ParticipantIf Merlin’s lost love = original DO (or first DO tied to the Dagger) = Nimue, and if we are indeed doing the whole Underworld thing for the second half of the season, is it possible that DO magic originates from the Underworld — like a bit that got trapped on the wrong side of a realm, and either mutated into or was harnessed as dark magic? Perhaps because the original DO (Merlin’s lost love, or her immediate predecessor) wanted more and more power, and caused some sort of rift between realms meant to be kept separate?
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Dark Magic originated in the Underworld. How could it get unleashed into the world?
Maybe Nimue’s dying, and Charon’s coming for her, but Merlin tries to save her, and Charon has some magical plot device doo-hickey full of dark matter for problem cases like this where folks try to resist and he’s gotta drag them outta there with the black tentacle stuff, but because it’s Merlin there’s a big old magic battle that happens, and he magics up a sword to fight with, and the dark matter enters the sword in order to control it, then thrusts itself into Nimue’s heart to finish her off, and when Merlin tries to pull it out the blade snaps, and in desperation to not have her leave, he does a magical whatever to create the Dagger and have her bound to it, so that as long as the Dagger stays with him, so will she, and as a result, dark magic stays in the world too.
Or something?

ParticipantYes! That was interesting — I was wondering about the exact same thing. That seemed like an interesting little slip. But if so, why does Merida think that Rumple should be the one to take on Emma?
Probably just a matter of convenience. She’s already been tasked with training him, so it’s safer to work with him rather than trying to run around town recruiting other people to her cause and risking Emma finding out that she’s up to something. If she sticks with Rumple, she can fool Emma into believing she’s just doing what she’s been told to.
the singular idea that Rumple is just straight up a coward is…not true.
Right?! And it’s a disservice to someone who is actually a very complicated and layered character, when they just get out the big red COWARD stamp and slam it on his forehead.

ParticipantI’d be OK with Emma having killed Merlin, because assuming that masked Dark One was his love Nimue, and she obviously got killed at some point, at least they’ll be together in the afterlife now if Emma offed Merlin to cast the Curse, and I figure Merlin would be happier there, rather than hanging around in the land of the living all alone.
Once she loses the darkness, Emma can be the next Sorcerer.

ParticipantYeah, that Dark One was totally Merlin’s lost lover.
What do I think of Merlin? Cute and sassy and I love him a little bit.

ParticipantWell, it always makes my twitchy when they harp on Rumple being a coward, because frankly I think it’s quite sensible to want to be there for your newborn child rather than suffering a brutal death in war. But I’m a big ole “war what is it good for” hippie, and the show seems intent on labeling him a coward for being a deserter, so whatever.
Anyway, did I mis-hear it, or did Merida have a line about, “Before you take on Emma” when she was training Rumple? As in, even though she’s being ordered to train him, she has an ulterior motive of training him up so he can take down Emma, as opposed to helping her? If that’s the case, then this whole IT’S BRAVE, YOU GUYS, BECAUSE HER MOVIE IS BRAVE AND SHE’S MAKING HIM BRAVE, GET IT, thing grates a little bit less, because it’s not quite as straight forward.

ParticipantNow give poor Violet back her heart, Swan!
The ep would have benefitted from a quick scene of Emma *poofing* into Violet’s room while she was sleeping and popping her heart back in. She’s obviously got it back if she’s making eyes at Henry in SB now.
I can’t really fault her for doing it. It was obvious when she took Violet’s heart that she wasn’t super thrilled to be doing it, she was almost in tears, and clearly didn’t take it lightly. Desperate times, desperate souls, desperate measures.

ParticipantJust finished watching.
I drank wine as I watched because I knew it was gonna hurt.
I AM NOT OK RIGHT NOW OK.

ParticipantIf he meant they were in the same scene, it must be some time travel mumbo jumbo.
Yeah, this has me quite perplexed. Plz no more time travel?

ParticipantI have so many thinky thoughts and hearwrenching feels about this show at the moment. But for right now, I just wanted to make sure everyone is aware that a dear friend will be returning to us in the next ep…
And might I say that it’s about freaking time!!!!
PS. I met Michael Rowe (Deadshot) last weekend, and he’s so super lovely, and so super cute, and I was so super nervous, but I survived and it was wonderful! 🙂 I’m glad the show hasn’t forgotten that Deadshot exists this season as a part of the HIVE stuff and they’ve mentioned him a few times, but I really wish they’d be allowed to bring him back for a flashback that shows him shooting Andy Diggle. Srsly, what deity do I have to make an offering to in order to make this happen?

ParticipantBut if he does snitch I see him snitching on himself. Like he would probably confess he did it. It seems Bonnie really cares for Asher and Asher loves Bonnie. So maybe Asher is taking the fall.
I think that’s it, yes. That final shot of Asher, I’m pretty sure that’s flashback, because the present day snippets have the blue tint to them, which that shot of Asher doesn’t have, and also it looks like the sky is light outside the cop station behind him, but the stuff with mostly dead Annalise and the totally dead DA is happening in the middle of the night. So I’m guessing that after he watched the vid of Bonnie’s childhood, he went to the cops to confess to killing Sam himself, to protect Bonnie.
PS. Bonnie left far too much bloody stuff lying around in that bathroom. Fair enough, clean up, but take the bloody rags away with you and burn them, woman.
