Love these pics! They make such a perfect mother/daughter pair.

For some reason, I didn’t expect Snow’s mum to be wearing red though. Guess I associate those jewel tones with the evil ladies on this show.

Maybe Cora wouldn’t need to die just yet. Perhaps, if she stabs Rumple, then she becomes The Dark One, Regina could snatch the dagger, meaning she’d control Cora, and the whole balance of power in their relationship would be totally flipped on its head. That could be fun to watch.

I wouldn’t take “killer” too seriously. It’s an old term (from many years ago 😎 ) that has the same meaning as today’s “sick”. Both basically saying totally awesome.

Oh I know, I’m just wondering if she may have used it as a sneaky little double entendre. πŸ˜‰

Plus, other than Archie, who I’ve seen as asexual for some reason,

Are crickets like stick insects where the male has his head bitten off in the process of doing the deed? If so, I wouldn’t blame him for steering clear of that nonsense. πŸ˜› *googling* OK, they don’t get their heads bitten off but…

Even more interesting, is recent research that shows male crickets displaying chivalry and sacrificing their lives to save their mates. Apparently, β€œladies first” is a cricket motto. When danger approaches, male crickets will wait for their mate to enter the burrow first. Reportedly, mated males are eaten more often than virgin males.

Archie’s wise to stay away from the ladies as a means of self preservation.

The watch Gerhard got was a pocket watch, while Whale later threw a wrist watch into the water, the later watch actually belonged to Greg (there is a scene with David earlier, in which Whale is musing about it). So it was not the same watch. Maybe the watch is not at all important besides that it reminded Whale here of what happened with his brother. Or maybe there is more to it.

The scene where Gerhardt is given the pocket watch was released as a sneak peek before the ep aired, and some of us in the spoiler section had wondered if it might have been a nod to the White Rabbit somehow. Having seen the whole ep now, and seeing that they repeated the theme of the watch with Viktor in SB, it’s made me even more curious about its significance.

Before the ep, I’d wondered if their grandfather, (the original owner of the pocket watch) had been the White Rabbit, especially if he’d been a soldier with the same white uniform that Gerhardt wore. The brothers recognised the watch as being something very valuable, so I was thinking perhaps it worked similarly to Jefferson’s hat as a portal device. When Viktor tossed that other watch into the water in SB, it reminded me of Hook tossing the bean in the water and opening the portal, and I wondered if Viktor was perhaps performing the action in memory of the old pocket watch, dreaming that it would take him away if he jumped in after it. I’ve gotta go back and rewatch the scene with Rumple and Viktor, to see if he was surprised about the ability for people to jump between worlds or not.

Know that some think Jared Gilmore’s acting is not all gold, but think when he played Cora as Henry he did some good job. There was something slightly off in his body language and movement giving away early it was Cora in disguise.

Yes, Jared’s acting is sometimes a bit off, (I can give him a pass coz he’s just a kid), but he nailed it in that scene. I loved his expression right before he transformed into Cora.

Rumple and Cora. We guessed there is some more story between those two, I always had a hunch some close relationship even – why all the horror about the kiss? Come on, not only the young and beautiful are kissing, get a grip. I was wondering, how Regina knew about true love’s kiss eventually working on Rumple / The Dark One, she suggested it to Belle – maybe just a good guess, but it sounded like she was quite sure about it. And Regina said something to Belle in that scene in the episode “Skin Deep” (1×12): “master and lover”. Now Cora called Rumple half jokingly master. That scene in the shop between Cora and Rumple was so interesting, they sure have some history. Anyone else even more curious now?

The horror over the kiss is because Rumbelle fans don’t like him kissing anyone else, and most don’t want this to be foreshadowing that he’s Regina’s father. Good catch about the repeat use of the word “master” from Skin Deep. That could potentially hint that Regina was aware of the intimate nature of Cora and Rumple’s relationship. If so, it makes me more sure that Rumple will not be revealed as being her father. If there was ever a question of paternity, I imagine it was cleared up and it was confirmed that Henry is her father.

And what a setup by Cora. Getting Rumple out of her way. Rumple, he who is toying and manipulating people now for centuries is played by his apprentice. Oh dearie.

Maybe that’s why she scares me more than any other character has, because no one should be able to get the better of Rumple, and yet she does it like a pro.

And thanks precocious Henry everybody watching the show should now know, that Frankenstein was not the one with neck bolts! Thank you!

Viktor’s line to Red about being known as the monster when he’d wanted his name to stand for life is a nod to this as well. Who knew it’d be possible to feel such sympathy for Dr Frankenstein of all people, but I totally do.

Regina, all torn about her mother. Yes, she is inconsistent, and weak and vulnerable when it comes to Cora, and even when she manages to stand up for a moment it doesn’t take long for her to cave in.

We might find out that Regina already knew about Cora and was prepared to play the expected role. Regina can see through any mirror in town, and Cora and Hook weren’t as careful about concealing themselves as they should have been. Hook’s hook might even be shiny enough to connect to the network. Also, real Henry was determined to find Regina after real Archie showed up

See a case of codependency here, as I said. Cora knows very well how to push Regina’s buttons, and she did. I don’t think that Regina knew Cora was around. She might have wondered if, but to me Regina looked genuily surprised and scared, than angry. She might not fully trust her mother, but a part of her wants to believe her. Right, in the Enchanted Forest Regina was able to see through mirrors and used them to do some magic, but think we haven’t seen that in Storybrooke so far. Magic works differently in our world, so I’m not so sure the she can use mirrors like in the Enchanted Forest.

I doubt she’d already known that Cora was in town, but I’m starting to wonder if Regina’s change of mood in the car was her formulating a plan to trap Cora somehow, with the aim of killing her.

Their world seems so similar to ours, an actual place name, the fact that Viktor used the term “earth”, the fact that they appeared to be celebrating Christmas. It’s all very curious.

The whole conversation where Charming clues Snow and Emma in about Whale bringing back Daniel. I was SO disappointed about how Charming reacted to finding out Emma has magic. This made up for it.

I’m glad we got to see Snow’s reaction to Daniel, though really, Charming should have mentioned it to her before then.

The whole breakfast scene. I love how they talk about the night’s events like it was normal. It was like a wink to the audience that their lives are so hilariously bizarre. I laughed so hard during the exchange between Emma and Snow.

Yes, I loved the whole vibe of that scene, was really well done!

Red’s sudden super speed was pretty weird, too, but you know what? I’ll allow it. Cause Red is epic, and if she wants to have super speed all of a sudden, then power to her!

Word! πŸ˜† It did take me out of the scene for a moment, but she’s a freakin’ werewolf, so it’s entirely possible she can do that, even if we’ve never seen it before.

First off, the Cora and Regina scenes annoyed me for how short they were. I knew Regina’s redemption would not last. I knew since the beginning that she would fall off the wagon. But it felt too quickly that it all happened–one minute she blames her mother for framing and admits that the case against her was arinight and all, and the next minute she cries on her mom’s shoulder. I thought that should have been given a whole episode.

Regina did seem to fall for Cora’s game rather quickly, which has me contemplating if maybe Regina’s playing her, to lead her into a trap of some description. It’d be refreshing to see Regina be the manipulatOR for a change, instead of the usual manipulatED.

I went back to feeling sorry for him when he tried to reunite with Belle–I think he might have rushed it a bit, but he was desperate to reunite with Belle.

He was no doubt hoping for a quick fix so he could go find Bae without having to worry about what was going on will Belle.

The Charmings have never been cruel to Belle. They kept their distance from Rumpelstiltskin and he did the same. Prince Charming had helped save Belle. And they helped take her to the hospital after what happened with Captain Hook.

I don’t think he’s worried about them being cruel to her, more likely it was his way of saying a) Don’t you dare poison her mind against me while I’m gone, and 2) Make sure neither Hook or Cora get anywhere near her.

Why would he have his wife/girlfriend/whatever listed as HER? Maybe “Honey” could be her real name. I think either HER is initials or her name is so obvious such as perhaps Dorothy that it would give away who Greg really is. Maybe she has him listed as HIM then you have Him and Her.

One of my friends calls her hubby “Sir” as a nickname, instead of using his actual name. She said she’s had people think it’s really weird, but it’s just a little in joke nickname thing, certainly not an indication that she considers him a higher rank than her or anything. So Greg calling his significant other “Her” doesn’t seem that weird to me, and I can see that it could just be a nickname, (which conveniently hides her identity on the show for now).

I adore this theory, but that could be because I’m desperate for some merfolk on this show already! πŸ˜‰ But considering this, plus the comment someone made earlier about him eating NO SEAFOOD…. Well, he wouldn’t if he were a merman, right? ‘Cause those would be his friends. Secondly, do we know if/where the “line” is under the sea? We saw Cora and Hook appear in a boat, and obviously Storybrooke is on the coast which begs the question if those magical creatures in the sea might be more free to move about than those on land.

I’ve been wondering about that ever since we saw Hook go underwater to get to Neverland. Does that mean that the different worlds, (including our own) are physically connected in some way, if you can travel through the ocean (or the ground as Bae did) to get from one to the other? Recent discussions on here have got me pretty much convinced that when we meet merfolk, they’ll be in the Mermaid Lagoon in Neverland, but we’ve also seen Regina mention a mermaid to Rumple, so they must be known in FTL. If one lives in a particular environment that’s conducive to portals, does that mean you have easy access to multiple worlds? I’m really eager to see how they handle merfolk on the show, though I think they’ve said recently there’s no Ariel planned for this season. They’ve certainly dropped hints though, including Grumpy mentioning Splash in this latest ep.

Interesting… why all the sea / fish pictures? I believe nothing is “by accident” on Once.

Pittsburgh Press published a paper on the Mendel / Fisher Controversy.

Just googled that and the pdf of the report is 16 pages long, so here’s the wikipedia one paragraph summary instead: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregor_Mendel#Controversy

Kay, folks. This is hitting close to home, literally– 724 is my home area code. πŸ™‚ I lived not far from New Castle, so I’m pretty familiar with the town. Nothing in particular about New Castle jumps out at me — but looking at the list on a whole, I notice they all have the Beaver & Erie Canals in common. (either by location or influence) This fits nicely with the Merman theory.

Interesting. I hadn’t looked up a map yet to compare the locations, (have driven through parts of PA a few times, but not really familiar with the layout of the place). Wikipedia has a page for the PA Canals which includes a map that shows the cities in his call list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania_Canal

Honestly, I don’t know who Greg really is, or where he really comes from. I’ll only quote what Henry said when he brought his story book to the table.

“Frankenstein isn’t in here. It’s not even a fairy tale. That means it comes from another land with different stories. If the curse went to places with other stories, then who knows who else is in this town?”

Yes, the inclusion of that scene in this ep in particular is what makes me certain that Greg is from another storybook world that we’re yet to see.

True, there are ways they can trick the eye, but I think they’d just have to go with it and let the kid grow. In a year or two, Jared’s gonna be even taller, and unless they’ve started ageing him now, it’d be ridiculous if the kid has shot up to being half as tall as Charming by then, and they’re still trying to pass him off as a 10 or 11 year old. Easier to try and match up his show age as closely as possible to his actual age.

I’d wondered a while back if Hook would stab Rumple, but with magic being different here, the Dark One Curse wouldn’t transfer and it’d cease to be, and Rumple would live, of course. There is simply no way they would kill off Rumple, he’s far too valuable to the show. I can totally see them scaring everyone into it happening by having him stabbed though. But he’ll be saved, most likely by Belle, though I’d hoped they’d have them being estranged for more than just a couple of eps.

Just yesterday I was wondering if Cora might die in this ep, like they killed off Graham in the ep where they told his back story. Now that we know the dagger is in play, I’m wondering about it even more. Maybe Cora will stab Rumple, and then Regina will stab Cora? I’ve read some speculation that Regina is just playing Cora for some reason, and now that I’m thinking about it…

Perhaps Regina knew she couldn’t beat Cora as things stood, there was simply no way. But The Dark One can be killed, so if Regina played Cora and Rumple off each other to set this scenario up, she could get rid of her mother. Of course, this would mean Regina becoming The Dark One…which could actually be kind of awesome, because it’d show the SBers that she was willing to make a huge personal sacrifice to save them all from Cora, but it wouldn’t instantly completely redeem her.

I know this is kind of off-topic, but am I the only one who thinks Jared grew, like a foot, between seasons/episodes? He just looked much taller last night.

You’re not the only one to have noticed. Jared definitely is sprouting up. He no longer looks like a little kid. In real life, he’ll be a teenager next year!

Methinks this is why they had that throwaway line of Emma calling him an 11 year old a couple of eps ago. Would have been nice to have seen his first birthday with Emma, but I guess they forgot about that and then were all, “Holy growth spurt, Batman! We need to start officially ageing this character.” πŸ˜‰
