ParticipantWas this posted yet? Couldn’t remember having seen it before, apologies if it’s a repeat.
XWho do we think this is? The one on the left is definitely Emma, but I can’t make out the one in the right. My first thought was Lily however Agnes isn’t in Vancouver yet (going off all of her social media accounts anyway). The hair looks brown so I doubt it’s Regina. Ruby maybe?
Dunno who else a blonde could be other than Emma, but that doesn’t really look like her DO costume, and her hair is white now, and in a bun, but this person’s hair looks blonde, and maybe in a ponytail? I dare not let myself believe that the person in plaid could be Red unless and until I see a press release with Meghan’s name in it.

ParticipantThank you for the Suck It compilation, Phee
Gosh, I miss that show!
One of the fun-est shows ever! 🙂

Participant2) I utterly reject Will Smith as Deadshot (for other fandom reasons, and to stand in solidarity with Phee)
Bless you! The other day I caught up with a friend, we sat at a picnic table in which someone had carved the word “sniper” which resulted in me saying, “Awwww, like Deadshot,” and moments later I was ranting about stupid DC/WB. 😛 For those who have no idea what RG and I are talking about, basically, DC are keeping their TV and movie universes separate, meaning that two different versions of the one character can technically exist because they’re not contradicting each other. Despite this, the higher ups forced the show Arrow to “kill off”, (no body, no death, but the building he was standing on exploded and then the showrunner said the character was “off the table for the nonce”), their version of the character Deadshot, who had been a recurring character since the third ep of the show, and has a close connection to one of the main characters, John Diggle, (Deadshot and Diggle’s relationship means so much and is so important, OK), because an organisation called HIVE hired him to assassinate Diggle’s brother. Finally, next season, they’re getting around to delving into the HIVE story, and this is the point in time when TPTB at DC/WB have told TPTB at Arrow that they’re not allowed to use Deadshot any more. It’s…words I can’t say in this forum.
Higher ups have also vetoed the use of Harley in the show, (she had a very brief cameo but then they were told they couldn’t use her). They had Katana in the show last season, but shuffled her back off to her life of obscurity, and it’s surely no coincidence that that character is also in the SS movie. The show has also sidelined their version of Captain Boomerang, (not even namechecking him in a scene where he was talked about), who could have been a cool recurring character if they’d been allowed to keep having the SS on the show. As someone who doesn’t read comics, I discovered that the SS was a thing because it was on Arrow, so I was excited for the movie due to the show, but then the movie had an adverse affect on the show, which shouldn’t be a thing because like I said, separate universes, so can they please bugger off and leave our established characters and stories alone, so now I’m bitter to the point of not wanting to see the movie.
BLAH, sorry for getting ranty, it’s just a thing that I can’t help but rant about any time I get even remotely started on the topic.
Anyway, Viola Davis is inspired casting for Waller.
Margot Robbie is looking like a cool and creepy Harley, and it seems they’ll be flashing back to her normal life before the Joker screwed her up, which should make for a tragic story.
Heath Ledger’s Joker is gonna be a hard act to follow, but it seems that Leto is the type of actor who’ll go all in for the role and produce a compelling take on the character.
Is it a good thing to get people excited for a movie this far in advance and or is it better to wait until nearer the actual movie’s release date and then capitalise on that anticipation?
Feed the masses tidbits to keep them talking. Vids and pics of the filming have been leaking, so they gave the people something official to start talking about too. There’s no way they weren’t gonna officially release this trailer after SDCC. Everyone knows that things that are shown at SDCC end up on youtube, and they would have been counting on it so they could kick up a faux stink about the piracy and then act like they were grudgingly forced to release the trailer for everyone. It’s all orchestrated for the hype.
People were already excited for and talking about this movie because it’s always a big deal when the Joker is appearing in live action. Harley is also a character with a huge following, and this movie is her first live action portrayal, (not counting the 3 second appearance on Arrow where we didn’t even see her face and no one addressed her by her name…though apparently they shot stuff of her and Deadshot snarking at each other, which would have been glorious, and now I’m trying not to rant again :-P), so the anticipation for the movie is huge because of that. Releasing the first official trailer this early is just feeding the hype that was already bubbling away, so it wouldn’t start to die down.

ParticipantSome words of wisdom from Kiki…
There’s this big hole that exists in the storytelling right now because of Neal’s absence. There’s this big emotional void where Neal experiencing the woman he loves being overtaken by the same darkness that took his father away from him should be, where Neal experiencing his father finally being freed from the Dark One should be, where Neal trying to shield his son from the same experience he went through should be. The emotional crux of what this story should be is just completely gone.
You can’t look at this current DO storyline, at the overall story from the beginning of the show, and the connections they have Neal/Bae from season one and logically say that there was nothing more planned for him than what he got.

ParticipantShe doesn’t specify HTGAWM, but I would assume they’d need Rebecca back again, so…

ParticipantWell I’m glad they at least won’t be dragging out the Not!DarkSwan business beyond the first ep. And this costume seems better than the one we’ve seen previously, looks textured, kinda like black feathers, as it should be, (though I hope there’s no shots of her from behind because they’ve gone a lacklustre job with her hairline at the back).

ParticipantSo awesome that Viola got nominated!! 🙂

ParticipantProps to whoever it was that matched up what Belle’s carrying. I reckon Rumple’s heart is in it. A thing made of opaque white glass is easy for them to add some white heart glow to. If they’re off to find Merlin for a way to fix both Emma and Rumple, it’d make sense to take his heart for diagnosis.
