ParticipantThe thing that stops me from totally going with the idea that they’ll actually go to Neverland, (an idea that I think would be lots of fun), is that at Paley, someone questioned them about child actors getting older, and they said they don’t have that problem with Jared because time is moving forward in SB now, so he’s free to age. That would become a problem if they sent him to Neverland.

ParticipantIt may be a bit disconcerting to see Rumple acting “smitten”. Not an emotion that seems to fit with him, really.

I think you misunderstood the mechanics of the candle. I’ve rewatched the scene a few times and I’m pretty sure the name to be whispered when holding it over someone’s heart is of the person who’ll be saved, not the heart owner’s. In this case, Rumplestiltskin’s.
BlueCora: You must hold this candle over the heart of your sacrifice, and whisper their name. And when the candle is lit, that person’s life will be traded for your mother’s.
That says to me that the heart and the name that’s said, belong to the person who is gonna die.

Regina needs to love herself. I don’t mean anything suggestive, just that she feels bitter about everything, including, I think, all of the choices she’s made in her adult life, and she needs to stop letting that rule her.
Yes, this! She’s gotta learn to love herself again, before she can honestly, genuinely love Henry, and she’s gotta accomplish that before she can embark on a romantic relationship that can be stable.
She and Hook do have a lot in common, with the way they lost their previous loves, but I think that because they both come from that same, damaged place, that wouldn’t be a basis for a healthy relationship for either of them.
No matter how Archie may help her sort out all of her crap, I still think she’d never look at him in a romantic sense.

I also would prefer a new character, especially a very interesting, famous tale one. Though I’m not sure what type…someone who is also a villain? An Anti-hero? She rejected the Genie, and didn’t fall for Leopold.
I’m trying to think of characters who might have interesting stories to twist too….
1) Merlin
2) Dracula
3) Headless Horseman
4)Van HelsingI’m kinda digging the Van Helsing idea! Regina needs someone strong willed, and someone who uses their power for the right reasons. Someone like that would help to support her in being a good person, but would also understand the mindset of where she comes from. Here’s a little blurb from the wikipedia page on Van Helsing that describes his character:
He is a seemingly arbitrary man, this is because he knows what he is talking about better than any one else. He is a philosopher and a metaphysician, and one of the most advanced scientists of his day, and he has, I believe, an absolutely open mind. This, with an iron nerve, a temper of the ice-brook, and indomitable resolution, self-command, and toleration exalted from virtues to blessings, and the kindliest and truest heart that beats, these form his equipment for the noble work that he is doing for mankind, work both in theory and practice, for his views are as wide as his all-embracing sympathy
IMO, that sounds like the kinda man Regina needs.
Off the top of my head, the other suggestion I’d have for a character who might be a good match for her would be Robin Hood. They’re similar in that they both use their skills to take from others. The difference is, Robin did it with better intentions than Regina. She thinks that the purpose of being in a position of power is to gain, gain, gain for your own purposes and to feed your own ego. He could make her see that you can still be powerful, and actually do some good with it for other people. Expecting Regina to completely relinquish her position and power is unrealistic, but she’s totally capable of a change of focus, because she did originally have a generous heart, many years ago.
I don't recall if the casting call for who we're pretty positive will be Robin Hood was for a potentially recurring role, or just a one shot deal. If he's got a history of going up against Rumple, that could be a common ground that could kickstart a camaraderie between him and Regina, which could develop into more if they plan to keep the character around long term.

ParticipantHmmm, I dunno that we can really read too much into her answer here, because the article was from before The Cricket Game, way before the time they did the Nealfire reveal, so the cast would have had to be extra coy when answering questions about Henry’s father.
I do think it will rattle Regina when Henry’s father pops up in town. Back in the pilot, Regina questions Emma about Henry’s father, and Emma says he’s a non issue. He’s sort of a BIG issue now, especially considering who he is.

ParticipantThat whole Phoenix legend connection is awesome. I remember looking up the meaning of Tamara when the casting call went out and thinking, “Palm tree? Well that’s totally random and gives no hint about the character.” So wrong. K&H are so clever. ๐

ParticipantThanks for the recap, AngieBelle! I could feel how excited you were as I was reading it. ๐ Must have been such a great energy in the room, with all of those excited Oncers watching the show together.
Sorry you didn’t get any autographs, but maybe just consider this a research mission, so you can be prepared if you get the chance to do another similar event in the future. ๐

While I do think it was awkward that he said that because he appeared to be okay by the end of last week’s episode, since only a day at most has passed since he first found out about Neal, I give him a pass for now.
I know the timing with this show is weird because things happen so quickly for the characters on the show, but we don’t really get a sense of that too often imo. Like with Regina’s attempt at redeeming herself, although it lasted a good part of this season, it actually only lasted a very short time in Storybrooke time, definitely no more than two months.
So I give him a break for now since he’s only had a short amount of time to adjust, and Neal hasn’t had any time to adjust at all to being a father figure yet either to correct him. Right now he’s more of a cool uncle type, and while I think he wants to be a father in Henry’s life, it’s hard for him to do that right away. Plus, he’s still mad at Emma for keeping Henry a secret from him. She should be mad at him, but emotions aren’t rational, so for now I cut father and son slack.
WORD to all of this! Nealfire has known the kid for all of 24 hours, so he can’t take on the father role yet and put him in his place. It’s a delicate situation, and Nealfire has to tread carefully, because as we’ve seen him say, the line of effed up parent/child relations has to end here. Henry currently dislikes his mother, but he still has his father to rely on. If Nealfire snaps at Henry and takes Emma’s side, then the kid will feel completely alienated, which wouldn’t be good for his currently fragile emotional state. Nealfire knows what it’s like to feel abandoned and alone, with no parental figure on your side. He doesn’t wanna put Henry in that situation.
It also didn’t bother me that Henry then went to cheerily ask Rumple about calling him grandpa right after his snarky comment to Emma. He’s mad at Emma, he wants her to feel on the outer, and being friendly to Rumple and Nealfire will rub salt into her wound. Obviously that’s not a nice thing to do, but he’s a kid, who just found out that his mother, who he trusted, has been lying to him about something major like his father having been dead. This isn’t just some little white lie. His father was out there, alive, and he never would have known because Emma told him he was dead. That is a major lie, and frankly I don’t blame him for putting it on par with the lies Regina told him.
I’m willing to give the kid some leeway and some time to process it all and work through and express his initial anger. Like I said, it’s only been about 24 hours. Imagine you’re an 11 year old kid, and your mother had told you that your father was dead, and then you find out she’d lied about it when you suddenly come face to face with him. I know I sure as hell wouldn’t be too happy with my mother if I were in Henry’s shoes.
I do think he’s been written a bit inconsistently at times this season, but in this particular case, I think his actions fit the situation just right.

YES! The candle does make a return! Snow uses it to kill Cora but save Rumple, that’s my prediction.
MIne too!!! I’m Seriously hoping for this and will be dying to see Snow pull out some random heart to “Save” someone and then kill off Cora. Now I want to know who that heart belongs to and who or what she has unleashed in doing it… ๐ฎ
I think it will just be Cora’s heart. We now know for sure that the candle is in play again. For the candle to work, you need to hold it over a heart and whisper the person’s name. So if Snow is attempting to kill Cora in exchange for Rumple’s life, even if she’s gotta try a few hearts, it’ll only work when she picks the right heart and says the name that matches to it. So I don’t see anyone being accidentally killed if Snow’s using the candle to take someone’s life, because it’s a very specific way to kill a specific person. And I think it will be perfection if Cora’s plan to turn Snow’s heart dark ultimately results in her own death.
Really looking forward to Regina getting a wake up call in this ep! Don’t think it’ll make her all sweet again, it’ll probably just drive her completely to despair and make her even more horrible for a while, but I can’t wait to at least have her realise that her mother is full of crap.

I hope we’re not getting a repeat of Kathyrn with Neal, Emma and Tamara. Mainly if Neal and Emma start having an affair behind Tamara’s back…
If we do get a triangle happening with this lot, I don’t really see how it could be the same as the MM/David/Kathryn one, simply because they didn’t even know who they were and were being manipulated by a curse. Nealfire and Emma are both fully aware of who they are and what they’re doing. It’s a completely different situation with a completely different dynamic, so I’m really not worried about it feeling like a rehash, even if they do go with a triangle.
