ParticipantIf water kills Zelena.. I think that normal water that we drink wouldn’t work. Maybe water from the well? Or magic water?
Good thought, I like this! We noticed that the the gazebo Philora were having their picnic at has the exact same design as the gazebos over the Wells of Wonders in Agrabah and WL on the sister show, and Ana said that there’s one in all lands. The one in FTL had the floor boarded up (maybe Zelena’s the one who did that, so no one could get to the only water that could harm her), but otherwise looked identical. Maybe they’ll need to get back there to get some water from that well in order to defeat Zelena? But then, the water from the Well of Wonders is meant to save people, not kill them, so I wonder if it would just melt off her green/magic and leave her human, her soul saved, undone, so to speak?
I guess they could also use the trusty SB well water instead as the magic water, but given that they went to the trouble to show that identical gazebo in FTL, I think it’d be that specific well system’s water, which I think is different to the SB well/Nostos system.
In other news, about what Zelena’s plan is for Charming, it wouldn’t surprise me if she does try to kill him. If she wants their baby, it’ll be easier for her to take and keep if Charming is permanently out of the picture…
Or maybe she’s not gonna kill him, maybe she’s just gonna slowly but surely alter his mind so he becomes unfit to parent a baby, and he’ll get shut out of everyone’s lives. (Sidenote: I wonder if she’s often made “tea” for Rumple?)…
Or maybe she wants to assume enough control over his mind so that she can have him for herself, so he can still be the father of the baby she’s gonna snatch from Snow. If Zelena grew up without her father, and she felt that was a big, gaping hole in her life, she probably wouldn’t steal the baby and raise it on its own…
Maybe she can’t have kids of her own, but she wants to raise a child, believing that she would be a wonderful mother because she knows exactly what NOT to do due to her own crappy childhood. Maybe that’s why she originally threatened Philora’s baby, because she was planning to take their baby, (and Philip?) so she made them a deal that she’d get their baby, and she expected them to slip up sooner or later. And then along happened Snow and Charming, and if Snow’s from Zelena’s own bloodline, then a baby of hers might be more desirable for Zelena, especially if her motivation behind all this is partly having felt abandoned by her own father, who was also Snow’s father…
Aaaaannnnd now I’m wondering if Zelena slipped Snowing an aphrodisiac at some point during the missing year so they’d make with the baby making.
Well, that post ended up much longer than anticipated. Stream of consciousness posting FTW. 😛

ParticipantIf Leo was Zelena’s father, and she knew it, she could have been using the crystal ball to peek in on him and his family, and would have seen Johanna.
PS. I’ll bet they get interrupted right when Charming’s about to take that sip and he won’t actually drink any. But then he’ll get berry poisoning out in the woods anyway, so it all evens out.

ParticipantDo you see established characters playing the parts (like the way RS played the role of the Beast), or do you see them being there own individual characters?
Maybe a little bit of both?
I think there was a Dorothy, years ago, she’s the reason Jefferson couldn’t get the slippers for Rumple, because she’d already used them to get home. I think we may see her in flashback, and also potentially in present day, as an older woman. But I think Emma’s role will be very Dorothy-esque, with her searching to find her place and her true home.
I think there was an actual Scarecrow in the past too, and maybe we’ll also see him in flashback. But I think Rumple may be the present day representation of him, because judging by the final scene in 313, he may well have lost his mind.
The Tin Man I’m considering slightly differently, because I think he may actually be Walsh. The guy makes furniture, he works with wood, and they like linking the characters’ present day occupations with their storybook character persona. He was pretending to be in love with Emma, which could tie in with his lack of a heart, and perhaps Zelena made him a deal whereby he’d be able to find his heart/love if he worked for her, which accounts for his Monkey-ness in between his Tin-ness and Human-ness.
If they wanted to also have a separate present day character to parallel with Tin Man, like they may do with other characters, then I guess that could be Neal perhaps, because he lost all 3 people he loved, like he had his heart ripped out, and then vowed to get his heart back by finding them all again.
The Lion, again I think there was an actual lion in the past, but if they’re gonna parallel a present day character with his story, I think it could be Hook. He’s been trying to make strides to do better, but I think he’s still stuck mid-redemption, where he’s not overcome his pirate-ness, he’s still acting out of selfish interests, and he’s still telling half truths, but over the course of S3B we may see him find the true courage to be a better, more honest man.
Those 3 – Rumple, Neal, Hook – are already linked together in the story, and each of them have been in the position of partnering with or guiding Emma, so giving each of them 1 of those 3 Oz characters to parallel, alongside Emma’s parallel of Dorothy, would be quite fitting IMO.
As for the Wizard, I’d love to see him play a role in present day as well as in the past. Not sure who could parallel him in present day…maybe Henry, somehow? He’s lost his “magic” of being a believer, and the Wizard had no actual magic. The Wizard did eventually help people, including offering to help Dorothy get home, and I suspect Henry may have a vital role in helping break the Curse, and he’s definitely a factor in Emma’s finding her true home.
I’d like to see Glinda in both past and present, in the past doing battle with Zelena, and in the present helping the SBers do battle with Zelena.
I dunno if they’ll introduce lesser characters in any significant way, but I sort of doubt it, because it’d just add up to being too many new characters, even if some of them are only seen in one ep in flashbacks. It could get overwhelming pretty quickly. I would love to see a scene where Dwarves come face to face with Munchkins, but dunno how they’d work that, assuming the Munchkins are in Oz and staying there. Maybe if Glinda pops over to SB, she can bring a couple with her? Actually, now I’m thinking of it, maybe Snow can parallel Glinda somehow? Snow and her Dwarves, Glinda and her Munchkins. Glinda watched over Dorothy, and Snow watches over Emma.

ParticipantIf a Nealfire fan vid to Christina’s “Fighter” doesn’t already exist, that’s a thing that needs to happen.

ParticipantI just hope its awesome and epic. I wonder if it will have two cliffhangers (one at the end of the first hour and then another at the end of the second) like two episodes would.
I think maybe one ep will end with a birth and the other will end with a death.

ParticipantA few pages back there were some posts speculating about the apparently-maybe-316-funeral. Ever since we got hints that Little John would turn Monkey, I’ve suspected that that funeral (if it even IS a funeral) could be for him. They have no way to turn him back, and he might get crazy and/or violent and he’ll end up being killed. Sorta like a rabid dog having to be put down.
And to keep this post on topic…

ParticipantBut never mind…
We’ll just agree to disagree.
but one thing I don’t get… Cora HAD her heart before she met Rumpel, so why did she give up her daughter?
Cora was living in poverty. Her father was probably drinking away what little money they did have, and so they probably had barely enough to eat to keep themselves alive, let alone look after a baby. I suspect that Cora gave Zelena up to give her a better chance in life, or perhaps someone offered to buy the baby, and Cora was so desperate for money to be able to survive that she felt she had no choice. Having given up her first daughter due to poverty is what fueled Cora to have such a strangle hold on Regina and make sure she was rich. She wasn’t gonna lose another one too.

ParticipantNice!
The Snowflake is so gonna be born in 321/322 with that sucker airing on Mother’s Day. 😉

ParticipantI’m starting to think that the outdoor stuff we keep seeing pictures of are really small percentages of the episodes that they’ve filmed in S3B so far and if that’s the case, then we REALLY need to stop taking those idiots seriously because their reports don’t mean jack crap.
This is what I say whenever people freak out that so and so hasn’t been seen filming. Just to prove the point, I made a quick list of all the scenes in 313:
Interior of Regina’s castle (incl the crypt, the tunnel & the courtyard) x 6
FTL outdoors x 4
Sitting room at Granny’s
Diner x 3
SB forest x 3
Town Hall
Regina’s office x 3
Hospital
Bug
Snow’s apartment
Zelena’s house and Rumple’s cageWhen they were actually shooting the ep, we knew about the Town Hall, and the scene in the Bug, and off the top of my head, I think that’s all? Two scenes out of 25 we knew about at the time of filming. For some eps we maybe get shooting info for 3 or 4 scenes, but that’s still the VAST MINORITY of what they shoot for every ep. Which is why I just don’t get it when people think that just because someone hasn’t been seen shooting for a while, that means they haven’t been shooting at all.

ParticipantI honestly don’t feel like they neglect Neal. Yeah, the major part of who he is is reflected in showing who he is to other people, but that’s just because that’s who he is. He IS Rumple’s son, the reason for the Curse. He IS Henry’s father and Emma’s former *cough*andfuture*cough* lover. If they’re gonna have him integrated as part of the story, interacting with other people, then those things about him HAVE to be a constant factor in how he’s portrayed, because those relationships inform who he is as a person. His relationship with his father informs who he is and why he feels so strongly about getting back to Emma and Henry, which he wants because he wants to be a better father than his father was. His history with those relationships informs who he is in present day, a man determined to do and be better, and not abandon those he loves. I don’t think you can have present day Neal as an individual character, without drawing on those relationships that make him who he is in present day. And knowing about those relationships from his past, and how wrong they went, informs what a BAMF Neal is that he’s still hanging in there and still fighting, no matter how many times life has crapped on him. His present day strength would mean nothing if we didn’t have his relationships with others motivating his choices to keep going.
I really don’t think they would create an original character totally from scratch and then not care about him. I think they care about him and his emotional journey a great deal, which is why they’re taking their time with him.
