One of the symbols looks like it has three Tomoe. Another one might be the All-seing Eye.
Also I think these Symbols are surrounded by a serpent eating his own tail. That symbol is called Ouroboros.
Thanks for the Tomoe link, perhaps that’s why I was thinking the shape of that one looked familiar, but I couldn’t pinpoint it. I can’t tell if two of the segments in it are connected or not, because there’s a snowflake in the way. LOL The pointed bits on it made the curved bits remind me a bit of the scythe, like the grim reaper carries.
And yes, that’s totally an Ouroboros now you mention it. I’d been looking at just the little symbol on its own and thinking how it almost looked like a person, but DUH, it’s actually a head. The Ouroboros is rather fitting, I mean…
The Ouroboros often symbolize self-reflexivity or cyclicality, especially in the sense of something constantly re-creating itself, the eternal return, and other things such as the phoenix which operate in cycles that begin anew as soon as they end. It can also represent the idea of primordial unity related to something existing in or persisting from the beginning with such force or qualities it cannot be extinguished.
…sounds like the Dark One to me.
I’m really hoping that Neal failed to summon his father from the dead because Rumple was not dead.
Also, I think Belle will be able to decipher the writings. And, who came up with this plan to summon the dead. To resurrect? Neal? Belle? Lumiere?
Is this on the Dark Castle grounds? Has it always been there, but Rumple had it hidden?
I could see it being in the castle grounds, just because Lumiere is gonna be involved in helping them. It looks like Belle’s gonna carry the candelabra out there with them, so Lumiere can guide them, and for practical reasons, I wouldn’t necessarily expect them to have Belle trek for ages through the woods carrying a lit candelabra, and it would also make more sense for Lumiere to know about it in the first place if it was somewhere close by, especially if he perhaps used to be human, working at Rumple’s castle, and rarely (if ever) left the grounds.
I dunno if it’s just that the rendering of the light is a bit off, but I’m wondering if whatever BelleFire do at that circle is actually at a different time to when Rumple rises up…
The second two pics look darker, like it’s later in the day, and in the top pic, the circle is glowing with red in the centre, but in the other one, it’s got the dark stuff flowing in from the edges. Feels like two separate incidents, perhaps? Maybe BelleFire try something but it doesn’t work, and then later on Zelena comes to finish it off?[adrotate group="5"]It does leave Belle out, but the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man were all male character closely tied to Dorothy, and Charming, Rumple and Neal are all male members of Emma’s family, so it’d tie everything to together nicely if they’re trying to sort of parallel the original story with present day.

I like the idea of them putting a spin on the Golden Cap, though I’ve never considered that the Flying Monkeys were save-able before. I’ve sort of assumed that Walsh was the favoured monkey who got to transform between human and monkey, but the rest of her monkeys were just doomed to always be monkeys. I don’t think the sword Charming has in that pic is the sword he lost in 314. The round bit on the end looks a different size, and the hilt on the one he lost in 314 was patterned, but the one in the pic looks smooth. So even if the pendant IS something Zelena uses to control Neal, and Emma finds it by 319, I don’t think they also find Charming’s sword (yet). If the pendant WAS used to control Neal, and Zelena loses it, that means she’d need someone else’s heart to control if she needs the trifecta of heart, courage, brain to do what she wants to do, and that could be interesting if we see her having to scramble to enslave another heart now that she’s lost control of Neal’s. Maybe she’d go after Robin’s if he and Regina have connected by then?Phee, Emma can help Neal get his family back this time… she can save Gold
I wonder what saving Rumple will involve? Just stealing the dagger from Zelena and giving it back to Rumple so he’s back in control of himself? I kinda want it to be a case of Zelena having brought the Dark One back when it wasn’t supposed to have happened, so fate will course correct somehow and the Dark One WILL be undone, leaving mortal Rumple.
But yes, I’d love to see Emma helping Neal get his family back, the same way he helped her get her family back.
I’m struck *again* by how Emma talks about how Hook’s life is one big adventure–every second in the EF was just one swashbuckling adventure until he came to save her. And of course he doesn’t deny it. Nor should he, he’s a pirate and always has been. And that’s totally 100% okay, I like Hook the pirate. But it’s not the life Emma wants.
That struck me as well. They really seem to be painting their life views and desires as being incompatible IMO.
Also, can I take a moment to mention the death glare Emma gave Hook when he said, “Bit demanding isn’t she,” about Emma’s mother. LOL In S3A Hook called Snow a “slag” which Emma didn’t hear, but now he’s insulting her mother again? Dude, insulting the people you want as in-laws is NOT a smart move. 😛
Rumple: Just exactly what is it you want?
Zelena: What I’m after, Rumple, is something you’ve spent a lifetime seeking. Something that goes against your very nature. Something that I can’t afford to wait that long for. Luckily, I won’t have to.
When we just had the first part of her dialogue from the promo, I’d just figured she was talking about being reunited with family, but “Something that goes against your very nature,” makes me think there’s gotta be more to it.
After a re-watch, I wanna add the Robin/Charming bro moment (broment?) to my list of likes. Two men who have experienced fatherhood and loss just bonding. Hope we see some more of that.
Also on my like list: Bobby Carlyle, because his portrayal of yet another incarnation of Rumple is fabulous as always. He’s really quite in the dark about what Zelena is up to, he’s totally vulnerable, and his crazy person moments in this ep had just the right amount of desperation.

I could see that being the case. We don’t know exactly how long Zelena had been in Regina’s castle, and maybe she went snooping, found her mother’s grave, and that’s what set current events in motion because she decided she wanted to bring her back.
PS. That sword that Charming has in that recent pic that WR included in her post, looks like it’s different to the sword he lost in 314, so Zelena’s still got it for her nefarious purposes.
