ParticipantMulan and Aurora may be iconic characters, but in the context of the show so far, they’re not exactly vital to advancing the overall plot. So if they get left behind in FTL and Snow and Emma go back to SB, it wouldn’t really be necessary for them to figure out a way to open a portal one more time to try and go back for them, especially if it’s dangerous to do. By the sound of it, communicating between SB and FTL won’t be an easy task if it’s gonna potentially put Charming’s life in danger to try. Would they really risk that AGAIN to try and communicate with a left behind Mulan and Aurora, who no one else in town apart from Snow and Emma even knows? Doubtful IMO.
The most effective way to keep Mulan and Aurora involved, (and I’m assuming K&H introduced those two characters in particular because they plan to keep them around and flesh them out more in the future), is to have them stick with Snow and Emma, whichever world they’re in. If they get left behind, they become irrelevant, and have been a complete waste.

ParticipantSpeaking from a purely superficial standpoint, staches ain’t my style. All over stubble: yes. Stache: no. Stache + goatee: urgh. (My ex once grew a stache and goatee purely to annoy me, which made me like the look even less). So when MRJ was first cast and I googled him, uh, well. 😆 He’s got a KILLER smile though. One of those smiles that makes the eyes crinkle.
So as long as he keeps the facial hair under control and smiles now and then, we’re cool. 😉Seriously though, I’m looking forward to seeing him in action. Never seen him in anything before, so this will be my first MRJ experience. It’s good to know he’s one of those actors who takes his craft seriously, especially considering he’ll be playing such a vital role on Once, someone who we’ve all been anticipating seeing, so we’ve got high expectations. From what I’ve heard about him, it seems they cast this role well.

ParticipantJust before, I was posting in a thread about Mulan, where people are discussing whether or not she’s working for Cora because something feels a bit off about the character. I was pondering how she and Lancelot could be a good fit together if it turns out he’s alive, and it led me to thinking how both of them could be affected if this impostors storyline proved true…
I wonder, if Cora leaves FTL to go and impersonate Snow in SB, would that mean that any spells she’d cast in FTL became void, because her power wasn’t there any more to sustain them?
RumplesGirl had suggested in the Mulan thread that if she is a spy for Cora, maybe it’s because she has her heart, meaning she’s controlling her. If Cora is indeed controlling her, would Cora leaving FTL release Mulan from her clutches, meaning we could start to see other sides of the character emerge, which would help to flesh her out more?
Also, if Cora leaves FTL, would that free up Lancelot from her clutches too? Perhaps she had him trapped somewhere, but with her gone, he’d be able to escape. That could be a way to work him back into the story, if he’s finally able to go running around FTL, and happens to find Snow and Co.

I completely agree with the boring paladin of good criticism! Mulan is one of my favorite princesses and she is so dull on this show. Flat one-liners, no sense of interiority, a few sage remarks. Bleh. Her character had better start becoming more dymanic, or I will be sad.
Someone suggested recently that perhaps she and Lancelot were a potential couple, (assuming he’s alive and will be coming back). The more I think about that possibility, the more I hope it ends up happening, coz having a lil bit of Lance in her life would loosen her up a bit. He’s got similar qualities to her, both of them being noble warriors and whatnot, but he’s also got some wild abandon romantic passion stuff going on, (not just any guy says, “to hell with it” and risks it all to have an affair with his king’s wife), which would benefit Mulan if she was opened up to it.
Going back to the idea of Cora potentially controlling Mulan against her will, (which I could deal with much better than if she was consciously being villainous), if that was the case, that’d be something she and Lancelot could come together and bond over, considering Cora stole his identity.
Mulan feels very isolated from the other characters at the moment. Even though she and Aurora have had the same amount of air time, Aurora has an emotional attachment to Phillip, a history with Maleficent, and has interacted with Snow on an emotional level by lashing out at her. Mulan hasn’t connected with anyone like that yet. The only character we’ve seen who she has any emotional history with is Lancelot, given that I’m sure they were friends before Cora took him over. So if she’s gonna start connecting emotionally with people in the future, I’d think he’d be where she’d start. For her sake, I’m really hoping he’s still alive.

ParticipantThat’s cool that she replied to your tweet, Mellie! 😀 One of the things I love about Twitter is how it’s closed the communication gap between fans and celebs.

Hey, trust me when I say, I don’t care for Blue. Bit of an attitude. However, the problem with this theory is that K&H have made it very clear that she is the good guy. They’ve stated that in several interviews and in one of their recent podcastsm where they describe what her personal curse was. That is, a nun who wants to help everyone but is powerless to do so without her magic. They haven’t been vague or ambiguous about what she represents or her motives. They’ve clearly said she’s the good guy. That’s why I love paying attention to their interviews, podcasts & twitters. Much information to be gained from what they say.
“Good” can be a subjective term though. Just because she’s one of the “good” guys, and on the “right” side, that doesn’t mean she’s never used questionable means to get that “right” outcome accomplished. If she did orchestrate and manipulate all of this, she did it with the best of intentions, believing that the eventual happy ending would justify her devious means.

ParticipantHave been pondering how this ep description could relate to the ep title. Maybe the “deep” is referencing some sort of hypnosis like state that Charming will have to go under? Something so intense that it could potentially leave him permanently unconscious, like he was for those 28 years he spent in the hospital. Perhaps?

ParticipantThat’s an interesting idea about her having already been pregnant when they met. I could see that if she’d just been through a messy breakup with a guy, she could be lashing out by doing things like stealing cars, maybe because she wanted to get out of town fast and couldn’t afford a bus ticket. Depending on how quickly the events progress, if she just broke up with someone right before getting together with Neal, she could have doubts about which one is the father when she discovers she’s pregnant. I’m guessing the SwanFire shippers would hate that idea, but if Neal is Bae, it would be carrying on that theme of raising a question as to biological paternity, which was implied regarding Bae and Rumple. And if Emma had doubts about who the biodad was, but Neal/Bae still insisted on raising the kid like his own no matter what, that’d be like what Rumple did with him.

I love the new twists on the old stories. “the truth is a little more gruesome”. 😀
That line makes me think of the start of Cinderella in Roald Dahl’s “Revolting Rhymes”, (a book I used to be able to recite from cover to cover as a kid). “I bet you think you know this story. You don’t, the real one’s much more gory. The phoney one, the one you know, was cooked up years and years ago, and made to sound all soft and sappy, just to keep the children happy.” (Spoiler: in that version, the prince chops off people’s heads, so Cinderella decides she doesn’t wanna marry him after all.) 😆

Am i the only one who thinks this might be a giant (no pun intended) shout-out to Pirates of the Caribbean? Having an actual pirate on the trip, looking for it up JACK’s beanstalk?
Yeah, that’s why I’m half expecting that when we see this compass, it’ll look exactly like Captain Jack Sparrow’s, (no reason they couldn’t use the same design, coz it’s all owned by Disney). This whole chunk of the storyline is feeling like a PotC shoutout.

Leopold never really seemed to care about Regina, as long as there’s she’s there at night to keep him warm I don’t think he cared about what she got upto.
Doubt he was even concerned with her being there to keep him warm at night. From ep11:
I am not a fool – I realize that the Queen is unhappy and yearns for someone to love her in a way that I never can. And yet, I never imagined that she would betray me like this.
I’m thinking they had separate bedrooms from day one, so she could easily sneak out of the castle for nightly magic lessons with Rumple, and Leopold wouldn’t have a clue.
