After Hat Trick, I got it into my head that the Hatter’s neverending tea party was going to be to make up for the tea party he postponed with Grace. And that when Alice shows up, he’ll treat her as though she’s Grace, and then Alice will try to help him get back to his daughter. I’d just never thought of any logistics as to how that could potentially happen until this new theory popped into my head.

The way they worded that spoiler almost makes it sound like she’ll be in more than one ep, but who knows if that’s the case, or if they were just being vague so as to not give away which ep she’ll be in. It’d be cool if she’s in more than one though, giving her some more significance.

Agreed. Emma’s got enough drama going on already. I hope they hold off on any sort of romantic entanglement for her until the 2nd half of the season at the earliest.
Plus, at least on paper, I think that Quinn and Red might have more things in common because if we finally get to see what happened to Red immediately after the events of Red Handed, she probably was shunned because of her magic in a similar, albeit not totally the same way that it sounds like Quinn has been shunned by other people. Also, I would assume that Peter was Red’s true love, but maybe he wasn’t. Or maybe they’ll show this season that even if someone doesn’t have true love, it doesn’t mean that they can’t love someone else, since Snow may have loved Lancelot or not, and Rumple could have loved his first wife.
If this Quinn character becomes recurring, (for all we know he may be a one shot), and he is the wizard who gave Red the cloak, I could certainly see them pairing the two of them up in SB.
Here’s the tweet that confirms Jarod Joseph (who plays Billy) is set to return to OUaT. In case you’re wondering, Anthony Hemingway is set to direct the episode.
Whenever I see the name Billy for this character, I think of the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. It makes me fear that Red’s gonna try to eat him some day soon. Stay away from bridges during the full moon, just in case, Billy!

I could see Morgana being a mentor to Merlin at first, and then him choosing to defy her once he realized what lengths she was willing to go to in order to protect those like herself. Given her description I would not be surprized if those like herself would include Regina.
I really like this idea, and that’s an interesting point that Regina could have been involved somehow too. Hmmm.

Well, legend says that Merlin was born of a mortal woman who was impregnated by an incubus, so that right there contradicts the casting call, but I figure they can make up any history they want for him. Given that we’re already getting Lancelot and presumably Lady of the Lake, it’d fit if they want to use some more Arthurian characters a few eps later. That’s one of the reasons I’d thought that Dr Whale may be Merlin, because they were introducing Arthurian legend early on in the season, and I figured the Dr Whale reveal would have to come early in the season too.
I keep thinking that the symbol on that medallion looks Asian, but that’s just because I know we’re getting Mulan, and she also has a gold medallion. Quick searches bring up no Chinese symbols that resemble it.
I also keep thinking it looks kind of like a bird.
And now I’m also thinking how much the middle bit looks like this “protection” rune:

Wonderland maths kinda makes my head hurt, but I did just have a thought. I’ve wondered if Jefferson somehow made his way back to FTL before the curse hit, which is why he’s in SB, but had never had any ideas as to how that might happen. But if the Onceiverse method whereby Alice and the White Rabbit come into Wonderland has the same rule as the hat – same number that go in must come out – perhaps Jefferson could be Alice’s +1 when she leaves?

Is that so! YAY for a Red ep! 😀 In that case, I’d think that this Quinn character will almost certainly be the wizard who gave Granny the cloak.
Maybe they can also help Emma, since it seems like she might come back either at the end of episode 5 or in episode 6, with her new found magic. Also, I wonder if Quinn/Merlin is going to be Emma’s love interest/fling this season. I think it’s too early to have Emma start thinking about Bae, even though I think it’s endgame. So I think we’ll see that there’s definitely something still unresolved between them when the first meet again, but she also feels something for Quinn/Merlin while he’s mentoring her.
I think it would make a neat contrast between Quinn/Merlin who wouldn’t think that all magic was bad, and Bae who probably feels the opposite after everything that’s happened to him in his life.

I’m guessing Anita is Morgana then. Although I don’t like the idea at all, I guess they could do a possible love rectangle between Quinn/Anita/Emma/Bae.
They’ve got her age at 45 – 50 though, and from the character descriptions, I figured maybe Anita will be a mother figure to Quinn after his family casts him out.
The theory of Dr Whale being Merlin may just have vanished in a puff of smoke. Bugger, I really liked that theory. 😆

When I saw “counsel” in the name meaning, I thought of Merlin, considering he was a chief advisor to King Arthur.
The name Anita originates as a Spanish and Finnish version of “Ana” meaning “gracious,” “mercy” or “full of grace.”
Given that they’re about to shoot a big Emma ep, would it be safe to assume that the whole thing will be set in our world? They can hardly do FTL flashbacks for her. Though we don’t know where Emma is at this point in the season, I suppose, and with the speculation about her and Snow having gone somewhere, I guess they could potentially still be wherever, and maybe this will be the ep where they come back to SB. Trying to think how the Giant would fit in with either of those scenarios if Jorge will in fact be in this ep. Could he be in real world flashbacks from Emma’s past? Or could he be wherever Emma and Snow are currently, if they’re not back in our world yet? Or maybe he won’t have any interaction with Emma at all, and instead will have scenes with Jack.
And with MRJ also in this one, does that confirm that he’s our Jack? I’d had Jack pegged as Bae and MRJ pegged as Henry’s father, not necessarily being sold on the theory of Bae being Henry’s dad, but now I’m starting to wonder.
It’s ridiculous how a tweet from a cast member’s girlfriend can send my mind racing. 😆 I need the new eps to start airing so I can focus on some actual facts instead of crazy speculation for a change. 😛
