ParticipantSitting here trying to process the finale, and I keep coming back to 2 things.
1. FRANK COME BACK AND LET ME HUG YOU. I was so scared that Laurel was gonna find him dead. How did I end up caring about this guy so much?!
2. Wes has now seen BOTH of his parents die right in front of him whilst bleeding from the head. POOR PUPPY LET ME HUG YOU.
PS. Michaela’s track record is closeted gay guys, Eggs911, SERIAL KILLERS, and Asher. Girlfriend needs some serious help in the boyfriend department.

ParticipantGlad they ended up not being the Grimms. The way the characters were described, the relationship they were gonna have, would have been kind of insulting to the actual Brothers Grimm.

ParticipantNo matter how much Adam denies it, no matter how un-true it is, there are now people who will always believe it to be fact. Poor Sean!
I didn’t wanna believe that they’d actually kill Robin. At the conclusion of an arc where they’ve just brought back another character – the boyfriend of a female lead no less – from death. The fact that everyone who knew Robin has buggered off through the magic door is pretty solid confirmation though. Two more children left to grow up without their father, on the show about family and hope. Just…wow.

ParticipantSo Hook’s gonna be lowered into the green river? Which river do we think that is?
More flaming blue hair? URGH!

ParticipantI can’t help but wonder if Ginny was all, “Get my character back on track, dammit,” and this was their effort to give Snow a bit of a soft re-set. If so, then I’m OK with it, I can deal with any inconsistency, as long as they keep it up and make the character better from this point on.

ParticipantChip and the creepy Peter Pan doll are down there, too. So why not?
But does that mean that every inanimate object has unfinished business. How silly! I have no problem with the pen being down there but the idea that’s it’s alive and it, its very self has unfinished business, is…silly. Or is Chip going to come to life and talk to Rumple and explain how he’s a very sad tea cup because his OTP is currently on the rocks??
I feel like things like the doll and Chip were just used as props because, “Hey guyz, it’s those props you luved, so we’re re-using them for funziez and FEELS.” And they’re making the Pen a different thing.
Didn’t they establish though, that it was the will of the Author that could control the Pen? So, even if the Pen contains magic, it’s not a sentient being in its own right? Therefore, it shouldn’t have special rules applied to it whereby it knows it has unfinished business.
I can get behind the idea in the sense that the concept of Henry being the Author was so very unfinished, and now they’re trying to rectify how they just dropped the whole thing, by giving Henry the means to be the Author again. But the way they’re going about it is a bit weird. It kinda smacks of them being desperate to find a way to bring Henry back into significance, and the logic of the situation be damned. But even if they’re going about it in a silly way, I can at least appreciate that they want to give some significance back to Henry.

ParticipantAs much as many of us criticize when OUAT sticks too closely to the Disney versions, this is a case where they would have been better off doing so.
I know nothing about Megara-of-myth, and the vast majority of the audience is probably the same, while being very familiar with the Disney version. So yeah, in this case, they should have stuck with the Disney version instead, which would avoided this utter disappointment everyone has with the character.
Because I knew nothing about her mythological origin, I looked her up…
Megara is always portrayed in the myths as the guiltless innocent who, with her children, suffers a meaningless and brutal death.
Well, that fits with how the show portrayed her.
Later portrayals of her, such as the animated Disney film Hercules (1997), depict her as a con artist who is redeemed from her difficult past through her relationship with the hero. No ancient depictions of Megara present her in this light at all. Her role in the 2014 film Hercules, while not exact, is much closer to her traditional portrayal.

ParticipantI thought that this better place only revealed itself as Olympus to Hercules, since he was a demi-god who had to complete 12 labors. Once Hercules had defeated the Cerberus, he then got to join his dad on Mount Oympus. Maybe Meg got to go with him, because she’s Herc’s love interest now.
I hope *twitch* that that’s the case, but I feel like we need to see someone else “move on to a better place” before we can say it’s definitely the case.
Part of me would rather the “better place” appear differently for each person, depending on their origin/beliefs. But on the other hand, it seems to be that everyone, no matter their origin/beliefs, ends up in the Underworld of Greek myth in particular, (which already doesn’t make sense), so it wouldn’t really make sense for the “better place” to be somewhere not also from Greek myth.
Basically, they’ve tried to mash up characters and specific cultures that shouldn’t be mashed with each other, and it’s become a hot mess.

ParticipantThey could have done without the kiss at the end. I had no issue with Snow having a crush on him at first. She’s a tween girl who was just rescued by a hunk of spunk demi-god with bulging biceps, it probably would have felt like something was missing if she hadn’t had a moment of, “Well hullo thar.” But the rest of their scenes they just felt like friends to me, so the kiss was kind of outta nowhere and gratuitious and unecessary.
