At first, I misread that post thinking that you said Johanna instead Joanna. I was thinking about the Once Upon a Time Johanna and I was confused with the post at first.
š Guess it does almost look like an H. JoAnna spells it with the capital A on her Twitter profile, so I figured that’s technically how it’s spelled.
I think the structure of two mini-seasons is deliberate as the writers want to get a look at how ratings are doing before mapping out the back half of the season.
Contracts can always be re-negotiated or may already contain options to bring her back for more stories and such.
Yes, I’ve been thinking that too, in relation to Robin. They have a definite plan for his first 4 eps, and depending on how that goes, they’ll then officially lock in the future of the character for the back 11.

I like that! Would explain them describing him as “competitive”. Could also potentially inspire him to switch sides and help the JR6, because he wants Henry out of the way just as much as they want him back. I’m suddenly worried about Devin’s fate.
I think PP is going to pretend to be friendly towards Henry whilst plotting his demise behind the scenes. We know Henry wants to be a hero so perhaps PP tells him that Henry was brought to Neverland to āsaveā it. Cue Henry going āokayā and PP rubbing his hands together in glee.
Wasn’t there an interview (at CC maybe?) where JMo said that Emma has a line about, “Why are we scared of PP?” because she only knows him from the stories in our world. Henry could have the same mindset. He could think it’s really pretty cool to get to meet PP, (we know he’s familiar with the stories because of that deleted scene of him and Neal on the JR). And that’s an excellent point about him wanting to be the hero, so he’d probably jump at the chance if PP told him he had this responsibility to save the whole world, and just accidentally on purpose didn’t mention the bit where he has to die.

Looks like the shot of Alice coming into Cyrus’ bottle?Ā But it’s odd that they doubled it up like that, because it does make it look a lot like a pair of glowing eyes. Hmmmm, very curious!One more point about Ariel, she’s the favourite Disney Princess of a LOT of people out there in the world. Disney is re-releasing The Little Mermaid on DVD/BluRay in October. Ep 6 should air the first week in November. I daresay there will be Ariel fans who are in the midst of reveling in their love of her due to the movie re-release, who have never watched the show before but will tune in just to see their take on Ariel. The character has huge potential to draw in more viewers. They’d be crazy to only give her 2 eps.
I hope Ursula is a character by herself and not Regina or Rumpelstiltskin. I love those two to death but Ursula is just waaaay too good to not have her tentacles up on screenā¦..
Plus sheād have a nice backstory. In a deleted scene of the Disney version, it was revealed Ursula was King Tritonās sister and once Queen of The Sea but Triton banished her for using black magic and she vowed for revenge. Iām sure OUAT could use that!

There’s another thread around here somewhere (might be in General Discussion and Theories?) that discusses the potential for their version of The Little Mermaid.
I’m almost positive that Regina will essentially play the role of Ursula. The scene where she mentions a mermaid to Rumple, it’s the ep where she has that different coloured streak in her hair, just like Ursula does, and I think it’s a hint. I’m really interested to see what they do with Triton, especially considering Rumple has a trident amongst his treasures on display in his castle. The only scene we see it in, is the scene when Regina’s there, which is another little thing that I think points to her being Ursula. I suspect the squid may be its own entity.
I think the at least means sheāll start out with two episodes but become more central in the latter half of the season
Yes, “at least” just means that’s all they’re able to confirm right now. Same thing with Robin getting, “at least a 4 episode arc”. It’s just the starting point. I think they may have said something similar for Hook when he started out too, and he’s now in the main cast.
They’ve done setup for mermaids as far back as season 1, and especially at the end of season 2. Ariel’s story will also involve Ursula, and Triton, and her love story, and all of that cannot be told fully if she’s only appearing in 2 eps.
Rumour is they’ve had JoAnna in mind for this role since the show began, (JMo mentions it in an interview from 2011), but then she got other jobs, and got pregnant. She had the baby in May, and now they’ve finally signed her up, after wanting her on the show for 2 years. If they waited until the time was perfect, for the story, and for a particular actress, safe to say she’s getting more than 2 eps. If it was gonna be such a small role, they’d have slotted her in with any random actress before now.
Henryās growing up, he canāt always be the innocent little boy caught in the crossfire. Whilst that was alright for season 1, he needs a storyline for his adolescence. Henry going off the rails would mean that his parents (Emma, Neal and Regina) would need to step up rather than letting Henry do as he pleases. Henry needs to learn that actions have consequences. So far he hasnāt experienced any bad consequences.
This could make for a great storyline!
If Henry has magic, I could honestly see him going either way with it. He’s had his moments where he’s spoken out against it quite emphatically, but on the flipside, it was magic that saved SB, and he’s the one who encouraged that power out of Emma. He was interested in the process when Regina was making the sleeping curse for Charming.
If PP is as twisted as we’re expecting, and if he’s holding Henry prisoner, that could well result in Henry having the, “I’ll never be like you,” mentality. But then again, he’s a tween boy who’s about to hit puberty and go all crazy anyway, and if you add magical ability into that mix, even if he starts out with good intentions, one wrong, impulsive step, and he could spiral out of control.
With all 3 of his parents having different stances on magic, it would be really interesting to see how each of them reacted and how they’d influence him…
Regina – Very well versed in magic, also well versed in letting dark magic consume you and spiraling out of control. She’d probably be the first to notice if Henry started to slip into the bad stuff. Would she tell the rest, or try to handle it herself? And if she chose the latter, how would that affect her own rehab process if she’s trying to do better in the future?
Emma – Knows magic exists, knows she has it, doesn’t know how to use it. She and Henry could learn together. She’s pure, True Love, so I can’t see her turning to the dark side the way Henry may have the potential to. They could ultimately end up as adversaries, and Emma would have to learn about magic real fast if she wanted to be able to bring him back to the good side before he’s too far gone.
Neal – Dislikes magic to a rather large extent, and probably wouldn’t want his son doing it at all, but may concede that it’s part of him and he at least has to learn how to control it, so it doesn’t end up controlling him. But in that process of learning, it does end up controlling him, and Neal beats himself up for not having been more adamant about keeping his son away from magic as much as possible.
It could provide for some great interaction between all of them.
Dunno how many of you ever watched Charmed, but this is making me think of Wyatt. First born son of one of the most powerful witches ever, and there’s a future in which he’s become corrupted and rules the Underworld, and they try to figure out in present day how they can prevent his evil future from happening. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyatt_Halliwell
And because I’m seeing just about everything through alternating pairs of crackshipper goggles these days, gotta add that it could extend to influencing RegalHood potential. Regina doesn’t typically come out on top when she does business with Rumple, but for a long time there’s been no one else she considers worthy to do business with, so she’s been stuck with him as an associate, (then along came Cora, and that didn’t work so well for Regina either). If Robin is a strong, no nonsense kinda guy who has a beef with Rumple and stands up to him and tells him where to go, that could be something that would attract Regina to him. If she switches to TeamRobin instead of TeamRumple, that sets her free from the guy who has been controlling her for much of her life.
