ParticipantI just keep coming back to what they all have in common: water. While we don’t know for sure that A and E will keep the water element in their take on the WWW, it is in the novel and we know that is their jumping off point. It’s so iconic that I’d be super surprised if the witch wasn’t afraid of water.
But Hook and Ariel wouldn’t work willingly with the WWW, right? Especially Ariel who is a very minor character and was used more as part of Snow’s back story. So why have Ariel there at all? I think it has to do something with her ability to travel through worlds.
And they were shooting on the dock, near the water. I’d love to know what JoAnna was wearing, regular clothing or the purple and blue getup like she’d just got out of the water. The only reason I can imagine Ariel being separate from everyone else is if she’d been given a mission to swim somewhere and retrieve something. And if so, then maybe she surfaced near the JR, and that explains why Hook’s there with her. But it’d be a bit cruel for them to make JoAnna wear that costume at night. Poor girl would freeze her fins off.

ParticipantWhat I find curious is that the WW is there with them: two hero characters and the villain. And more to the point, two hero characters who have never interacted in-show before.
It’s quite the curious combo of characters.

ParticipantAs long as it was only a deliberate betrayal from his point of view, that could work nicely. Ariel’s so sweet and naive, she probably wouldn’t realise it if she did something that he’d hold a grudge over.

ParticipantWhat Schmacky said!

ParticipantIt would be sorta random having them suddenly meet in present day, I guess. If he’d known her previously though, why is he still in the “mermaids are all bad news” mindset, because there’s no way anyone could meet Ariel and not notice what a kind heart she has. I’d like to see her having an effect on him in present day where she forces him to change his perception of mermaids, so if they DO meet for the first time in present day, I think they could play that out in an interesting way.
Maybe Hook had a run in with Triton back in the day? We haven’t had any casting call news for a Triton though, so maybe not?

ParticipantPerhaps we’ll see why Hook dislikes mermaids.
I hope so! I wanna see flashbacks showing how he came to be so distrusting of mermaids, along side him being willing to give Ariel the benefit of the doubt in present day. Because 1) character development, and 2) more mermaids are always good stuff, you can never have too many mermaids.

ParticipantAt the moment, I’m thinking that perhaps they need something from another world to help with fighting the WW, and that’s how Ariel gets involved. Maybe she gets back to SB and WW is there waiting to take her out, and Hook’s the only one around and so ends up defending her, and we could get that paralleled with flashbacks showing why he hates and distrusts mermaids. Perhaps? There’s gotta be a reason that it was only those three characters, (assuming it was only those three that she mentioned in the tweet who were there), down by the water, at night, and that’s what I’ve come up with (for now).

ParticipantThey said mermaids couldn’t take others with them
Thought that might have been mentioned by someone, but couldn’t remember if it was on Twitter, or an interview, or if I was just imagining it.
Evidence and tweets show the death has already taken place by episode 3×17
We have nothing conclusive. The first person who said it was already filmed was a fan hanging around set who heard from someone, who probably heard from someone else, who probably heard from someone else that it had been filmed, and then they later changed their story and then deleted their tweets. Even if the cemetery pics ARE a funeral, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s THE funeral. Just because they’ve said a main character is dying, that doesn’t mean someone else hasn’t died as well. Happy’s fate has been in doubt since the Twitter drama. Maybe they’ll kill off Gorham’s character, considering he appeared to be in the scene in the street where WW and Regina were potentially throwing down. Basically, we know next to nothing about what’s actually been shot in relation to the death, or if it’s even happened yet, so there’s no way to be sure that it’s happened before 317.

ParticipantI wouldn’t be completely shocked if they filmed various death related scenes to throw people off. RG mentioned in another thread several days ago how they once did that on LOST, filmed a scene with a person in a coffin with several different people, so that the actual truth of who it was wouldn’t get leaked. The cemetery scene could be anything though, and even if it WAS a funeral, that doesn’t mean it was Neal’s. For all we know, Gorham’s character gets struck down in the street scene. And there’s the never ending speculation that Happy’s gonna bite the big one because of the Twitter drama. Basically, the cemetery scene could have been any number of things.

ParticipantAriel can travel between worlds herself, but I dunno that she can take humans with her, or open portals or anything like that. If so, then Rumple coulda just used a mermaid to get to our world and wouldn’t have needed the Curse. Maybe she needs to go get something from another world that will help them defeat WW, who is there trying to stop Ariel from leaving?
