Agreed, I’m really excited to see Henry bonding with his bio family! 😀 Will be a big change for him after his only family being Regina for his whole life. She leaves much to be desired in the loving family stakes. Thank God for the Charmings.

Also, I know this has already been said, but I doubt he is evil just from how stunned he looked when he remembered everything. And if he were loyal to Regina, he would have followed after her. Though he could have worked for her and just not be loyal. 😆 But something in the way he looked and held himself, he looked just as lost as everyone. And if were truly evil, why would Regina make him forget? He would have been more useful remembering.

When I thought he was one of the bad guys, (which was my opinion of him for the whole first season), I never thought he was a big bad. I likened him to Sidney, the DA, and poor sweet Graham…people who Regina had in her pocket back in FTL, so she kept them close for the same purposes in Storybrooke. None of them remembered who they were, but they were bound to do her bidding.

I think Dr Whale’s apparent anguish when the curse broke is a hint that he wasn’t always a minion of Regina’s though. I think he was having an, “OMG, I’ve been working for that evil WITCH?! That completely betrays the person I truly am!” kind of moment.

If she wasn’t keeping him close in Storybrooke because he’d previously been her minion, her other motivation may have been because he was a rival of hers in FTL. One of those “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” type of situations. I think this could lend credence to the Merlin theory, because someone of Merlin’s stature likely would have been in direct opposition to Regina, and he’d have had powers to match hers and fight back if necessary. Of course she’d want to keep someone like that under her control in Storybrooke.

I’m guessing Dr. Whale is the powerful wizard who gave Granny the enchanted cloak for Red so she wouldn’t phase into a wolf. The main reason is that Dr. Whale is linked to Ruby in SB, so it seems like they’re linked in FTL. Also, a doctor can treat ailments with medicine in our world like a wizard could with magic in FTL.

What slurpeez said. 😀 Only thing I’d add is that the specific wizard would be Merlin.

If you want to discuss other theories people have had, in case no one else sends this one in, (it’s not my theory, but is one of the more interesting ones I’ve seen), there’s also been some discussion about him possibly being Gulliver. There’s a bit on wikipedia about the character having had a history of studying medicine: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemuel_Gulliver This theory also accounts for the name Whale as a reference to how he would have appeared to be a beached whale to the people of Lilliput when he washed ashore there.

Whoever he is, I doubt they can put off the reveal for much longer, now that everyone will be walking around Storybrooke remembering who they are. Will people still be using their Storybrooke names, or their real names? I can’t really see Charming calling Snow by the name Mary Margaret, (and by the same token, I assume this will be how we’ll find out Charming’s real first name, when someone uses it instead of calling him David), and if real names are being used, it would be out of place for him to still be referred to as Dr Whale. Even if people do still use their Storybrooke names, their actions and allegiances will be influenced by their true identities, so either way, they can’t really show him much without revealing some major hints as to who he is, so I don’t think we’ll have to wait too long to find out.

I’m now super psyched to see Lancelot! Sounds like they might have some big plans for him. 😀

The writers are planning on expanding Baelfire and Morraine’s backstory. I never even factored Morraine into the equation. Maybe she and Bae are each other’s true love. And it also makes the “Peter Pan and Wendy” theory sound more and more plausible.

There’s a name I hadn’t expected to see again! Wouldn’t think that there’d be a reason to go back and show more of Bae’s childhood, so the only way to have them connect again is if he found a way back. And that would potentially have shades of Peter Pan and Wendy.

Unless we’re just gonna see Bae and Morraine as infants (or toddlers), if Milha does turn out to be Bae’s mother, and they go back to tell that story?

I think we may actually get a shocker out of this storyline. Until a few weeks ago, I was positive that Bae was Henry’s father. Butnow, I’m not so sure. At the moment, I’m stuck between Peter Pan and Jack. Hmmm…

Pretty much every time I almost convince myself 100% of a theory, some new bit of info pops up that makes me question it again. 😆

We’re probably all so off base that it’s funny.

With all the speculating I’ve done about this show, I’ve gotten approx one thing right. 😆 Coming up with crackpot theories is a fun way to pass the time though.

😆 You’re nothing if not dedicated to the cause. Love your work. 😉

I think they’re on episode 3 now unless they film things out of order again,

Just to show that I’m not above a bit of stalking myself, Colin O’Donoghue (Hook) tweeted on the 6th that he was headed home the next day and a friend tweeted him about catching up in Dublin. So they’re not shooting eps 3 and 4 out of order, coz Hook’s flown off to the wrong country for the time being.

PS. How stinking cute is this pic?! http://t.co/nuLPzZDl

Anyway, Michael heading to SB in time to film ep 3 has certainly thrown me for a loop. Wasn’t necessarily expecting him to be showing up quite so soon, no matter who he is. Hmmmm, guess if he could potentially be there for eps 3 AND 4, the ep where we know we’ll meet Hook, the Peter Pan theory could still fit. Doubt they’d give Rumple his son back this early in the season, that’s something he should have to search for and work for, so I think I’m ruling out him being Bae. Perhaps. Maybe. For now.

Copying and pasting my thoughts on this from a post in another thread…

Have come to the conclusion that there are only 2 characters whose names would give away too much if revealed in a casting spoiler: Baelfire (coz obviously everyone’s waiting for him to be announced) and Peter (coz they’ve made no secret that Hook is coming, so it’s reasonable to assume that Peter Pan will be too). I know we’re waiting for a Jack to be cast as well, but that wouldn’t be something they’d feel the need to keep top secret, I wouldn’t think, despite the fact that Jack could potentially be Bae, but revealing a casting for Jack wouldn’t confirm or deny that theory.

Anyway, despite the fact that Bae is the casting that all the fans are anticipating the most, I reckon the reveal of him as Peter would be even bigger, because Peter Pan didn’t age, so if the OUAT version of him looks like this guy, that could give away something huge about how they’re planning on tweaking that story. Add it to the fact that his casting announcement came at the same time as the casting for Hook, and I’m almost willing to put money on the fact that he’s gonna be a grown up Peter Pan.

Also, the more I look at pics of him, the more I reckon he looks like he could be Henry’s father. Though I confess that I may be viewing his pics with a biased eye, because of my theory that Peter Pan stayed in our world and aged and hooked up with Emma.

Why can’t he be Peter, Bae and of course Henry’s father? What if he went to Neverland first and then somehow got sucked into our world.

Peter Pan wouldn’t have to get sucked into our world by nefarious means. He could fly between Neverland and our world, so I think he just stayed here one day, possibly to escape the wrath of Hook.

Bae, Peter and Henry’s father being the same person is also a theory I’ve had in mind, because I was never convinced that Bae definitely came to our world when he went through the beanhole. The more I think about it though, the more I like the idea that Bae and Henry’s father are two different people, with Bae being Emma’s true love.

I also wonder if the magic beans are a one-time use thing. Or like Jefferson’s hat can be used again and again. Maybe there is someone out there collecting beans for a specific purpose.

Interesting thought. Hmmm…it could be risky to send people off with a re-usable bean, because who knows where they’d go and what they’d do with it. Would BF have entrusted such a thing to a child, (and his father who’s known to be powerhungry)? Though going back to the idea of Bae being Peter Pan, maybe the Onceiverse Peter didn’t fly between worlds, maybe he travelled via magical, re-usable bean instead? Or maybe if there’s a physical beanstalk, a fresh crop of magical beans can grow on it?

The Aussie site I found it listed on had a release date of Oct 17. I’ll be getting it from the US though, not only because I’ll get it sooner, but it should also work out cheaper, even including international shipping, if the price on that site ($55) is gonna be the RRP once it’s available here.
