I agree,Jolly Roger!!!!And those “plot holes”are meant to be “filled in” when the writers think it would be most effective too.
Agreed. One of the things that makes a good show is when you can go back and rewatch previous eps and realise that certain things were setups and foreshadowing for a big payoff. If every little answer was filled in immediately the first time we see any given scenario, then it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun to speculate and anticipate how the pieces will all eventually fit together. Every ep would be stand alone, instead of the intricately woven, evolving story threads we get. Didn’t K&H say at Paley that they put a lot of effort into mapping out the major story arcs for this season? Everything we’ve seen is them laying the groundwork to build up to the end of season climax.

I’m pretty sure she was totally inspired by Ginnifer’s acting. I recall Bailee mentioning that she rewatched some of Ginnifer’s performance in preparation for the role.
Yes, there’s a vid floating around somewhere where Bailee is saying that on her computer she’s got a whole folder full of screenshots of Ginny’s expressions, so she could learn how to mimic them. Such dedication to the acting craft at such a young age is impressive. That girl is gonna win awards some day.

ParticipantDidn’t they say recently that we wouldn’t see the adoption this season? 😕

ParticipantI’m feeling sorry for poor old Henry. Had always wondered how he’d ended up with the likes of Cora, and now it’s clear that he was just a pawn who got trapped in her little game.

So here’s the cast from the press release. I have gone through and marked out the only ones that we haven’t seen filming since this episode (Not including the ‘Welcome to Storybrooke’ flashback). And we know it’s a major character so I’m not including the pretty much cameo cast. Needless to say, there isn’t a lot of options….
“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Meghan Ory as Red Riding Hood/Ruby, and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.
Guest starring are Barbara Hershey as Cora, Michael Raymond-James as Neal Cassidy, Rose McGowan as younger Cora, Gerry Rousseau as father, Joaquim de Almeida as King Xavier, Eva Allan as Princess Eva, Zak Santiago as Prince Henry and Sonequa Martin-Green as Tamara.
And the promo said ‘One of their own’…. I have a really bad feeling about Ruby.
Meghan may not necessarily be in this ep, even though she’s in the cast list. She’s a main cast member, so should be in the cast list in the press release for every ep, whether she makes an appearance or not, right?
Considering the press release mentioning Rumple being close to death and Snow being tempted by dark magic again, I’m sticking by my theory that she’ll use the candle to save Rumple, and kill Cora. “One of their own will perish,” could easily refer to Rumple, (now “one of their own” because he’s family) losing his Dark One curse.

Regina and Emma have a look on their faces of shock in the one picture. I’m thinking a) something happens to Henry or b) she has just realized Cora could care less about her and Emma switches into caring mode like she does with Regina constantly. And I think that would happen when Emma threatens to kill Regina and Cora tells her to go ahead cause love is weakness and Regina has served her purpose.
Oh I like that! Regina needs that reality check of having her mother toss her aside, just like she did with Hook.

at a glance, I’m going to say that whatever’s happening in this scene, it’s not romantic. it’s the look a father has when he’s giving away his daughter.
Maybe it’s the denial talking, but I agree with this. In that one pic, he’s sitting in front of her, not kneeling to propose. There’s another pic of him sitting in the chair, so my guess is that’s how he pops into the room. Then she walks over and takes his hands and they have a, “Thank you so much for making this happen,” “Oh, my pleasure, dearie, you’re gonna rock this kingdom, my little apprentice,” type exchange.
Also, that pic of Charming, Nealfire and Emma with swords at the ready is made of awesome! Not convinced that’s a wand Emma’s holding to Regina’s throat, I think it might just be the nearest pointy object she could grab to threaten her with, to hold her back from going to Cora, who appears to be spelling out (pun) all her machinations and gloating about her victory a bit prematurely.

Someone mentioned we can’t trust the promo – Snow finding a heart. I really hope they find Cora’s heart and that it’s not secretly the heart of a character we love.
Yes, I’d been thinking that the heart in the promo was probably just a misdirect, but I’m amending that slightly and now thinking that it’ll just be Cora’s heart, no one else’s, not even by mistake, and Snow will hold the candle over the box and Cora will go poof. Killing someone in this manner is foolproof, because if you don’t say the right name that matches the heart, then it won’t work.

The king says her name is Eva- so I assume this is likely Snow’s mom, although she certainly doesn’t act like the woman we met in “The Queen is Dead.” There is a prince too- Prince Henry. If he is Eva’s brother and is indeed Regina’s father…Regina and Snow are cousins!
My money is still on George being Regina’s biodad, the result of an affair after Cora marries Henry. Love that they’re giving Cora and Eva an old rivalry. Must have really aggravated Cora when Eva went on to marry another royal and continued to have everything, while Cora and Henry lost their own royal standing. It can be infuriating to see someone you think is a horrible person end up being rewarded, and it certainly sounds like Young Eva was kinda horrible to her.
They are tapping the phone listening to a conversation between Emma and Snow and discover Rumple is injured. (There is a very funny moment when Cora knocks the device off the desk and says “I don’t like what the enchanted box is saying!”)
😆
They look at the dagger and realize he is more than just injured, he is dying. His name is disappearing from the dagger.
😥
Cora says they must change their plans…she is going to stab Rumple and become the dark one.
😮 Knowing that they now plan to actually stab Rumple, I’m liking the theory even more that Snow could use the candle to save him. I mean, if he’s lying there dying, and Nealfire is there, (we know he’s part of the fight in the shop) all distraught, it fits that Snow would save him. She didn’t use it to save her parent, and she’s currently regretting her past actions, so I could easily see her using it to save Nealfire’s parent, (and Henry’s grandparent). And if Cora’s becoming the new Dark One, then killing her via candle is the ideal way to stop her and have no one else inherit the Dark One curse.
Then we are back to young Cora. She is at a costume ball in a fancy dress with a mask. She dances with the king, but he recognizes her- she has telltale straw on her. She claims that she can spin straw into gold but she won’t give him a share of it now. He announces to the whole room that if she can do this, she will marry Prince Henry. If not, she will die. And there we have the original Rumplestiltskin tale!
Eeeeeek, we’ve been waiting for so long for this! So in the Onceiverse version, it’s the miller’s daughter who offers herself up, not her father doing it for her. Guess she saw it as a ticket out of her miserable life with a drunk for a dad.
Dammit, they’re gonna try and make us feel bad for Cora in this ep. Sympathy for the devil. 👿

ParticipantThank you, AngieBelle! Did she look like this, because this is who they have listed as playing Young Eva:
