Completely agree with this. Which leads me to think that Rumple acquired that special love makin’ bow and arrow from a guy named Cupid, (they’ve already used Midas, so we know that figures from ancient mythologies are fair game in this Fairytale-verse). Wonder if in a future ep we’ll see poor Cupid get vaporised like the poor Fairy Godmother was. 😯

Count me in the group who doesn’t believe that Rumple can see the future. He lives to manipulate people into doing what he wants, cheeky bugger that he is. So he decides what he wants to happen, tells someone it’s gonna happen, then sets about making it happen. The result is he ends up looking like he predicted the future, which makes him appear more powerful than he really is, so folks are a bit more scared of him, which is always fun.

Whatever his end game with this curse is, he’s been planning it at least since Snow and Charming came to his attention, possibly even before. He just needed the perfect loved up couple to come along for his plan to work. He manipulated them into situations where he could get the hairs from them both, so he could bottle love, so he could build it (ie: Emma) into the curse as the antidote.

I suspect his reason for creating the curse may have something to do with him trying to put an end to all magic. After Belle, maybe he realised that being The Dark One isn’t really all its cracked up to be. He doesn’t want the dark power any more, he doesn’t deserve it, it doesn’t make him happy because he rejected his chance at happiness because of being power hungry, and now his one chance at love and redemption is dead. He sure as hell doesn’t want anyone else to have his power either though, so manipulating someone into killing him like Zoso did to him isn’t the solution. He just wants his dark magic gone.

And we know he’s not a fan of that sickly sweet fairy magic, and if he strips himself of the dark magic, he can’t have the fairies and their good magic still going strong, (or anyone else with dark powers, like Regina, swooping in to claim his throne as the most powerful being ever, that wouldn’t do AT ALL), therefore ALL magic will have to go.

So what’s a good way to rid the world of magic? Firstly, you’ve gotta remove everyone from the magical realm. Then, once everyone’s mortal, make the final curse fail and hey presto, no more magic.

And as the icing on the cake, if he manipulates dear old Regina into being the one to enact the curse, he can eventually crush her in the process, and won’t that be fun for his final trick ever. Set her up so she thinks she’s high and mighty, then her ultimate fall and his ultimate victory will be all the sweeter. He’ll be able to rub it in her face for the rest of her mere mortal life. *insert creepy Rumple giggle*

He’ll hafta be patient because this is a LONG con, it won’t pay off for about 30 years, but he’ll get what he wants in the end, so the wait will totally be worth it.

That’s the theory I’m currently subscribing to anyway. Might completely change my mind by the end of the season. 😉
