ParticipantJo – I say this with a lot of love and affection….you really need to let go of the ‘evidence’ because it’s not really telling us anything. Until the show starts back up again we know absolutely NOTHING story wise about any photos that we’re seeing (and don’t get me started on the tooly Tumblr spoiler which I just saw at lunch and was the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read) so IMO, panicking and losing hope is awfully premature.
THIS times a frillion! Honestly, we get glimpses of the shooting process for only a few scenes per ep, and there are so many scenes in every ep that we know nothing about. We haven’t seen WW filmng many scenes, or even Robin and Regina, and we KNOW that all of them will have a large screen presence in S3B. So how come when MRJ isn’t seen on set for a little bit, it instantly means he’s dead, when it doesn’t mean the same for other characters? I honestly don’t get why people seem to use different rules when it comes to MRJ being on set or not. If we get promo pics of Neal lying in a coffin, then by all means, freak out, but unless and until that happens, there’s no point in jumping to conclusions, because we really don’t actually have any conclusive “evidence” that he’s died at all.
A lot of people are great at putting out volumes of headcannons about how Neal is unimportant, and obviously it must be him that’s dead but some of these are the same people who will say things in chat like “Neal didn’t know about the curse when he left Emma.” Or will insist Emma ignored him at the townline. When people are editing the show in their own memories to quite that extent, it does make me question the speculation and spoilers that get filtered by them too. I know many of them aren’t doing it on purpose out of dislike for the character but simply they WANT and NEED to believe that things are this way because of how much they like Hook. They often admit they watch only for Hook, and that’s not how I think the show is written. I do not think (ABC media aside ) that the writers think of Hook as the main character around which the show revolves.
THIS times a frillion + 1!
Emma has lost Neal three times and twice found him. She’s bound to find him a third time. It’s the way these things usually turn out in epic narratives and fairytales. Neal and Emma’s destinies are entwined; they have been since the beginning when Rumple made her the savior of the curse designed to locate his son. Yes, fate brought them together for a reason, and while that fate kept them apart because of the first curse, it’ll bring them around together in the end. That is what fairytales are all about: fulfilling one’s personal narrative as one strives to achieve a happy ending. It’s been shown quite clearly that Emma and Neal both have the same goal of Tallahassee (family and home); all that remains is them working out how to be together.
Here’s hoping third time will be the charm. Like, a charm that hangs on a keychain kinda charm. 😉

ParticipantNothing gives you a dose of reality like being stuck in a genie bottle for centuries.
In that audition youtube for the role of his brother, weren’t they talking about stealing something? Been a while since I watched it, so I might be completely making that up? Anyway, that would fit Cyrus’ previous personality by the sound of it.

ParticipantSO MANY PICS! *FLAILNG* Seriously, never thought I’d see the day.

ParticipantLOL Love that gifset, but I feel it’s not quite complete. It needs one of these on the end for what we’ll do when they finally kiss again…

😉Mick, WORD to your post on the previous page about how if either died as things currently stand it would be wholly unsatisfying and such a waste.

ParticipantIt’s an intriguing theory, that could tie several story elements together in an interesting and emotional way. It all sorta hinges on Blackbeard really being Davy Jones, which I really hope he is. I just think that showing Hook risking his own safety to save Neal would be the perfect redemptive parallel to him having risked Bae’s safety by handing him over to Pan, and maybe that could entail handing his own body and soul over in place of Neal’s. And so help me God if we don’t get SOMETHING to elaborate on the CaptainFire relationship in S3B.

ParticipantPretty sure that’s what Tink was wearing in the 316 scene in the street.

ParticipantGOAT were disposable though, so I’m reasonably forgiving when it comes to how unceremoniously they got killed off. They didn’t work out as well as they’d originally hoped, so they wanted to get rid of them. I’ll never be OK with what they did to August, and suspect that had something to do with how popular Colin was as Hook. I think they originally had other plans for August, but ended up wanting to give Hook more screen time instead, so they had to do something different with August, and unfortunately that’s how they chose to handle it. If the death is Hook, then I do think it could resonate as a strong plot point, because I think it could show some worthwhile character development if they have him die in a sacrificial way. Saying the storyline “demands” the death is some pretty strong language though, and I do think they could give Hook a redemptive arc without death being necessary. I can’t see how anyone else’s death would really serve their individual storyline and/or the broader storyline in any sort of necessary way though.
Loved Adam’s tweet about how Neal gets talked about in the writers’ room all the time. 🙂

ParticipantMolly, I completely agree! It would just make so little sense for them to kill off Neal for so many reasons, so I’m honestly not worried just because we haven’t seen pics of him on set. What we do see set pics of is such a tiny amount of what’s actually in each ep. Like I said in the chat just before, just because we’ve only seen Bec Mader actually filming about 4 outdoor scenes, do we expect to only see her in 4 scenes in all the eps they’ve shot thus far? Of course not. So much more gets shot behind closed doors, so just because no one’s seen MRJ, that doesn’t mean he’s not still there and working. Honestly, if it’s Neal that dies, I’ll be legit shocked and they’ll have to do some incredibly creative writing for it to seem like a natural progression of the story, given what we’ve already seen. Neal is one of their few OCs, they wouldn’t just turn around and kill him off. And MRJ loves the character, he freaking talks about Neal in first person in interviews for freak’s sake, so I really can’t see him just wanting to up and leave the show. Seriously, nothing about the character of Neal biting the big one makes any sorta logical sense to me, so I can’t bring myself to be doom and gloom about it.
In other news: OMG THE KISSING DUCKIES!! LOVE!! <3 😀

Whale watching? Do you think Ariel speaks whale?
Fluently. It’s a bit like German.
Just as long as she doesn’t try to speak it on land.

ParticipantI can already smell the gifsets and edits that this ep will provide for our little corner of the fandom. LOL
Remember with the Good Form flashbacks how we sorta freaked out about how the buildings in the background looked like they might be matchy with Eric’s kingdom? Wonder if there could be some merit to that theory? Eric’s gonna be in 317 as well, at least briefly, (seems like Ariel’s gonna be in it more, because I think Gil already left town). Maybe flashing back to Hook’s early days as a pirate will tie him to Eric’s ancestor, and then in present day it’ll be Eric’s girlfriend who helps set Hook back to a healthier mindset? Ariel will surely have to have some positive influence on him in present day, how can he hang out with someone so sweet and friendly and not have that rub off on him a bit?
RG, I am very intrigued by this talk of retrieving lost souls and Davy Jones. Hmmmmmm.
