO spoilers.

ParticipantWith that said.. with the talk of fan fic and the fact that I can’t focus for crap today at work– I decided to write my own ending. I haven’t proofed it, I just typed it up in an email form to get it out of my mind and onto this forum. Just copy/pasting it to share. It actually helped a little bit. Also, because Tangled.
That was beautiful! Thank you for writing it!

ParticipantAll I kept hearing in my head was “Go find Tallahassee…”
It’s so wrong that they used that wording, because NO, Tallahassee was THEIR dream, neither one of them could ever find that specific dream with anyone else. It’s so odd that they would have Neal use that word, because he of all people understands its true meaning. Let’s bring up their happily ever after dream in the moment he’s about to die. Seriously?
