ParticipantUh, question. Why did Rumple need the potion in the past?
Because they needed a magical plot device in the future.

ParticipantThis episode hurt. If I could summon up enough enthusiasm, I’d be flipping all the tables.
PS. *BIG HUGS JO*

ParticipantAladdin is definitely coming for 5a. ABC is not going to let the opportunity slip past with it having a big rerelease in October.
Yup, like we’ve been saying for a while now, with the Diamond Edition of Aladdin coming out in Oct, there’s no doubt they’ll keep up their pattern of having the show coincide with it. The only recent Diamond Edition they’ve skipped in the show was The Jungle Book, but they’ve nailed all the rest, right down to them giving us Cruella around the same time that Diamond Edition 101 Dalmatians came out. So seeing them setting up Aladdin stuff isn’t exactly a surprise.
And Anastasia…WHERE IS ANASTASIA!!! They’ve been skirting around the question all season long…will we ever find out what happened to Anastasia!!!!!!!!!
One of the very few tiny positives I got from this ep was that Will said he couldn’t give his heart to anyone else until it had been healed from the loss of his sister, and then Robin gave him the stuff, which felt like foreshadowing of him meeting Ana. (Of course, that brief flicker of positivity was overshadowed by how random it was that Will was in Oz at all, and how did he get there and how did he get back and obviously they just plonked him in there because they needed him to meet Robin, even though it made no sense that they’d meet there, so I wish they hadn’t done it.)

ParticipantThe whole thing with Zelena, I just had this image of the writers’ room scrambling to figure out a way to get her back on the show somehow, even if it was completely convoluted and nonsensical, and this is what they managed to cobble together, and just URGH CAN YOU NOT.
I’d rant about many things, and agree with all the things other people have ranted about, but I’m currently in a state of apathy when it comes to this show where I can’t even bother getting as ranty as it deserves. *sigh*
But I really liked Rumple’s conversation with Robin outside the hospital about Nealfire and why he can’t take Neal’s things. BUT…BUT BUT BUT…send those things to HENRY. Maybe your Grandson would like to have them?!?!?!
I appreciated that they had Rumple talking about his son in this ep. But the way they concluded it with that conversation, just smacked of them wanting a way to wrap it up so they never have to mention Neal again IMO, because even his own father now doesn’t want to remember him. It feels like the writers washing their hands of not only Neal, but also Baelfire, and that’s…a word I can’t say on this forum.
It’s just something I can’t continue to do without personally feeling awful. Sorry, for the rant. Just a bit upset about the entirety of planet Earth, right now…
Please know that there are people who aren’t PoC themselves who are also totally over how this show has been treating PoC. It’s no fun when a show that used to bring you happiness, now makes you sad.

ParticipantYa know, I’m not even dreading today’s ep, even with that bit that was in the sneak peek that’s quite rage inducing, I’m just so completely MEH about the prospect of watching this ep.

ParticipantUnless the Author was also writing their dialogue, I am a lot more reluctant to see them as all that innocent. I mean the profoundly self-absorbed litany about not being able to claim the status of heroes… And then worrying that maybe the fact that they feel bad about what they’ve done is going to be a problem and affect their kid? Meanwhile, not one thought about the impact that this might have had on Mal… while Snow herself is heavily pregnant? Seriously? I don’t even know what to do with that honestly.
Yes, THAT! Also, one part in their dialogue that really annoys me is the, “and we were brave.” I’m sorry, but in my book a person who kidnaps a child has absolutely no right to pat themselves on the back by referring to what they did as “brave” in any way. Honestly when Snow said that line it took me right out of the scene because it was so absurd. Not for the first time I’m left questioning the moral compass of the writers of this show.
Compound that with their actions in Storybrooke and that makes all of this worst. Because they STILL don’t seem that remorseful for what they did to Mal. They only seem to mourn their status as heroes in the eyes of their daughter.
They’re totes cool with BURNING A MAN ALIVE (reasonable assumption that’s what’d happen to him because they know he’s trapped in the page they’re gonna burn) just to keep covering their own butts. Like, seriously, that’s really a thing they actually thought would be acceptable to do? It’s lovely that they realised it was wrong before they went through with it, but for a while there they were totally cool with murder. And it wasn’t, “This person will kill my family if we don’t kill them first,” this was just, “If he gets out he’s gonna tell on us for being bad.”
I’m fine with “hero” characters having flaws because perfect characters are annoying and unrealistic. But the way they’ve gone about it with Snowing isn’t so much showing that they’re good people with flaws, it’s more like they’ve never really been good people and what we’ve seen of them previously has just been a facade. What they’re trying to do with the characters now just doesn’t fit, it doesn’t feel natural, it devalues how they’ve shown them previously. It’s just poor writing IMO.

ParticipantAnyway, if he’s suggesting Robin should do it for a girl, that would say it has to happen before he’s married to Marian–though perhaps after they met, given that he’s “reformed” here. That’s my guess on the timeline.
I didn’t get that Robin’s motivation was meant to be for a girl? Rumple gave him gold straw (which, shouldn’t that be gold thread, not straw?) after alluding to the tax notice on the door that would put him out of business. And with Robin mentioning Nottingham having been there scaring everyone off, I’d assume that this happens after Marian’s left him to be with Robin, probably also after they’re married, which is why Nottingham’s trying to put Robin out of business, because revenge.

ParticipantI havent seen the pics but it’s probably supposed to be the same bug and they just don’t think we will notice the differences.
No, for real, it’s very obviously a different car, there’s no way they’d have a stand in car for the Bug that looks so different.
