There was so much more to Neal’s character than the CaptainSwanFire love triangle. A&E could’ve had SwanFire go their separate ways amiably then had Neal’s character focus on rebuilding a relationship with Rumple whilst also developing a strong relationship with Henry. Focussing on the Baelfire side of Neal’s character rather than the Neal side of Baelfire’s character would’ve enabled CS to happen like A&E wanted without having to sacrifice Nealfire to make it happen.

Will the fact that Emma (Jennifer Morrison) became the Dark One out of heroism not murder have an effect on what she’s become?
    Edward Kitsis:
    Sort of.

I think they should have how the dark one affects its host consistent. Maybe have some take longer to succumb to the darkness than others, but Emma shouldn’t suddenly be able to overcome it. Rumple became the dark one with heroic intentions (to save Bae and the other children from the ogre war) but it corrupted him, it should do the same to Emma. The how isn’t important but the why. Though the writers have hinted at this debate in season 1 with Rumple’s “intent is meaningless” vs Regina’s “intent is everything”.

Will Henry (Jared Gilmore) and Regina (Lana Parrilla) have an official operation name for saving Emma?
    Kitsis:
    They should!
    Adam Horowitz: Can’t say.

They will. Probably name it Operation Phoenix since Henry likes comics and Emma sounds like she may be doing a Dark Phoenix.

Will Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) cross any lines to get Emma back?
    Horowitz:
    Yes.

Seems like Snowing get dragged through the mud more and more every season. A&E won’t be happy until they’re mugging grannies on street corners.

Might Regina be tempted by Emma’s dark side?
    Kitsis:
I think we’re always tempted. It’s always more fun to hang out with someone who is willing to get into trouble than the person that won’t.

I disagree, it all depends on the type of person you are. That answer is the definition of peer pressure.

Will Emma have the powers of the seer as well and be able to see the future?
    Horowitz:
She’s going to be exploring exactly what her powers are.

I don’t think she should have seer powers as Rumple got that separately. The seer powers weren’t part of the dark one package.

Does Gold’s (Robert Carlyle) white heart mean loss of memory and a personality reboot?
    Horowitz:
    Can’t say.

I hope not. That’s a bit of a cop out when it would be much richer storytelling having Rumple deal with what he’s done as the dark one now that he no longer is the dark one. At the most, he should revert back to spinner Rumple who then has to come to terms with what he’s done as the dark one. He should not have a brand new personality and he shouldn’t be season 1 Emma 2.0.

    Will Rumple still have magic?
    Kitsis:
    Can’t say.

I think Rumple should still have his seer powers as those were separate from being the Dark one, but I would like to see him have to cope without magic, though he does have the knowledge so that could go either way , but there has to be a trade off. Rumple was reluctant to stop being the dark one because he feared losing the magic but if he could’ve had the magic anyway, that makes his struggle null and void so I think he shouldn’t have the same level of magic now that he is no longer the dark one.

Given the circumstances with Emma, will Henry regret breaking the Author’s quill?
    Kitsis:
    Absolutely.

I don’t think the quill should be used as a fix-all clause. Henry made the right choice. Whilst he should perhaps doubt it, it shouldn’t be a case of “you could’ve fixed this mess if you hadn’t broken that damn quill. It’s all your fault Henry!”

Will Henry get a love interest?
    Kitsis:
I hope so, but he’s an awkward, young child. Like all 13-year-old boys, they have to navigate their way through the minefield of first dating.

This I wouldn’t mind seeing. I don’t think it should be with Gretel though. She’s two years older than Henry. What teenage girl would want to date a boy younger than her? She can see movies Henry can’t. Grace would be an option or even make Henry interested in boys. Give him a storyline that doesn’t involve being in danger.

Will we see more of Henry being the Author?
    Kitsis:
    Yes.

I hope they don’t make Henry fix the quill so he can magically solve the Emma problem.

Will Zelena’s (Rebecca Mader) baby be born this season?
    Kitsis:
    Yes.

I’d like Zelena’s baby to be a girl called Ivy. Because Ivy is green, it grows in a forest, links to both Zelena and Robin. Also if it’s a horrible child, Roland can nickname it “Poison Ivy”

Can the effects of the infertility potion that Regina took be undone?
    Horowitz:
I don’t see why not. There’s always hope.

I really hope they don’t reverse the infertility potion Regina took. Not only does it imply that Regina needed to be “fixed” to achieve a happy ending but also, Regina (impulsively) made her bed, now she should lie in it. Decisions have consequences both good and bad. Why can’t A&E show Regina finding fulfilment through adopting children such as Henry, Roland, Greenbean, etc, instead of bio-children make you a complete mother?

Will Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) turn back to the dark side now that he has no reason to stay good?
    Kitsis:
I think he has a great reason to stay good and that is to save the woman that he loves. I hope he holds on.

I would be disappointed if we don’t at least see Emma try and tempt Hook back to the bad side and Hook being tempted. It’ll be interesting to see Hook being good because he wants to be instead of using Emma as his reward system. Hook’s attitude towards Rumple had better improve this season. He doesn’t have to like him, but he shouldn’t go out of his way to antagonise him like he tried with the blackmail last season then cried foul when it didn’t work out like he planned.

Will the Jolly Roger be used in any significant way this season?
    Kitsis:
    I can’t imagine it won’t be.
Horowitz: How could it not be? You’ve got to use the Roger!

I sense a voyage to Camelot afoot.

Since we have a new Dark One, is there a new Savior this season?
    Kitsis:
    Sure is.
    Horowitz: That’s a great question.

Either they’re going to make Rumple the new season 1 Emma, having the two swap roles, or they’re going to put Regina in that role because they are currently treating Regina as if she is the best thing since sliced bread.

Will there be another dance scene this season?
    Kitsis:
    Yes.

It’s probably going to be OQ. As others have said, they’ve not had a dance scene yet.

Is Lily’s (Agnes Bruckner) father a character we’d recognize?
    Horowitz:
    Can’t say.

My money is on Arthur. The Pendragon name is too perfect to pass up.

Will we meet Merlin in the season premiere?
    Kitsis:
    No.

Good. I hope we don’t get any Camelot stuff in the first episode but I won’t hold my breath.

Any chance of incorporating the evil witch Morgana Le Fay?
    Horowitz
    : Can’t say.

What’s the odds she is Rumple’s mom?

Will we see more of August (Eion Bailey) this season?
    Horowitz:
    We hope so.

    I hope so.

Are there any other returning faces this season?
Horowitz: We sure hope so. There’s plenty of characters we want to bring back and see again. It’s a little early to tell you who they all are, but we certainly have a whole slew of favorites over these four seasons.

I think one of them may be Mulan, especially as she had links to “Lancelot”.

Will Emma have a split personality issue with being the savior and the new Dark One?
    Kitsis:
    Yes.

She is so Once’s Dark Phoenix.

Is Emma the new big bad or can we expect another villain?
    Kitts’s:
You never know what’ll happen in Storybrooke

I’d prefer Emma to be the big bad of 5A then have a new villain for 5B rather than shoehorning too much into 5A.

Here is a very rough Dark Swan manip using that second dress. (Literally it’s a cut and paste of JMo’s face on to the model’s body since I only have paint on my computer so it’s nothing fancy and the lighting doesn’t match.)

Rumple’s dark one outfit was designed to fit in with the Enchanted Forest, and when he was the dark one in Storybrooke he wore a suit, so I can understand that they want Emma’s dark one outfit to have a modern feel to it. However, the outfit she’s in could be so much better than it is. The simplest way to make an “evil” look yet keep it “Emma” would be to take her red jacket combo and make that black or a black leather duster, leather trousers, black boots and maybe a red top to add a bit of colour? At the very least Emma’s dark one outfit should be “sexy” because this show has played with the “evil is sexy” trope before particularly with Regina’s EQ dresses. Emma’s hair should be wild and untamed not in a severe bun.

Just typed feather dress on google to see if there was a more “dark swan” dress and these two seem dark swan like.

I like how we can see some of Granny’s Diner menu and what dishes are actually on offer and how much.

I know in American money you have dollars (which can also be called bucks), cents, dimes and quarters but where do they fit in on the value scale? Dollars seem like the highest value so how many cents in a dollar? Where do dimes and quarters come in?

There were things A&E were intending to do in previous seasons that they never did.

No to Regina being the Savior. I am amongst those who still feels her redemption came about too quick.

I agree. I don’t mind Regina not being evil but she shouldn’t be a 100% hero. Regina is the one who does the things the other heroes can’t do. She shouldn’t be golden girl.

Not a fan of that jacket though, (apart from the collar, which is kinda cool). It looks cheap, like a relic from the 80s they found at an op-shop. Maybe it’s just because Rumple’s costume was so lush and decadent and textured, that this one is so plain and underwhelming to me by comparison? They shoulda made it out of leather textured to look like feathers (Crocodile had scales, Dark Swan should have plumage). Given it a few pops of dark red highlights, maybe. Something to bring it to life and add some variation to the overall look so it’s not just flat black and more flat black and more flat black.

I agree. That outfit does not scream “Dark Emma” to me. It says “quick Emma is meant to be evil, lets just dress her in what ever black items we can find!”

I mean, I think her hair should be down, and more wild and unruly. She look a bit too pale, i would have preferred she’d had green-gold skin. I mean…. I like it. It could be a tad bit better but i like it.

I agree about the hair, it should be more wild not all prim and proper, it’s severe rather than evil. I don’t think her skin should be green-gold as I think the DO curse affects each host differently, plus Rumple was never green-gold in Storybrooke when he was the dark one. I’m not keen on that outfit for Emma, I would prefer her in something like this

but obviously in black and more plumage-y

I mean you say that like the writers couldn’t easily get around that with a wave of their hand. Suddenly Camelot is frozen in time and Arthur never ages but sent his young sons Killian and Liam off to live in a land with time! (see, problem solved)

If Camelot is frozen in time then that completely screws with the Neverland arc as Pan wouldn’t have needed the heart of the truest believer because he could’ve just moved to Camelot and stayed young there without the threat of dying like he was in Neverland.
