ParticipantSounds like this will be quite the episode!
Jafar’s gonna think he’s won, he’ll have the fake love of his father, and the fake love of Ana to keep him warm at night, but in end, I’m sure his plans will fall apart and he’ll end up losing it all, and quite possibly dying. Perhaps Amara knows she has to sacrifice herself to the Well Of Wonders, (it’s gotta come into play if it’s the location for the battle), and she grabs Jafar and drags him under with her.

ParticipantMy current thinking on how it all played out…
Rumple knew he needed Cora’s child to cast the Curse. He assumed when he met her that she had never had a child, so he assumed that the next child she had would be her first, which is why he worded the deal to be for her first born.
Some time after Regina’s birth, when Rumple was still loitering in Cora’s life, she let it slip that she had in fact had another daughter a couple of years before Rumple first met her, (perhaps she revealed this to divert Rumple’s attentions away from Regina). Because Rumple had the “first born” assumption in his head, (gotta be careful of those assumptions, especially when you’re dealing with tricksy prophecy), he turned his attentions to finding this previous child.
I don’t think Zelena ended up in Oz until later in life, after turning green, which happened towards the end of her association with Rumple. I think she actually grew up in FTL, which is where Rumple found her, and began to train her, thinking she was the one intended to cast his Curse.
Zelena is interesting in that it sounds like she may have grown up similarly to Emma. Given away as a baby, growing up alone and feeling unwanted and unloved, but the situation has affected them both in different ways.
This is where my thinking splits in two and I can’t decide which idea I prefer. Option 1: Zelena’s life had made her so bitter that she actually had no one she loved unconditionally. If so, then she simply wouldn’t be able to cast Rumple’s Curse, because in order for that to happen, the caster had to sacrifice the heart of the thing they loved most, which simply didn’t exist for her. Option 2: Zelena did find someone to love, (I kinda like the crack theory that it was the Huntsman, based on A&E having said that they had a role for him in mind this season and it’d be something obvious after we’d seen the whole season), but because they were the only person in her entire life she’d ever had affection for, it became apparent that there was no way she’d kill that person in order to cast the Curse.
Either option would deem Zelena useless for Rumple’s needs, at which point he turned his attentions back to Regina, now believing that she was the one from the prophecy after all. She had unconditional love in her life with her father, but also had the potential for darkness because of what Cora did to Daniel. She was prime Curse caster material, unlike Zelena.
After being dumped by Rumple, in favour of her precious sister who got the nice life she’d missed out on, and now she was gonna get the magic and the Curse as well, Zelena became unbearably envious. I can imagine a scene where Rumple quips, “That much green doesn’t suit anyone, Dearie,” and whether it’s something he actually does to teach her a lesson, or whether her magically ability just made her naturally susceptible, the excess of envy caused her to actually end up green.
And she was such a nuisance, and Rumple was worried that she might try to contact Regina and/or Cora and screw up his entire Curse plan, that he *poofed* her off to Oz, (wouldn’t be the last time he’d get a Mills woman banished to another world to get her out of the way of his goal).

ParticipantPrince Charming stumbles upon Rapunzel, who is trapped inside a tower, and must help her confront her fears in order for her to be free,
I’m gonna go off on a totally different tangent and suggest that the hooded figure isn’t even actually real. It’s a manifestation of Rapunzel’s own paranoia/agoraphobia, that keeps her shut up in the tower, away from the rest of the world. It will be paralleled with Charming’s visions and how those subconscious fears could potentially manifest in his life, the same way Rapunzel’s fears have manifested into the hooded thing.
Raphael Sbarge as Archie Hopper/Jiminy Cricket, Rebecca Mader as Zelena,
Random, but I saw a tumblr post yesterday where someone was listing their ships and they included WickedCricket and I decided that if they end up keeping Zelena around long term and redeeming her, I could totally end up shipping it. I got this image of Zelena sighing and being all, “It’s not easy being green,” and Archie piping up, “Yeah, tell me about it,” and it made me chuckle. š

ParticipantIt should be pretty clear, that the āprotection spellā (as Regina called it!) around the castle and the āBlood Magic Lockā for the crypt are two completely different things and not connected!
Regina’s lock on the crypt door, and the lock on her office in SB were both blood magic. The protection spell Regina left around the castle was essentially a lock as well, so I think it’s safe to assume that that was also blood magic. There’s no way Regina would have risked ANYONE being able to break into her castle, so she’s gonna use blood magic to keep people away from it IMO.
does it matter weather Regina found out now or later when sheās going to forget and have to go through the whole thing again.
I think they did the sister reveal this early to amp up the tension as we watch the SB stuff. Regina’s trying to figure out who cast the Curse, doesn’t have any idea, but the audience now knows that the person she’s looking for is her sister. Adds another layer to the storytelling as we watch Regina try to figure it out while being in the dark about the facts. They’re doing a similar thing with her and Robin too, where the audience knows who he is in regards to her, but she has no clue.

Participantslurpeez, nice catch with the mirror framing!
pan14, I think it’s just that they’ll want viewers to assume that the hooded figure approaching unconscious Charming in SB is the same hooded figure he encountered in the Rapunzel flashbacks, so the audience will be freaked out as the hooded one gets closer, and closer, and then, nope it’s all good, just Neal. Basically, if that’s HoodedNeal, I think it’s just a crafty costume choice to build suspense, not an indicator of him having turned dark or evil.

ParticipantAt the moment I’m thinking that Neal gets separated from everyone else while they’re still in FTL, as a result of his searching for Rumple. He’ll find that Rumple is being held prisoner by Zelena, and while he’s lurking and planning what to do, he hears Zelena planning and gloating about the New Curse. He knows that everyone else will get swept up in it, probably also assumes he will himself, (though I’m not convinced he did, I think there’s some glitch in the Curse somewhere where he’s concerned, maybe because he’s the one the original Curse was made to find in the first place, it’ll affect him differently or something, that could even allow for Belle to have been with him, and her get taken like everyone else, but him not), but he also knows that Hook is off on his own God knows where, so perhaps there’s a chance he won’t get caught in the Curse. So he figures out how to make the potion, and writes the note and tells a bird to go find Hook if it can.

ParticipantHeather, the hooded figure that I think is Neal, is in SB. We see their reflection in the mirror on Charming’s truck, and we also see them approach Charming as he’s lying on the ground. The other hooded figure is in the Rapunzel flashbacks, and the costume is different, no belt on that one. I think near the end of 314 we’ll see the hooded figure approaching unconscious Charming in SB, and because we’ve seen the other hooded figure in the Rapunzel flashbacks throughout the ep, they’ll expect the audience to assume that the one approaching Charming in SB is the same person. But then I think they’ll kneel down to check if Charming is OK, and then we’ll see their face, and realise that it’s Neal, who has been hiding in the woods, probably from Zelena, who he’s been onto, which is how he was able to send Hook the message that Emma was needed in SB. Then I think after that, when Charming and Co know that Neal’s alive and in town, he’ll get some modern clothes, and that’s why he was dressed normally in the BTS pics with JMo.

ParticipantDoes anyone have a screen cap of the figures? Iām sneaking at work and canāt really hunt them down atm.
Here’s the side by side showing the 2 different figures…

(BAH, it didn’t auto re-size the pic to fit the page like usual, maybe because of the spoiler tags? Anyway, you can see the full pic in the link RG gave you to compare better.)Phee
ParticipantMaybe Zelena didn’t have anyone she loved, (or wouldn’t have been willing to kill someone she loved), which was necessary to be able to make the sacrifice for the Curse, and as such, she was useless to Rumple.

ParticipantHad it just been the one incident in the castle when Zelena broke through Regina’s blood magic, then maybe I’d be more suspicious. But they then backed it up by having her break through Regina’s blood magic in SB too, which to me feels like confirmation that yes, they do share blood. That seems like a more straightforward explanation as opposed to later revealing that Zelena carries a vial of Regina’s blood wherever she goes, just in case.
