I would have loved to have seen flashbacks of him with hook/bae/tinkerbell. I feel like we missed out.
Agreed, it feels like there’s a whole lotta history for several characters that would involve them showing Pan again in flashback. Not gonna hold my breath for it though, I guess those gaps in NL history are likely to go unexplained. *sigh*

Looks different to me. The one in the Rapunzel scene, there are clearly studs intermittently along the gold lines of thread, and those aren’t on the 312 costume. Saw a tumblr post where someone thought that Charming’s sleeve in the Rapunzel pic looked like his sleeve in the S3B BTS pics. I looked up a clearer pic and Photoshopped this side by side…
Don’t look quite matchy to me, (the Rapunzel one seems to have gold studs too, and the lines look wider spaced), so I don’t think we can say for sure that the Rapunzel stuff is in the missing year, (can’t rule it out either). I haven’t gone looking up screencaps of all of Charming’s flashbacks to see if the Rapunzel scene costume matches anything that might help us place it on the t-word.I love them and they’re my OTP but I also know that Rumbelle was a huge fan service–they wanted to do the story but after Skin Deep became the phenom that it did, A and E were salivating to keep Emilie around. Even Emilie admits that the Rumbelle fans are pretty much responsible for keeping her around. So, while CS doesn’t speak for everyone–obviously–they do have a pretty loud voice. Can A and E block that if SF was always their original plan?
Rumbelle is a totally different situation IMO. It’s unlikely that they had any other plans for another potential romance for Rumple. And Emilie is a friend of theirs. So when the fans demanded more Rumbelle, they could easily adapt their original ideas, and instead bring her back. I’d think that they already had that possibility in mind anyway, considering they actually had Belle locked up in SB in Skin Deep, so they’d set it up for her to potentially be around in present day if they wanted to use her more. They probably thought they’d throw out the idea of Rumbelle, and if people liked it, they’d do more with it. And it turned out people really liked it, so they did more with it.
In the CSF situation, if SF had been their original idea for endgame, they can still get there, even making a few detours along the way. Do any of us believe that an original SF endgame plan EVER involved smooth sailing and a quick, happy reunion? If they really were originally planning on having Emma get involved with August, then they were already planning a triangle-ish detour for SF anyway, they just changed the route that the detour is taking when they decided to go with Hook, (due to his popularity with fans) instead.

Ah, nicely spotted! Agreed that it would have been nice if they’d taken actual pics to use instead (there’s a pic of Emma & Snow in her apartment that was taken specifically to be a photo in a frame, if memory serves, so it’s not like they hadn’t done this sorta thing before), but at least I guess the screencap pics can be definitively linked to that Manhattan ep. If that was their reasoning, then I’m inclined to think that all the pics she has there are from the Manhattan ep, not also pics of Henry’s younger years.

Check out the larger image of it that @OnceABC is using as their background image at the moment. It looks like she’s holding a needle, which I assume will have something to do with the dripping blood in the promo.
What if Rapunzel IS the Witch in disguise?
There’d still have to be an actual Rapunzel though, if that guy we think was playing her father was actually her father. We never got any hints of a mother being cast though, which leads me into this next quote…
“The Grudge describes a curse that is born when someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage or extreme sorrow. The curse is an entity created where the person died.” Could Rapunzel have something to do with The Dark One?
Maybe her mother died? BTW, the next part of the wikipedia description: “Those who encounter this evil supernatural force die and the curse is reborn repeatedly, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. The following events are explained in their actual order; the original film is presented in a non-linear narrative.” It does sound rather Dark One-ish. Though for Rapunzel to be tied to the Dark One Curse, wouldn’t she, and her father, have to have lived a looooooonnng time ago, so why are they seemingly alive in present day?
Hard to tell what the one in her right hand is of, but that definitely looks like Henry in her left hand. Looks like those who have been speculating that she’d find photos taken during Manhattan might be on the money.
Over the last several pages I’ve loved the posts from Laurel, slurpeez, molly, Macy, Heather and PoM! Get outta my head, the lot of you. 😉
One thing that PoM said: “There is a marked difference between season 2 Hook and Season 3 Hook. Yes, it is “character growth” but it happened all too quickly.” This is something that struck me in the interview, their confirmation that the decision on the death was made between seasons. To many viewers, Hook at the end of S2 and Hook at the start of S3 seem very disjointed. He was remembering Bae at the end of S2, but come S3 it was “EmmaEmmaEmma, oh hai old friend Neal, Imma get your EmmaEmmaEmma to fall in love with me, so sucked in friend, because EmmaEmmaEmma.” I feel like that wonky shift in Hook’s character could be explained if they decided between seasons that they needed to take Hook in a very specific direction because they wanted him to be in a specific place by the time his big, sacrificial, redemptive death came around. No other characters have had a seemingly inexplicable shift like that that would suggest that the writers made a big decision between seasons that their storyline would take a new trajectory. And FWIW, an explanation like that could also go some way to backing up what Adam tweeted about how no character was going anywhere unless and until the character has grown, because they got an idea for a specific path of growth that Hook would be going along.
Eddy was the one who actually said the two bigger giveaways that’s part of what makes me think that Eddy gave away a little more than Adam usually does and what doing that would do to the fandom since Eddy just avoids twitter altogether.
It was Adam who said the big thing: “Adam: We sure hope so—he’s not going anywhere.”
