ParticipantI must admit when I saw Ariel rescue Hook, I had a flashback to the days where I had this weird theory that Hook was also Prince Eric. *sigh*
Exactly! Look at this gifset and ignore the context of the actual ep, and it’s like a scene straight out of a Hookriel fanfic…

ParticipantHow much power and control the Author has might lead to a reason why he was trapped behind the door. If he’s someone who actually had influence over people and could create circumstances that led them to make bad choices that led them to become villainous, then perhaps he was locked up – let’s assume by the Sorcerer – because he was leading people astray, like the proverbial “devil on your shoulder”. Basically what I’m getting at I guess is Sorcerer/God kicked Author/Lucifer out and slammed the door on him, hoping to rid everyone of his influence. So if they let him out of the Door and back into the world, they may end up wishing they hadn’t.

ParticipantI know how to access the door. One of the characters just needs to blow on the page, and the door will float off the page and form a real door. “The spells are in the book.”
Yep. That’s because it’s written in squid ink. Or something.
Squid ink which was re-introduced in the most recent ep, so yep, this sounds like a probable theory.

ParticipantYeah I’d wondered about this too. They’re just leaving us to assume that an angry teen with ALL TEH POWERZ to control the sea got up to SRS shenanigans that made her a villain. But considering that we don’t see any of that, and that really the worst thing we’ve seen her do is be used by Rumple to get the Curse, and be a backup meangirl so she can be buddies with the main meangirl…Ursula just comes across as a weak minded victim, not someone worthy of the title “Queen of Daaaaarrrrkneeesssss”. I quite liked her backstory, but as a “villain” she’s a bit of a FAIL.

ParticipantYay, August hadn’t randomly disappeared yet!
Think they said he’d have a three ep arc? So don’t get too attached, (I’m gonna be sad to have him disappear again).

ParticipantWhen a travelling peddler directs them to visit a kindly old hermit, Snow and Charming are presented with a choice that could secure their child’s goodness, but at a price that will haunt them for years to come
This actually gives me a shred of hope (*twitch*) that this Author stuff won’t end up being as nonsensical as I’d feared. If he just offers people options but the final choices and consequences (ie: the actual story) relies on the individual, that’s something I’m OK with, because it’s not some all powerful writer deciding people’s fates for them, which is what the characters seem dumb enough to believe he is.

Participantand then S5 is dark emma and here is the part many will not want, be save by hook with TLK,
Oh I wouldn’t be surprised if we get that by the end of THIS season, nevermind S5. And nevermind the fact that she had zero to say to him after he declared her to be his happy ending, and she looked miserable when he said it, nope, that was the look of TL, folks, and we’ll soon have it confirmed. And I’ll need lots of alcohol on hand when that ep comes around.

ParticipantOh hey the site’s back! I tried posting this before but the site crapped itself right after I hit submit…
i wrote here the same thing last week and shatner said it last night, lol
Great minds… 😉
Interesting that Hook gave Ursula back her happy ending and reunited Father and Daughter. He’s split up many families and could stand to do the same to two other fathers, two other sons… and a grandpa. :/
Yeah, THAT. I got all sorts of Nealfire FEELS from this ep. All sorts of sadness for the wasted potential that could have been Neal and Hook dealing with the crap in their past and struggling through to a proper reconciliation of some sort.
I saw a gifset on tumblr which I won’t post because it’s by a CSer and my comments on the scene are anti-CS, so here’s the transcript of the scene instead…
Snow – Anything from Hook? Think he’s managed to turn Ursula yet?
Charming – If she doesn’t turn him.
Emma – Really, we’re thinking that now?
Charming – Well he kinda went to a dark place this morning.
Emma – Do you blame him? If Gold did to me what he did to Hook, I’d wanna shove that dagger through his heart, too.
Snow – Emma, that’s not you, you’re not –
Emma – It’s also not Hook. Relax, I’m just saying I understand where he was coming from. So, the big deal about this storyline is that Rumple wants to turn Emma dark, right? And in this scene, it seems like the cracks are starting to show and her potential for dark thoughts are being vocalised, especially in the enthusiastic way she says “shove” when talking about stabbing Rumple to death. So her potential for darkness is starting to seep out…in a moment when she’s empathising with Hook. She’s starting to think like the guy who she keeps blindly insisting isn’t bad any more, when even the guy himself can see that he’s not an angel. Now, I’m not convinced that the writers even realise how they’re writing this stuff, so I’m not convinced that it’ll be followed through in a way that makes sense…but I’m just sayin’.

ParticipantAlso, am I missing something or is it perplexing how August managed to connect the dots and figure out all of a sudden that the Author is trapped in the book? Like, yay for story progression, but I didn’t really get how his revelation came to him?
Yeah, I didn’t really get this either.
Was just scrolling through tumblr and saw someone’s post that cleared it up for me. He knew all along about the door picture being the actual Door and that it was to get into the Book where the Author is, but he was able to truthfully answer that he didn’t know where the Door was because he didn’t know where the page was at that point in time. So, basically, semantics allowed him to be sneaky, (and it totally went over my head).
