The only reason I take issue with Pinocchio’s hair and eye(?) color changing is that when Mr Gold figured out that August wasn’t Bae, August taunted him a little bit saying, “Do I even look like him?”. That sort of indicates that The adult should bear some resemblance to the child. That’s my only beef.
That line actually made me chuckle because I automatically took it as a shoutout to this exact debate amongst the fans. 😉 We know that the powers that be read forums, and August’s appearance had been much debated when people were trying to prove or disprove who he is. So I took that line as a snarky little, “Yep, we see whatchu all argue about,” from the writers. LOL

So, why couldn’t the casting director do the same with Pinocchio?
I wonder if the casting process is a bit different when you’re casting the adult version of a child you already have. Eion wouldn’t have been cast until way after Jakob was, because when they cast Jakob for the pilot, they didn’t even know for sure if the show would get the go ahead.
When it did come to casting for August, they couldn’t merely go on looks, they needed an adult actor who could deliver the character as they wanted him to be, and acting styles vary. Maybe there was someone else who auditioned for the part who looked more like Jakob, but he just wasn’t right for the role, we don’t know. Though I think that despite the hair/eye colour, the actors do actually look very similar.
I think it was freakish good luck when they scored Bailee to play young Snow. Not only did she look like a MiniGinny, but the kid was a brilliant actor who obviously studied Ginny’s mannerisms and was able to incorporate them into her performance, which made the resemblance eerie. That situation is kind of an exceptional case of lucky casting IMO, so I don’t really expect them to hit the jackpot like that again.

ParticipantAnother thought that just came to me. How did August know the book existed? We know he knows Mother Superior. So after he came to town, did he go search for whoever Blue Fairy was, because he figured she was his best bet to tell him what he had to do? And did she tell him about the book, and to go edit it?

After watching “The Return” and “The Stranger”, I’m thinking Mother Superior/Blue Fairy wrote the book.
The theme and message of the book is “Hope.” The blue fairy was desperate when she spoke to Gepetto about Snow’s child being the savior. The Blue Fairy was the only FTL character to have witnessed most of the stories in the book – an important point. She works in the school so she could have easily placed the book. The blue fairy mentioned she “had to make preparations with the other fairies” before the curse reached them in the castle. Could she have created the book from magic?
I really like this idea! There may be a glitch or two though, when you consider what was left out of the book.
The original author had left out Pinocchio’s story. SOME part of it was in there, because it had the bit about the making of the wardrobe, which he was there for. What motivation would BF have for leaving the rest of his story out?
And if as many suspect, Rumple’s full story isn’t in there either, what motivation would she have for leaving HIM out? Surely a tool for the saviour to use should include information about one of the big bad guys in the story? That’s why up until now, I’d figured Mr Gold wrote it, but now this BF idea has me wondering. Hmmmm.

what if Regina poisons Henry on purpose to make Emma leave????
The summary that slurpeez posted said, “Henry gets caught in the crossfire as Regina tries to rid herself of Emma permanently.” Which suggests to me that the applewhatever is most definitely intended for Emma.

ParticipantThe jacket does seem to be dark like the one he wore in Storybrooke, as opposed to the brown one from FTL. If it’s the same jacket, then this must come AFTER he returns to Storybrooke, (assuming he actually left), because he didn’t have that jacket when he fell out the window.
Wherever he is in that scene though, he’s likely at the beginning of a journey through the hat, not the end of one. I know we haven’t seen how one comes back through it, but it looks in that half second shot as though he’s preparing to jump into it.
So does Regina have him in her clutches in Storybrooke somehow, and they also somehow have Emma’s hat (which was in her car the last time we saw it), and Regina commands him to go get a poisoned apple for her from another world?
Guess it would make sense if Jefferson is somehow in contact with Regina if he’s possibly the much loved guest star who has a scene with StorybrookeBelle in the finale.

ParticipantI dunno that he’d eat it knowing it was poisoned just to prove a point, (killing off a kid is one thing, but effectively having him commit suicide?). I think it’d be more like someone gives it to Emma, (not Regina obviously, but maybe Dr Whale or something, is he credited for this ep?), but she’s not in the mood for eating treats, (she’s looking pretty down in that scene), so Henry’s all, “Ooo, apple turnover!” and Emma’s all, “You can have it,” so he takes a bite.

ParticipantI download a torrent of each ep several hours after it’s aired in America and watch it as soon as I get the chance. Though I watched “The Stranger” live with the east coast because I looked up a site that had a live stream of ABC coz I’d been dying to see that ep, (still downloaded it later as well though for a re-watch).
Thank God for the internet or I’d still be waiting to see the show because Aussie TV programmers are so freaking slack.

ParticipantWell in the Once version, Flotsam/Jetsam don’t necessarily have to have exactly the same story/role. I’m thinking if Regina turns herself into Ursula, she’d also turn one of her guards into a sea creature as well, so she could have someone she trusted to go under the sea and help her.
I never bought into the Dr Whale = Monstro theory.

ParticipantCrazy would be if I made a list of all the famous men whose hearts I’d lock up in magic boxes in my vault. But I’m not crazy enough to do that, (though if I was, Jamie Dornan would likely be on the list, poor dude is doomed). 😉

Dorothy, I agree. In fact, we don’t even know if he came to our world.
All we know is that Rumple thinks he came to our world, but no, we don’t have confirmation of that fact, so I’m not convinced that’s where he ended up.
I think that if Rumple had gone through with him, chances are they’d have landed here, or at least in a world without magic, because that was the purpose of them going through the vortex, to be somewhere that Rumple’s power would be null and void.
But when Bae went through alone, who’s to say that the vortex didn’t send him somewhere else entirely, like Neverland, because now that he’d lost his father, he’d become a Lost Boy.
