I tend to agree. It seems like the minute Rumple finds out hook is in town he immedietly will be on guard, protecting Belle, and probably looking to kill or detain Hook. Once Hook encroaches on Rumple’s world, I see him having a limited window of opportunity to act. *Maybe* Rumple would size him up when he first showed up, instead of attacking him immedietly, but honestly the latter seems pretty likely knowing Rumple.

Old Rumple would have just attacked. SB Rumple indirectly attacked Regina using the wraith, right after Belle had asked him not to go after her, and we saw how well that went. Belle’s not a fan of violent and/or magical revenge plots, and Rumple would know that if he goes that route again with Hook, it’d just serve to push Belle further away. So he’ll really have no choice but to keep his cool, no matter how badly he wants to unleash some hardcore fury on Hook.

Rumple could try to calmly warn Belle about Hook. But if Hook keeps his cool and is charming enough, he may be able to convince her that Rumple is overreacting. Which would just serve to infuriate Rumple even more, pushing him towards breaking point. If Rumple tells Belle, “He stole my wife,” Belle would hardly think that grounds for killing him, and wouldn’t accept it if Rumple wanted to attack him for that. Then Belle could go ask Hook about it in an effort to find out as much about the situation as possible, and he could very well counter with, “Guess he left out the part where he then killed her right in front of me, huh?”

Can’t wait to see what direction they go with this. Hook has major potential to mess things up between Rumbelle, and as much as I love Rumbelle, I also love that Rumple is having to work for it to live up to Belle’s expectations.

The title “The Cricket Game” makes me think either someone evil is playing games by using Archie or that Archie has gone rogue and is playing mind games since he’s a shrink.

They did hint a while back that someone we thought was trustworthy might surprise us, didn’t they? If you can’t trust the conscience, who can you trust? If he does get himself in the middle of some scheme where he’s manipulating people’s minds, I’d guess that he starts out with good intentions, to try and make people see things from an alternate point of view, and it goes wrong.

I read in a recent interview with Adam and Eddy that they’re probably going to leave off doing Wizard of Oz until maybe even S3, so I don’t think Ethan Embry will play Wizard of Oz, thought it’s interesting to consider.

Sounds like a good plan to me. With everything that’s going on right now, adding Oz as well would be overload. When Oz happens, it should be in a context where it’s the focus, which wouldn’t happen if they went there right now.

My comment up thread about Barrett being a real world person who Neal hires to go investigate SB was just some random thing that popped into my head at the time, but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I like the idea. Didn’t Jane Espenson tweet someone recently, “You think he’s going to SB?” in response to a tweet about Neal. We’d all figured he’d go, because obviously he’s been waiting for the curse to be broken. But really, the more sensible option for him would be to send someone in there first to suss out what’s what and who’s who, rather than Neal just charging into town completely unprepared.

We really don’t know what Hook does or doesn’t know yet. He’s had about 250 years to research a way to get revenge on Rumple though, and I believe he had to have had contact with other lands during that time – certainly Wonderland if he knows Cora, and he could have maybe still had some sort of information connection to FTL too – because Rumple wasn’t from Neverland, so Hook would need information from outside Neverland to come up with a workable plan. If it’s the case that he could still get info from FTL, it’s entirely possible that he knew that Rumple had a girl, though he wouldn’t know the current state of their relationship in SB.

The basic fact of how to kill the Dark One is to stab him with the dagger. So if Hook’s plan is to kill Rumple, perhaps he’s planning to stab him with the dagger. Perhaps he hopes that he’d then inherit the Dark One power, and would then be able to turn the tables on Rumple by pulling out his true love’s heart right in front of him.

But we don’t know that the dagger works the same in SB. It obviously has SOME power, because Rumple was able to summon the wraith, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’d transfer the power in the same way if it was used to kill Rumple. I think that if Hook does try that, that something will happen that will result in the Dark One curse being destroyed, so no one will have that power any more, and in trying to destroy Rumple, Hook would inadvertently save his soul.

I’ll be very surprised if Hook doesn’t try to charm Belle. He knows that’d drive Rumple completely crazy, so it’d be far too much fun to resist.

No, i love all of Belle clothes, except the green blouse and the plaid skirt in child of the moon.

Yeah that combo wasn’t good but that’s the only time a costume has made my eyes hurt. Apart from the jellyfish dresses the fairies wear of course, but they’re on their own whole level of horrid, so I can’t talk about them in relation to anything any other character wears.

Neal: And if I can’t be there for her, man, you got to promise me that you will be.

    August: I promise.

    11 years later:

August: I was supposed to be there for you. And I wasn’t.

When August has that conversation with Emma, I do believe he ultimately is remorseful for his previous actions up to and including taking that money and not being there for Emma as he promised. But, to get to that point, he had to have made mistakes. You can’t just discount them because there’s always a “what if” out there. There is more ‘evidence’ of him messing up than him working for some third party. It’s a cop-out for his character and you miss a lot of his growth if you don’t acknowledge his mess ups in the past. IMO.

Agreed, the guy makes mistakes, that’s who he is…

August: I’m not perfect. This world? Full of temptations. Turns out I’m not that great at saying no. I’m not built that way.

I do think that his actions that broke up Neal and Emma were orders from Blue, so she’s guided some of his actions, but by and large, the bad stuff he’s done, comes down to him making wrong choices. And I certainly agree that he shows remorse now. We’ve all been there, making wrong choices in life, sometimes making the same wrong choices over and over, no matter how wrong we know it is, and then hating ourselves for it after the fact, because we know we should have known better. That’s the basic human shortcoming that makes that puppet boy so real, and it’s why I really feel for him and want him to make good for his past mistakes.

Nice choice of words. Can’t keep them straight indeed. 😆

I also thought of croquet and wonderland. But I dont know much about the difference between cricket and croquet, so who knows!

They’re COMPLETELY different games. To compare them to better known sports, I guess croquet could be likened to golf and cricket could be likened to baseball.

There was an article at some point during the hiatus where it was mentioned that K&H had been in contact with Eion regarding August’s role for season 2. Even if they have him acting with dubious intentions, that’s not dumping all over the character. It’s keeping in character, because Pinocchio isn’t supposed to be a well behaved, trustworthy boy all the time. Having him act questionably makes me like him more, I’m intrigued to find out all the details of his story, and I’m drawn into his angst. I look forward to seeing how he attempts to redeem himself for his mistakes, and reunite with his father.

Or just to flip this theory on its head somewhat, perhaps he’s someone that Neal(Bae?) hires to go investigate the state of things with his father, instead of just heading to town himself.

Hang on, what’s stopping Barrett from being Victor’s brother?

Unless Victor has two brothers, it’s not possible, because there was an article naming Gerhart/Chad Michael Collins as being Victor’s brother, and a separate article that mentioned Ethan Embry’s character as Barrett, (though I think the article called him Bennett?).
