Participantš Part of me can’t believe it’s been a year already, and part of me can’t believe it’s only been a year. Never forget! <3

ParticipantYou couldnāt really call themĀ ābio parentsā if that were the case. True Love magic is far from biological.
The potion in that egg was made from combining a hair from each of them, it’s all but a bottle of Snowing DNA, so if it played a role in Lily’s conception, I’m gonna consider them related.

ParticipantWe need group hugs today…
All the hugs today…
I miss you Neal Cassidy. You were the heart of this show and with your death, I lost so much more than my favorite character and āship. I lost the love I had for a show that had taken over my life.
You deserved better.

ParticipantMy loveā¦I need to tell you this while it still matters.
That part to me makes it sound like the darkness is going to completely consume his heart, at which point it will no longer “matter” what he does or doesn’t feel for Belle, or anyone else. I don’t necessarily think he’s anticipating dying, I think it’s just that he’s anticipating losing the last shred of his humanity. Unless he finds a way to stop it.

ParticipantThere’s a slow reveal of aspects of a character over the course of a show that feels like an organic way of peeling back layers of who they are.
Then there’s inventing new things on the fly and trying to make them make sense with what we’ve seen of them before, but it really just feels like a hastily conceived retcon.
This feels like the latter.

ParticipantSome parts of the reveal I liked. Other parts, (as slurpeez outlined well in the post above), seemed to not really make sense.
I like that there have been multiple Authors. I like that their job was to document what happened. That feels like a shoutout to all the people in our world who have written fairy tales. That fits, it makes sense, it allowed them to sneak in a Walt Disney mention, and that’s all well and good for me.
The issue is with the non-explanation of HOW this particular Author suddenly gained the ability to go rogue. I like how Patrick Fischler has portrayed him, I like how he interacted with Snowing, setting them on a path that manipulated their story because he’s shady. But it just…doesn’t make sense how he’s able to do such things when previous Authors couldn’t and didn’t?
With any luck Henry will become the next Author, considering how his belief in the Book has been a major thing since the beginning of the show.

ParticipantI’m not getting my hopes up that they’ll even address who Lily’s bio-father is. Considering he hasn’t been at all alluded to thus far, it feels like they’re ignoring that he exists.
And if it’s never addressed, then yeah, I’m gonna lock in the headcanon that it was the TWU WUV EGG implantation that was the impetus for Maleficent laying her egg. Which essentially means that Lily’s bio parents are Snowing, and Maleficent was essentially the surrogate.

ParticipantIām just so angry about this. Nothing against Agnes Bruckner personally, but she should not in a million years have been casted in the role of Lily.
Several of us on here were pretty disgusted back when it first became apparent that they’ve whitewashed a character. Would they get a non-Asian actress to play a different aged version of Mulan? Let’s assume the answer to that is no. So why were non-Latina actresses even considered for the different aged version of a character that’s been previously cast as Latina? It’s mind boggling how thoughtless they were with this casting.

ParticipantThis ep was mostly “meh” and “urgh srsly” to me.
The only scene that really held my attention was the scene where August was telling them about the Authors. But there was even some “urgh” in that scene because I know we’ll never get an explanation as to how he found out all those things.
Also, agreed with those who wish they’d use him to his full potential in regards to Emma. I like that she insisted he was her friend, and I love the moments where August is happy to see how far she’s come. It just leaves me wanting more because there are things in their past that should really be hashed out, and the way the actors play off each other, it could make for some good television to see that all dealt with. But it’s just another example of how this show doesn’t think things like that are important, which contributes to how shallow and PLOT driven the show feels as a whole these days.
Highlight of the ep for me, because it totally made me chuckle: “The job has gone back eons,” said by a guy named Eion. š

ParticipantWell depending on how much of a swap this AU is gonna give us, Emma technically wouldnāt be alive.
Maybe, maybe not. If it’s just a matter of good and evil in people’s personalities getting flipped, Snow and David still may have been destined to meet, (maybe the darker versions of themselves have a love/hate relationship or a one night stand instead of a committed, lovey dovey relationship), therefore Emma could still exist. Dark!Snow could still employ the services of Dark!Geppeto, so Emma and Pinnochio could have grown up together.
Weāre also pretty sure Henry still exists too, as he was spotted filming solo scenes in Storybrooke wondering where everyone had gone. So like Emma, he was unaffected by the effects of this AU.
Depends how they play it out and how “real” they make the AU. Would it necessarily be a situation like the time travel, where anything that got changed in the past was automatically cemented as fact? Or will we just be shown the characters living out a “what if” that’s not actually set in stone? If it’s the latter, then they could probably still keep Henry alive in our world while everyone else gets sucked away temporarily, because loopholes.
