ParticipantI didn’t get the impression that Rumple had a hidden agenda there. In fact, he basically told Ingrid that she doesn’t really need him because she has true love through her sisters and that’s better than any magic. And then he gave her his trademark warning about magic and its price.
He did seem to be intrigued by her powers, though. Perhaps he just didn’t want such a “rare gift” to be destroyed?
He can recognise a desperate soul and so he knew that Ingrid wasn’t gonna buy that the love of her sisters was enough. If she thought that, they wouldn’t have even been there in the first place. He played on her fear and desperation to get something valuable in the ribbons, and hoarder of magic that he is I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he had his eye on adding Ingrid’s unique powers to his collection as well.

ParticipantIsn’t Anna putting her in the urn a thing that Ingrid would want Elsa to remember happening though, so why would her memory of the event have been taken away if Anna did it?
I think Ingrid tried to get Anna to do it, expecting that it’d be easy judging by her own experience with her own sister. Then when she couldn’t get Anna to do it, Ingrid did it herself and took away Elsa’s memory of it happening so that she could tell her Anna did it at a later date and still end up destroying the sisters’ relationship that way even though her Plan A didn’t work.

ParticipantMaybe all this reveal about DQ will get into more of Emma’s past–and might be a thread that could lead to a story about how August knew things he shouldn’t have known and why he felt Emma had to be all alone to break the curse. Maybe that was DQ’s influence there–she and August both needed the curse broken, but she also needed EMMA to be broken so Emma would become her pawn. She just didn’t tell August that. Thing is, I ‘m not crazy about having such big plot holes being filled by a story they weren’t always contemplating doing –though perhaps they knew there was someone who pulled August’s (the puppet!) strings, but left it open to decide later who and why. PP could have worked with the Home Office stuff, but this is another good chance for them–but I predict they’ll not explain any of it yet again.
Oh bugger you for getting my hopes up because now this is a thing I want to see happen, and as you say, it probably won’t, (also, agreed that big plot points like that really shouldn’t be made up on the fly). *SIGH* It’d make a lot of sense, because if Ingrid could track down Emma she could probably track down August too. And if she had a falling out with Emma, she’d want someone to keep an eye on her and wouldn’t be able to do it herself. If she knew about all the Saviour stuff, she’d have wanted to make sure Emma stayed on the right path to that place where she’d come into her powers, so she wouldn’t want her running off to play happy families with Neal instead.

ParticipantWhether or not what Robin is doing is considered adultery depending on his marital status, at the end of the day Robin is still cheating on Marian. Is a man cheating on his girlfriend any less worse just because she’s not his wife?
THIS! Frankly, it doesn’t really matter IMO if they are or aren’t married, (though Marian has been referred to as his wife constantly, so it’s safe to say they’re married). If two people are in a relationship that’s understood to be exclusive and monogamous, and then one of them goes hooking up with someone else while the other one isn’t aware, that’s cheating and it’s wrong.
It’s not fair to Regina to just be dropped and picked back up by Robin every time he feels like it.
It’s also not fair on Regina for Robin to be all, “screw my code, being good doesn’t matter, I’m just gonna do what I wanna do, consequences be damned.” Isn’t that the negative impulse that Regina’s been fighting against to try and make herself a better person? Isn’t that the struggle she’s had, seeing that doing the right thing gets you nowhere so may as well just fall back into bad habits? Isn’t that a thing she was REALLY trying to overcome in this particular situation when she insisted that she and Robin couldn’t be together because Marian’s life needed to be saved? Hadn’t she started to make some actual progress as a person so that even some non-Regina fans were starting to give her props for how she behaving in this situation? And then Robin came storming in and undid that and dragged her back down to doing the wrong thing despite her best efforts to the contrary.

ParticipantI could see that. The fact that the book changed to include Emma and Hook’s trip to the past suggests that it just documents what’s happened, and people’s memories of what’s happened could explain that. And changing memories has definitely been a theme this season.
If they want to go the direction of someone specific having control over the creation of the book, my bet is Blue, because it is after all a book of FAIRYtales.
I was gonna suggest that she cast a spell so that everyone in the EF’s memories was put into the book, and August had to add his story later because he’d already gone through the wardrobe by then. But Geppetto was still there, and he knew that story. You could maybe fanwank that memories of just one side of the story wasn’t enough to get it transferred to the book. But Alice was in the book as seen in the Pilot and she wasn’t anywhere near the EF. Though I guess you could fanwank that it’s the Pilot so we can’t hold it to gospel truth.

ParticipantWhat was his angle? Why turn her into the icy equivalent of Rogue by giving her those gloves, when he could have just taken her powers for good?
He probably didn’t want to eradicate her powers, he wanted them contained in that urn so he could be in possession of that magic one day because it was something he’d never seen before. He probably anticipated that she wouldn’t wear the gloves 24/7, so it was just a matter of time before she did something bad and got urned. Of course, we know he didn’t get the urn back after Ingrid was stuck in it, so I guess if that was his plan he hit a speedbump.

ParticipantIf that’s the case, and Rumple has simply grown world-weary, then maybe this entire arc could be salvaged.
Agreed. I still won’t like the way he went about it, but at least there’d be a more layered and sacrificial motivation to why he’s doing it. Why he can’t just say to Belle, “There’s a way I can be rid of the Dark One curse, so we wouldn’t have to be burdened by the Dagger, so the world could be rid of this dark magic, so I could be mortal,” I dunno. That’s probably a thing she’d be all for helping with, and she’d probably help him find a way to do it without having to sacrifice anyone in the process. This whole thing could be used as a way to strengthen their relationship, instead of undermining it.

ParticipantBut that is just my feelsy headcanon, I’m sure to be wiped away by totally preposterous actual canon airing in about six days…
It’ll be so nice if one day, when we have the full story, we’ll be able to look back on these things knowing they WERE more than just feelsy headcanon. I just can’t bring myself to have faith in it all at the moment though.

ParticipantRegarding Snow, I can give her a pass for not wanting to hand the baby to the person whose hands were moments ago making a liquid boil, but I still don’t like the manner in which she expressed concern. Pulling the baby away like that was rather a harsh action. They could have conveyed the same thought by having Snow question with genuine concern if Emma’s hands were OK. Concern for Emma, concern for Snowflake, a mother showing concern for both her kids with an undertone of sadness that this is even an issue. Instead it came across like, “DON’T YOU TOUCH MY BABY WITH YOUR DEMON HANDS.”
And the way she scolded Emma after the lamp post incident was WAY harsh and accusatory, like she was an insolent 4 year old who had deliberately done something really bad and was about to be sent to their room. Like, Snow honey, you do realise that your daughter is legit upset right now and you’re not helping?
If it turns out they’re having Snow behave this way because of the whole half-a-heart thing, then it will make more sense, but as of right now, it just seems wrong.
About the Will retcon, it’s not even just the fact that he’d apparently been around long enough to hear the story 3 dozen times, he also recalled a conversation he’d had with Marian. “It wasn’t easy for her y’know, livin’ like an outlaw. I asked her once how she gave up everythin’ to be with you, do y’know what she told me?” That implies that Will was with them all, including Marian, for enough time to get to know their way of life, get to know who they were, and felt comfortable enough to engage in personal conversations. What we saw in WL is he was with just the men (no Marian) at camp for a few days so he could use them to break into Maleficent’s place.
If the writers expect me to be able to invest in their story, I need to be able to believe that they know what story they’re telling and are committed to being consistent with it, and a lot of the time lately I just don’t get that feeling.

ParticipantRumple taking out the Blue Fairy would make the most sense as far as his acquisition of magic goes, seeing how the Blue Fairy has been called “the original power” and all.
Maybe her powers were involved with the making of the hat, so her powers are necessary for Rumple to get ultimate control over it?
Also, I’m having a really hard time buying that Rumple’s goal is world domination.
He didn’t actually confirm that she was right, so I’m not convinced she was.
