ParticipantMy reaction was when she was all, “You figured out how to get the darkness out of me once before,” and I was all, “Ohhhh, so this is why we had to go through that nonsensical plot, just to set this up.”

ParticipantUnpopular opinion here, but I think they should’ve just killed him off.
Many of us who have loved the character have been expecting him to die and have felt like it would have been the best option.
Do I think he’s redeemed himself? Absolutely not. Rumple should have to work to earn it. Admittedly, I need to rewatch the scene with his new glowy-white heart to hear what the Apprentice said about it. What I would prefer is that this new heart be more of a blank slate rather than automatically making Rumple good in temperament.
I like your blank slate idea. Wish I had faith that that’s the direction they’ll go with it. This is what the Apprentice said: “Rumplestiltskin was the Dark One for centuries. His return to the man he used to be will not be easy. This will preserve him, until we discern if we can help him.”

ParticipantHenry actually getting stuff to do was kind of wonderful! The scene where he landed in FTL, and his reaction as he realised where he was, I’m gonna say it’s the best moment on the show ever. I enjoyed seeing him interacting with Regina, trying to get her to believe, it felt very much like what he went through with Emma back in the day, right down to landing on her doorstep all, “Hi, so I’m your son.”
But as much as I enjoyed having Henry front and centre this ep, the scene where he asked the Apprentice about bringing his dad back to life rang totally empty because we haven’t seen Henry at all bothered by Neal’s death before now. If that loss has actually been effecting him, we should have been seeing it, but just having him bring it up out of the blue like that, it was too little, too late.

ParticipantGot all my available appendages crossed that NBC releases a trailer of some sort at their upfronts!

ParticipantBut, if we go with your supposition that Neal’s death was never recorded in any book, that only supports that his death can be undone for the very reason that it was never recorded in the first place. Thus, the original quill & ink that created his past, most certainly could rewrite his outcome.
I don’t follow your logic? If his death wasn’t written by anyone in the first place, then it can’t be re-written by anyone. If you’re talking about changing his story way back when, it could end up changing a lot of things on the show, not the least of which is Henry never existing, and maybe he died a century or so ago instead of in present day if his life were changed to take a different course. Either way, he’s still dead in present day.
At this stage of the game, we should all know to read between the lines and to pick up key things that are said.
I used to. But as the show keeps barreling forward with new shiny PLOT after new shiny PLOT, I feel that the little things, and even big things, no longer hold any significance as the show moves on. Even things like Ursula’s whole existence already feel like ancient history that won’t have any impact on the show or the characters ever again.
The only Author that has had any significance to this show is the one who wrote Henry’s Book. That’s a question viewers have been nagging them to answer since the show began, so they’re answering it in the current plot. Any other Authors through time are irrelevant to the show beyond getting a brief mention by August a few episodes back. By next season they’ll be onto the next PLOT and the Author business will have been put behind them, and I would honestly be shocked if they ever go back to delve into previous Authors in future seasons. So no, I don’t personally put any weight in the semantics of Isaac.

ParticipantBecause if Rumple leaves the show, then you imagine they’ll write a way for Belle to leave, too? Guess that would make sense.
Yup, because really, what else would they have to do with her? They barely use her already, and if Rumple goes there’ll be even less ways for them to make her relevant to whatever story is going on. So send her off to see the world as her happily ever after because that’s what she always wanted to do, even before she met Rumple, and if Rumple’s funding it, he’s still a part of making her dreams come true. It would suck for people who want to see them back together, (and believe me I know how much that sucks because been there, still doing that), but I think they’ve written themselves into a bit of a corner, and that would be a logical way to conclude things.
If Robert Carlyle & Emilie De Ravin’s Series Regular Spots are lost…I’d wage that Sean Maguire snags one,
Yup, there’s no way Sean’s not getting a promotion next season, so they’ve gotta free up some main cast dollars, and getting rid of Emilie would have that covered. If the rumours about Bobby having a five year contract are fact, then they might still have to keep him on as main cast, even if he’s only popping up now and then in flashbacks.

ParticipantBumping this up in case anyone wants to get a last minute vote in still.
Also, just throwing it out there on the off chance it happens I can say I called it 😉 – I reckon he’s gonna die and then Belle’s gonna inherit his wealth and use it to go off and see the world like she always dreamed.

ParticipantRe #3, to me it feels like nothing more than the writers feeling like they had to acknowledge the elephant in the room and make up a reason for why he won’t be seen again.

ParticipantGreat news! Such a relief that the story will continue and we won’t have to live with that (non)ending.

ParticipantThough there seem to be multiple pieces of information suggesting no Jafar, the article still uses the word “uncorked”, which just makes me think of a bottle, which Jafar is currently stuck in. So, yeah.
As for how Emma becomes the new Dark One, weren’t there flashing lights and stuff on set? I’ve just been assuming that there’s a big storm cloud of dark magic stuff and Emma holds up the Dagger and it acts like a lightening rod and she gets zapped and that’s what transfers the power into her.
