ParticipantGuess they realised that the ridiculous sounding “Operation Mongoose” wouldn’t exactly make for good promo for the masses.

ParticipantWe won’t get any Bae in this ep because the only way to get him alive again would involve time travel, which the AU won’t involve. The AU will just be the current characters picked up and plonked in a present day FTL with their personalities flipped.

ParticipantTo me it looked like in that half second clip, he might have been struggling in that sword fight. If Rumple is dictating what type of person everyone is, it would stand to reason that he’d have Hook written as being someone weak. But this show doesn’t often make sense, so who knows which way they’ll go with him.

ParticipantI am just going to say but it looks like Emma is Charming and Regina is Snow.
Just a little bit, yeah.

ParticipantThe episode felt a bit disjointed, the separate story threads were very separate, but despite the lack of cohesion I still enjoyed parts of each part. (I just love the look of the show as a whole, the aesthetic, the lighting, the cinematography, so it’s always fun to look at for me, even if other parts of an ep might be lacking.)
Why is Falcone leaving Gotham now? Hadn’t he decided to stay at the mid season finale? Why the change?
I didn’t really get the sudden change either, seemed OOC for an uber successful Mob Boss to just up and run away with his tail between his legs.
That being said, I did like the moment between him and Jim and talking about his father. I don’t always connect with Jim, (but sidenote: he was pretty awesome in that gunfight scene), but I still think they’ve done a good job of giving him shades of grey. He’s not just this do gooder cop who’s gonna strut in and save the city, he’s had to compromise his principles a bit, do things he shouldn’t, get in bed with underworld figures. He was an idealist who got a reality check, but he’s still got aspirations of saving the city even if the job seems impossible.
Baby Batman takes another step to becoming Batman. Except there is no drama or intensity to it. I know what he’s about to become. We all do. There’s no mystery because in so many ways, he’s already Batman.
Knowing where he ends up doesn’t bother me. We have an idea where almost all of the characters will end up, but I still like seeing how they got there.
The Bruce and Alfred scenes were totally disconnected from the rest of the ep, but I liked how eventually they had the “stoic” callback to the previous ep that caused him to crack the mystery. It makes me more intrigued by Lucius Fox, who was obviously trying to drop the hint and steer Bruce in a particular direction so he’ll be able to carry on his father’s work, which it seems was a very secret part of his life. It makes me eager to see what exactly is down in that cave, and to see more of Lucius.
They had all season to make Barbara interesting and they finally manage to make her something more than the character that makes me want to poke my eyes out. I like the idea that Barbara is maybe Harley Quinn or something. But, again, is it too late? Do I really care after finding her so tiresome all season?
I think they were probably taken by surprise by how much ire the fandom had for the character, so took a timeout mid way through to come up with another direction to take her character. It worked on me, over the last few eps I’ve felt some real sympathy for her, and genuinely hoped she’d be OK, which is quite the turnaround from not being bothered if I never saw her again. I was fearing for Leslie’s safety during this ep, (again, another part of the ep that was disconnected from everything else), because Barbara seemed too chill. Then she calmly revealed how she’d been the one to slaughter her parents, then she picked up the big knife and yikes!
Guess there won’t be a Baby!Batgirl in this universe, because I don’t see Jim sleeping with Barbara ever again.
Oswald declaring himself “king” at the end made me chuckle, because a king penguin is an actual thing. Almost wanted to yell at him to shut up when he was spilling his guts to Falcone earlier. Was a bit of a callback to the previous ep where that hitman told Oswald that he never understood telling a person something right before you kill them. Seriously Oswald, if you want to kill him, just kill him, don’t waste time with the excessive gloating! But sometimes Oswald does know just the right thing to say, like when he pointed out to Fish that Maroni wouldn’t have a use for her, which kicked off that whole exchange that led to Maroni’s death. Desperate and crafty Oswald is desperately crafty. Frankly I’m surprised Fish didn’t put a bullet in Maroni earlier, dude dug himself a deeeep grave in the space of just a few minutes.
Had a feeling they’d “kill Fish off” without showing a body, juuuuuust in case some day they do want to bring her back for a guest spot, but if they don’t, it was still a good exit for her.
Could have done without Selina working for Fish, but on the other hand I reckon Selina observing Fish for a couple of weeks taught her some things that will help form her into Catwoman one day.
My fave part of the ep was probably the scene where we saw inside Ed’s head, (again, totally disconnected from everything else going on). It took me a second to figure out what was going on, but once I caught on it was pretty chilling. Is this a new evolution in his level of crazy, or has it always sounded like that inside his head? I think they’ve done a good job of scattering tidbits of him being odd through the season, working up to this finale moment where we see exactly how unhinged he is.
Anyway, it wasn’t a perfect ep, but overall I’d say I enjoyed it. It’s not left me wanting to curl up on the floor in agony over the long hiatus ahead, but it has left me intrigued to see what’s in store next season.

ParticipantWhat world is Isaac in when he’s an electronics salesman? Those customers don’t look like they’re dressed 1920s style.
I’m guessing he is originally from the Land Without Magic. Could be this is circa the 1960s, since they are selling old school color TV. The 1960s were when color TV became a thing.
OK, so, 1960s in our world would be around the time Snow and others in her generation were being born in FTL, yes? (2015 – about 55 years to account for the years since the Curse, and the age that Snowing were when he Curse hit.) If he got the Author job around that time, I guess he’s “known” that generation pretty much their whole lives.
It kind of looks like Rumple still has magic…
I’d be surprised if Rumple doesn’t tell Isaac to still give him the ability to use magic. He doesn’t wanna be the Dark One, but he loves magic too much to give it up completely.
Why hasn’t this pic been posted? I haven’t seen it in this thread if its here.
It had been posted on the previous page, but looks like it’s not showing up any more.

ParticipantThought I heard a commotion off in the distance, must be SQ Nation spontaneously combusting, (I’ve never read Swen fic but I’m pretty sure valiant Emma with a sword defending Regina is a common thing).
Hope Blue actually gets some character development this time. Her appearances are always so brief and one note. Make with some SNEAKY already!!

ParticipantI think the only reason Belle isn’t getting the villain treatment is because this is Rumple’s HEA– so no way would he turn her into a villain while he’s a hero. In his HEA, they are married and in love. So, everything changes, except for Belle and that’s because the Author is writing the story for himself.
It just occurred to me that seeing this HEA in the AU could be more evidence that Rumple will die once everything is set right again. If Rumbelle won’t be living HEA as the show continues, showing them happy and together in the AU is the writers throwing the shippers a consolation prize.
They’ve just had Regina realise she shouldn’t use Isaac to change her story, but Rumple is persisting, and it’d be quite the cruel lesson for him to learn if he gets a temporary taste of what could have been, before having to pay the ultimate price for the magic he used to try and get that HEA.

ParticipantShe seemed to show excitement when she felt the baby kick.
She’s not far enough along to have been able to feel the baby kick. She only said that when Emma was about to come at her to remind her, “Nope, remember I’m pregnant, you can’t lay a hand on me.” Her excitement in that moment wasn’t about being happy about the baby, it was being happy that she’s got protection now, and she’s got them all backed into a corner, and under her thumb, because she’s trapped and manipulated them by getting herself pregnant.

ParticipantHow do you feel about this solution?
Not at all surprised because I posted about Regina getting a third shot at being a mother to a child that’s not biologically hers a few days ago.
3. I think it’s cruel for Regina to take Zelena’s baby, which she doesn’t want to give up, and then make Zelena watch from a distance as the child grows up calling Regina “mommy”. It is essentially baby-snatching.
Not as cruel as Zelena was raping Robin. If Regina really wanted to be cruel, she wouldn’t allow Zelena to ever see the child at all, but she will. Having Zelena for a full time mother isn’t a healthy way for a child to be raised, so IMO it’s in the kid’s best interest to be raised by someone else.
