    We’ll learn a lot more about Snow’s ill-fated mother.

    Liiiiiike, her connection to Oz?

*hugging the last several pages of this thread*

    And because of this…

It’s going to take someone *cough* Emma *cough* to show him that it’s okay to put it out on the line again. And at the same time she’s showing him it’s okay to do that, he’ll help tear down her remaining walls.

    …and this…

They totally get each other’s pain and now that Emma knows more about Neal’s past, she’s going to get his pain way more than ever once they finally see each other again. No one understands the longing for family more than each of them, no one understands loneliness better than them, no one understands trying to find your way in an unfamiliar place more than them, and no one knows how each of them deals with that unbearable type of pain better than each of them.

…if anyone needs me, I’ll be curled up in the corner sobbing forever about how perfect Emma and Neal are for each other.

If the death wasn’t planned till the Season finale, then why would Rose have read a script knowing who it is?

It’s been ages since I watched the interview where Rose mentioned it, but did she actually say she’d seen the script, or did she just say that she knew who it was? Because if it’s the latter, well it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the goss that one of the main cast will be leaving had spread through everyone involved in production, even if they wouldn’t be leaving until the end of the season.

    RumplesGirl wrote:

They mentioned in one of the interviews that this death has been planned since the end of S2. So it stands to reason they had fleshed out some sort of outline/plot points/very rough draft of that scene.

Really? They’ve been wanting to kill off this character for that long? Still the way it sounded from how Adam described it being emotional to write I think that lends itself to being something more complete.

Can’t remember where but Adam and/or Eddy said recently that pre-S3 they pitched the ENTIRE season to ABC before production began. They were asked something like did they only have to pitch the first 11, or the whole season at once, and they said the whole thing, (which makes sense if ABC wanna keep things in check a bit more and not have another S2 where they unexpectedly changed course part way through). So it would have been before production for the season began that they’d have told ABC about this death. Maybe they even wrote a first draft of the death at that point, so they could include it in their pitch, (because if you’re gonna tell TPTB that you’re gonna kill off a main character, you need to go in there with sufficient evidence documenting why it’s a good/necessary plan). ABC knew the scope of the ENTIRE season when they came up with those promo posters with the catchy tag lines, (so someone in promo has a sick sense of humour if they knew Neal was gonna die and gave him a tag line about believing in second chances).

Exactly. I believe this death will be very hard-hitting among the fandom, and the way A&E are handling that is what tells me it’s probably a fan favorite. Fans will have an entire summer to “get over their mad” after this happens, and I think ABC is banking on dust settling, and then everyone tunes in next fall. If the death is my favorite, I can honestly say I probably won’t.

Yep, it’s what makes the best business sense. It wouldn’t surprise me if some people do drop the show if their absolute fave dies, but in the grand scheme, I doubt that would have a huge effect on S4 ratings. Ending with a big bang like a major death would probably guarantee that casual viewers would remember the finale, and wanting to see the aftermath of it would likely get them coming back for S4. And at the end of the day, it’s the casual viewing audience at large that dictates the ratings, so that’s something they’d take into consideration.

I don’t necessarily think Emma’s words are going to haunt her, whether Neal does or doesn’t die, or she is or isn’t with Hook (or anyone else). The fact of the matter is, she was telling Neal the exact truth – if he died, it would’ve been easier to move on. Ultimately, she’s going to have to deal with her past whether anyone is dead or alive. That’s what it means to be an adult.

Agreed, but it’ll be more angst ridden for her to deal with it if Neal remains alive, and angst = drama in TV. Killing Neal would be them giving Emma an easier way of dealing, (they have established, in canon, from Emma’s own lips, that it would be easier for her to move on if he’d really been dead and she didn’t have to address her emotions for him head on), and these writers don’t tend to like giving their characters the easy way.

I think we’re going to see, when Emma has a set of ‘real’ and ‘fake’ memories, is she realizes how much she missed out on Henry’s life – the person that means the most to her. I’m betting her memories of keeping Henry have already helped her heal from her relationship with Neal.

She’ll have to have a different perspective on her past with Neal now, due to 11 years of memories with Henry. It wouldn’t be believable if those 11 years didn’t alter her perspective in some way. What that way actually is, we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe it was easier for her to deal with Neal’s having left her and move on, because she still had Henry, so she never felt completely alone, and had a new purpose in life, to be a good mother, which in turn made her more open to other people as well. Maybe the whole 11 years have been bittersweet because every time there was a special moment with Henry, she was sad that Neal was missing out, and it would eat away at her, knowing that Tallahassee could have been even better than they’d dreamed because they’d have had a child as part of it. I doubt it’ll be black and white either way, I’d expect her altered perspective on it all to be layered and complicated, which will give us an Emma in S3B who feels torn and confused.

I do think the BIG death probably happens later in the season.

I really think it’s gonna be a finale death. They wouldn’t have to risk getting a chunk of their fanbase off side mid-season, and would also be able to keep the dead character’s ID under wraps, because once the finale is shot, everyone leaves Vancouver, so tracking who was where and when couldn’t possibly give it away.

Hmmmm, curious. It does look like it could be the same elderly couple in both shots.

That scene between Walsh and Emma was a bit more lengthy than I’d been expecting. They’re talking up a storm there.

This is totally not fair. If nonmagical mothers arent given magical “turn off the sound” superpowers, then I dont think its fair that magical mothers can magically turn off the sound. totally unfair.
I could have used a magical turn off the sound device when my kids were babies… then again when they were whiney 2 year olds. but most of all, I could have used a magical turn off the sound device when my kids were teenagers. possibly i would like to borrow one for family get togethers.

    😆 😆

Linking this ecause of language issues but I loved reading this post tonight (and thanks for the heads up on that other post RG! That was the one I was talking about):

I’ll be watching for sure, gotta see how the story ends.

They really could have handled this show SO much better, but I think now ABC are at the point where they’re just gonna cut their losses and not spend any more than is necessary on it and just churn out the last fews eps and be done with it. They know that no new viewers will be drawn in, so there’s no point with a big advertising campaign. Would still be good if they had at least one promo to remind people it’s coming back, though.

I think this interview is a mix of fact, spin and spec. Some of it might be true and some of it might be sensationalization

Agreed. It does sound like they were in the room for the 312 screening though.

In “New York Serenade,” Hook gets a message letting him know that Emma’s family is in danger, much like Neal got a message in the beginning of this season, and it made us curious: Is it a trap? It could be, according to Horowitz. “The message Hook got COULD be a trap, but that is a mystery we’re spending an entire episode on.” If you end up squinting at the TV on March 9, suspicious about what’s going on, just know that you’re not the only one.

This is gonna be cracky, but Imma put it out there just on the random off chance that it happens and I can say I called it. 😛

Hook gets sent a message from…Rumple. It sounds whack because as if Rumple would trust Hook (and vice versa if Hook knew where the message came from), but if Emma’s family is in danger, that means Neal’s in danger, and Rumple would go to whatever lengths necessary to rectify that, even if it meant recruiting Hook, who Rumple would know would be totally up for going to get Emma, considering how he feels about her.

Rumple’s in the company of Zelena, so he’s in a position to know what she’s up to and sound the alert. Assuming part of that message Hook gets is the note he gives to Emma, well Rumple is one of the few people who could actually have Neal’s NYC address committed to memory. Also, if Zelena is aware of Emma’s location, then Rumple could have also known, to be able to tell Hook where to go in the first place.

I don’t have the pic that Mickstemp tweaked to show what was written on the note handy, but I do remember that the writing looked sorta scripty scrolly, like an old fashioned hand, which we know Rumple has because of the EmmaEmmaEmmaEmma note, so if we see Hook getting a written note that has Emma’s name on it, I’ll be zooming in to compare.

How Rumple would have gotten such a message away, I dunno. And I think that if it IS from Rumple, then Hook likely doesn’t know, he’ll just get an anonymous tip off that he needs to go get Emma. And I doubt the audience will immediately get the question answered of where the message came from.
