ParticipantI liked this too, but I still don’t get why her shoe was left there.
I’m just assuming she left it there for him to find? Because earlier he’d told her about how “her story” is supposed to go, and that she leaves the shoe and that’s how her Prince finds her, and she laughed it off as being silly. So when she went to wait for him, and then someone came to abduct her or whatever, she remembered what he’d said and dropped the shoe as a “sign” for him to find when he got there.

ParticipantThe swan keychain.
A stolen car.
A dream of a quiet little home on an island, (islands have a beach association).
A fake story about his family dying in a fire.On the one hand, I appreciate that they’re including such blatant callbacks to the love story of Henry’s parents, because it means that they haven’t actually forgotten what their story had originally been all those years ago.
On the other hand, I wanna scream because if they did still remember it all, and think that it mattered this much, then why did they throw it in the trash the first time?!?!?!?
I have to wonder if they reason they were SO heavy handed, to point of “OMG OK WE GET IT” about setting up all the indisputable signs that Henry and Cinderella are TL is because they don’t want fandom to get any ideas about an alternative and have history repeat itself.

ParticipantI’m fine with Henry wanting to go off and find his own story because he wasn’t in any of the others. The way they wrote the dialogue to set up that theme for the new season was clunky as all getout, but the theme in and of itself works as a reboot setup IMO.
I’m liking Andrew’s performance so far, he’s a convincing AdultHenry. All the Author and Believer stuff that they did with Henry had me kind of apathetic because the show had gotten so nonsensical that I just couldn’t really care too much about anyone’s specific part in the whole mess. But seeing AdultHenry being a failed author, who no longer believes, I’m actually feeling for him now, and am looking forward to his journey back to being himself again.
Also, I really enjoy seeing him dressed up like his Grandpa Charming and sword fighting. Bless!
I’m torn between rolling my eyes at how much of a rehash the Henry/Lucy dynamic is of the Emma/Henry dynamic, while also appreciating the nostalgia of it.
Henry and Cinderella’s FTL meetcute was fun enough, but I didn’t feel the chemistry really. I did sense some chemistry between them in present day though, so I dunno how that works and why I felt that the two dynamics felt so different from a romantic chemistry viewpoint, but that’s just how it struck me.
I did like the bit with him finding the shoe as a “sign” (“sign” is so gonna be new “cleave”) that he had to stay and look for her. And the flowers blooming when she threw the coin that she found as a “sign” into the well. Even if it was done in a heavy handed way, they certainly have set up the two of them as being the destined TL couple.

ParticipantI had a thought that maybe it was really Lady Tremaine who killed Cinderella’s father and she just told Cindy that it was the prince to keep Cindy from getting her happy ending and then she kills him before he can reveal the truth. That would explain a lot.
Agreed. I dunno if it was just really bad acting, but that Prince didn’t seem like the murdery type. So once Cinderella had confronted him like that, Tremaine had to off him before he said anything else and Cinderella eventually figured out the truth. Assuming that this Prince did turn down Drizella at some point, but his younger brother was interested in her instead, then of course Tremaine needs the older brother to die so that Drizella can have a shot at being Queen instead of just wife to the second in line to the throne. So she sets up Cinderella with the fake story about her father’s death, in the hope that she’ll kill him and it’ll save Tremaine from getting her own hands dirty, and Cinderella will end up in jail as a bonus.
The time I found Tremaine to be most convincingly evil in the whole ep (and she tried to be evil A LOT) was when she casually referred to murdering someone as a “chore” that Cinderella hadn’t finished as per usual.
* Side note because I already mentioned Drizella and her potentially marrying a Prince. They had a couple shots of her “OH MY” face when Henry was sword fighting. I predict she develops quite a crush, and because he’s in love with Cinderella instead, Drizella casts the Curse to tear them apart.

ParticipantOh Alice is totally a RumBelle kid. She looks far too much like EdR, and Belle would absolutely name a daughter after Alice in Wonderland. And she’s working for Rumple in the flashbacks, and also has a relationship with him in present day. Totally their kid.
Rumple magically kept tabs on Henry when he was in “A New Realm” (*sigh*) and sent his daughter to do whatever she’s doing there with Henry because reasons.
If Rumple still has his memories as Weaver (which seams likely) then that can be explained because Dark One immunity. Maybe Alice inherited some Dark One genes from him, which offered her immunity to memory loss too. If she inherited magic from him, I can see them having always had a close relationship, which they’ve already established them having in just a couple of scenes in this first ep.
Rumple’s alternate persona being a cop who breaks rules to torture people seems to fit him pretty well.
Alice is great so far, she’s enigmatic and spunky, and I look forward to seeing more of her.

ParticipantWhoever added the filter needs to be fired. And the photographer needs a talking to as well because the composition of a bunch of those shots is just awkward.
Henry dressed like his Grandpa Charming gives me warm fuzzies and I love it.
Regina looks fabulous in that red thing.
All the princess dresses are pretty, but the costume I’m actually all about is Alice’s. Just from the tidbits we’ve gotten of her so far, I feel like she’s gonna end up being my new fave.

ParticipantAll the spoiler pics of Robert Carlyle and Rose Reynolds certainly make me that Alice is Rumple and Belle’s daughter.
Surely she’s gotta be. I mean, she looks far too much like EDR for it to be a coincidence, right? And all the shooting with Bobby. And I could absolutely believe that Belle would name a daughter after Alice in Wonderland. She named Gideon after a character from a book, and Alice with her adventuring to other lands must make that story one of Belle’s faves.
So she names her baby girl Alice, and when she’s little she reads her the Wonderland books, and that inspires her to go off and find Wonderland herself at some point. As someone who really enjoyed the Wonderland spinoff, I was quite miffed at the thought of them replacing that Alice with a new one. But if Belle named her kid after Alice, and that’s how we’ve ended up with an Alice 2.0, then I’d be cool with it.

ParticipantYeaaaaah. I’m placing quite a few cookies on Alice being Rumple and Belle’s daughter.
Actually did a double take of that pic where she’s standing on the roof because she looks SO much like Emilie in that shot.

ParticipantAnd a guy dressed as….a cheeseburger? Well okay.
And the woman walking beside cheeseburger man is totally cosplaying as Emma Swan.

ParticipantProbably has a double meaning. It’ll be Tiana centric, but whatever it is she’s informing the police on, (was it decided that that’s prob what the scene on the park bench with Officer Rogers was about?), the crime will involve a large amount of dollars.
