The idea of them rebounding together doesn’t seem quite right. I feel Hook has to change who he is first, in terms of that ruthlessness and thirst for vengeance, not reform out of romantic love for someone.

Having a relationship with Emma that doesn’t end up as an actual romance would be a learning curve for him, though, so I wouldn’t really classify a future involvement with anyone as being a rebound from Emma. Also, it’d be part of him reforming his relationship with Bae, so there’s redemption and personal growth there without him just changing for a woman.

So all of Hookriel (or really any Hook ship) is based on a lot of guess-work about what he might be like beyond “you killed my Milah, prepare to die!”. What was he like before he met her, when he was with her? We have only glimpses and the few scenes I saw say classic romantic swashbuckling pirate rather than thuggish, brute type pirate.

I’d say he had some thug in him. He challenged a cripple to a duel, and was happy to let Rumple think that he and his crew were gonna rape his wife. And later, when Dark One Rumple accidentally on purpose bumped into him on the street, Hook mocked the “gutter rat”. That being said, he actually showed up for an appointed duel when he knew he was gonna be fighting the Dark One, so he’s not without bravery and honour. And he’s been in love with a dead woman for about 300 years, so he’s certainly got the capacity to love deeply, and for all the whoring around he probably did before Milah, I doubt he’s been with anyone since, (which may well explain his constant, sometimes crass flirting, because he’s WAY outta practice with the ladies and he knows it, so he’s overcompensating to keep up appearances).

I’m really interested to see what he was like before he became a pirate! I think there’s a lot of good buried down in there, and his redemption will be dropping the ego a bit, (not completely, because he should always be confident and a bit cocky), and allowing those better traits to come to the surface again.

I sympathize a little with Milah in that I think she was miserable and did have few options in that type of society. Rumple wasn’t going to change for her, and she couldn’t change how miserable she felt trapped in the village. We see the pictures she drew to show that she is yearning for more beyond the confines of the village.

Now who does that sound like? A certain red head who also dreamed of life beyond ? Also willing to leave her family, thirsting for adventure? Of course, leaving a father, friends and sisters is vastly more acceptable than leaving a young son who is dependent on you.

As a general rule, I’m on Team Good Riddance when it comes to Milah, but after reading that fic I posted a bit of a few pages back, where Hook was remembering how he loved her for her wanderlust, I did soften towards her a bit, because she’s got some major similarities to Ariel. Still think she needs a slap for having up and left her young son, but I’m not as completely unsympathetic as I used to be since seeing the Ariel-ish traits in her.

So no one faults Ariel but think for a minute about the fact her best friend is a fish, and that her husband’s people eat fish. Ah, the dark and gruesome side of Disney. It is like one of those Vampire tales in a way, if you look at it from the fish’s perspective!

😆 I guess when they made her BFFs a fish and a crab, they had to write merfolk as vegetarian. I’d say the scene in Splash where Madison totally tears apart a lobster with her bare hands is a more realistic representation of merfolk’s eating habits.

We need to understand what background they are giving Hook and Ariel, the closer this crackship gets to speculative, the tougher it is to just invent the perfect scenario in my head. I always assumed a lot, that Ariel would be main cast eventually, that she would be in her 30′s, that there would be this mashup with Eric. The last is not happening, and now we have this curious “become a mermaid” thing. Where is Eric? Did she love him and lose him or did she leave him for adventure? Her story may not even be as big as Eric’s.

Man, I’ve been through so many versions of headcanon with these two, but it seems no matter how many times I amend it, I always come up with something that makes total sense in my head, so I just can’t stop shipping it. 😆 Also, like RG said, Ariel would get his need to keep moving and exploring, because that’s a part of her as well, so I think they’re a perfect fit as an endgame.

As for Eric’s role, the fact that Gil has only now arrived in Vancouver when they’re probably mostly done with shooting 306 makes me wonder if maybe he’s gonna be a supporting character in Ariel’s longer, overall story. But we’ll just have to wait and see how long he’s around for and when. Good thing about Gil is he seems so excited to be on the show, he’ll probably tweet about it whenever he’s gonna be shooting and will be easy to stalk. 😛

JoAnna is not that unknown but she does have a young family so is she willing to relocate part of the year to film OUAT? Colin obviously made the choice for his career to do just that, but JoAnna is a bit more “Privileged” (she starred in that show). She has done the commute to Canada (though other side of the country, Montreal) as a child star, so she has experienced that. Her husband likely travels a lot for his sports career. I think it is hard to say either way.

I know nothing about how baseball season works over there, and this is something I never expected to google in relation to OUAT, but I see that the season is April to Sept, which I guess means he’s almost done with work for this season, and may have a chunk of time off before pre-season training starts up again? If so, re-locating the whole family to Vancouver for a bit might not be an issue.

Just because she didn’t say she recognised it, doesn’t mean she didn’t recognise it. She may not have wanted to reveal too much of what she knows. Hook’s gonna know the place, so she doesn’t have to reveal her own knowledge and open herself up to a whole bunch of questions just yet.

Also, even if she’s been there before, that doesn’t necessarily mean she’s seen a map of the place, so she may have legit not recognised it.

I think it’s highly likely that the JR5 have met Felix. If PP sent him to give Rumple a welcome message, chances are he sent him to do the same for the rest. Also, it’d mean they could show Hook and Felix face to face again, which they’ll wanna do because they’ve shown them interacting already. I can just imagine Felix sneering out from under his hood all, “And so, we meet again, Captain. Welcome back.” Then he’ll turn to Regina and be all, “And same to you, your Majesty,” and everyone can be all, “Say what, Regina’s been here before too?!”

The writer of that article just assumed that meant that Regina would meet him early on, and therefore since Regina is in NL he would have to be hail from Neverland. The writer made that bit up and didn’t think about the fact that maybe Regina meets the love interest in flashback or that someone else might come to NL unexpectedly (like say, Robin Hood arriving with Neal from FTL?). Or that Regina might end up back in SB earlier in the season than we all think. Or that Regina doesn’t meet the love interest, but we do.

Writers of these articles are total amateurs at crackpot speculation. 😛 That being said, from memory, on this particular article, the “could be paired with him” question at the end actually had “with him” as a link to their report on Sean Maguire’s casting.

Tink probably knows everyone’s business in NL, but Hook’s been out of the loop for a while, and needs to know the current lay of the land.

Since Hook is trying to find Tink to lead them to PP’s hideout, it suggests Hook and Tink have had previous interactions.

It also suggests that he thinks they can trust and work with her, which doesn’t sound like the actions of someone who’s been involved in a slighting. I do still like the theory that he stole fairy dust from her to get out of NL though, so haven’t totally ruled out the possibility that they did have a run in back in the day. For the most part though, I imagine their relationship having been about the snarky, flirty banter. She probably made NL a little less boring for him.

I also imagine them being similar in that she’ll work with whoever will further her own agenda, because traditionally speaking, she couldn’t hold more than one emotion at once, so I can see her chopping and changing a lot. So while she’s worked for PP, she’s also done her own thing, which could have involved interacting with Rumple back in her former life in FTL. Anyone who was in a position to influence Regina at that time in her life was a threat to Rumple corrupting her. It seems that Tink was close to Regina, so she was likely on Rumple’s hitlist. The only person close to Regina who got to stay was her father. He wasn’t a threat because his will and influence was far weaker than Rumple’s. Actually, Rumple may have even used him to drop the hint to Regina about the spellbook.

Question: Are the rumors true about Once Upon a Time introducing Tinker Bell? —Bonnie
Ausiello: I’ll answer that question by describing to you the new character of Violet and letting you draw your own conclusions. How about that? Vi is a mischievous twentysomething whose penchant for troublemaking belies the heart of a true survivor. (Interesting side note, especially for Hook if she is Tinkerbell: She never lets a slight go unpunished!)

Exactly, it’s not a quote from K&H, it’s pure speculation on the part of the writer. If they had in quotes, something like, “Hook should watch out because Tink never lets a slight go unpunished,” then yeah, it’s obviously about Hook because it’s something K&H actually said. But for all we know, K&H said, “she never lets a slight go unpunished,” and the writer speculated that Tink’s feisty, Hook’s feisty, Hook’s been in NL, so they probably had a run in at some point. We don’t even know if that piece of info actually came from an interview with K&H at all, or if it was just from a more detailed casting call than what was leaked.

Basically, unless there’s an actual quote from K&H, don’t believe it word for word. And even if there is a quote from K&H, be aware that the writer can still twist the meaning of it if it’s only a partial quote, which they often are.

It’s so odd too, because there’s a link in the thread about the OUAT photos to a post by someone who was involved, and they said, “This was a 4 day combined gallery shoot for both Wonderland and Once Upon A Time.” So both were planned and photographed at the same time. Makes it even more confusing as to how those OUAT pics were so crap, if chances are they were even taken by the same person.

Also, interesting that Phee thinks Tink’s banishment to NL is Rumple’s doing. I hadn’t considered that. Still think Tink’s been in NL a lot longer than just 39-40 years but it’s a thought.

Could be much longer in NL time. A tweak of the theory is that she was in NL previously, which is why she hasn’t been around to help Regina for most of her life. I’m assuming Tink is meant to be Regina’s FGM, but hasn’t been around, but may well have been around when Regina was a child, which is why they look like old friends in the pic. But then you’ve still gotta account for how she got to NL previously. Rumple could have sent her there before as well, again it comes back to Tink being a positive influence in Regina’s life, which is why Rumple needed her out of the way. So if he’d sent her there once before, back when Regina was just a child, but she finally busted out and came back to see engaged Regina, then Rumple is all, “Aaannnd, back you go to NL, and this time, STAY PUT.”

I don’t think Rumble had the power to banned TB to NL, other wise he would have done something like with Cora, Ogres etc.

Well, we dunno how he stopped that first Ogres War, so maybe he did zap them away somewhere. He ended that particular war to save Bae from having to go and fight, but in later years, with the following Ogres Wars, he had no such emotional investment that inspired him to put an end to it. If anything, the war being ongoing was profitable for him, because people would make deals with him in exchange for protection. That’s how he ended up with Belle.

As for Cora, I’m sure Rumple could have quite easily pushed her through the looking glass himself, but the point of that exercise wasn’t really to get rid of Cora, it was to get Regina to have a taste of power, so he could sink his claws in and start corrupting her.
