Tamara: So someone was a massive jerk in Hong Kong.
Tamara: Hmmm?
August: There’s no need to be so hard on yourself, Tamara.
Tamara: I was talking about you, tree brain!
August: Well that’s not very nice! Get out my caravan!
Tamara: Actually, I think I’ll sit down.
August: Oh? Okay.
August: Do you want a cup of tea?
Tamara: No.
August: Coffee?
Tamara: No.
August: Any other hot beverage of your choosing?
Tamara: I don’t want a drink so stop asking me!
August: I’m just trying to be a good host.
Tamara: My boyfriend will laugh when I tell him about a giant puppet offering me hot beverages.
August: I doubt it. I kind of stole money off Neal and spent it all, he’s gonna want a word with me.
Tamara: Oh I wasn’t talking about Neal.
August: What?
Tamara: Whoops, I’ve said too much. I’d better be going now.
August: You’re cheating on Neal? That’s terrible!
Tamara: You are in no position to judge Mr “I stole money from a cancer patient”.
August: So says Miss “I pretended to be a cancer patient”.
Tamara: Just leave town, alright?

Speaking of which, we can’t forget Geppetto / Marco!I forgot about Geppetto. He would definitely be near the top of the list, if not probably the top.

Participant5. Ruth- Ruth lost points for giving up one of her twin boys at birth to save the farm.
Hmmm… but did she know James would be raised by royalty? I mean im not a parent, but I think I could sleep easier at night knowing that the child would be raised by someone who could definetly give it the life I couldn’t rather than…ya know… not knowing whether or not Rump would eat it >_> its one thing to just hand the baby over, but its more understandable if she knew where it was going because, again, shes handing over to the Dark One. For all she knew he could have wanted to eat it or use its organs for a potion. I think she did what she could. If she didn’t she’s hve had to raise two children while being homeless. But idk. Im not a mother.
I don’t think she did know where the baby would go. Ruth said Charming’s father ended up in an early grave because of the guilt he felt. If they were aware the baby was going to royalty, why would they have felt guilt?

ParticipantParent ranking from Best to Worst
1. Neal/Baelfire- Ever since Neal found out he was a father, he did his absolute best to be there for Henry and never let him down. He wanted to avoid the same mistakes Rumple made and even allowed himself to fall through a portal and travel to Neverland to save Henry.
2. Charming- Charming is protective of Emma but also knows that she is an adult capable of making her own decisions. He is supportive of her but never tried to force the parent thing on her unlike Snow. He let Emma come to him. The only reason Charming isn’t top is that he sometimes gives in to Snow’s demands which can sideline Emma such as when he was helping Emma look for the WW and Snow summoned him to meet Zelena.
3. Emma- Emma loves Henry and does her best to set a good example for him. In season 1, she showed him that good could win without the aid of trickery and was even willing to let Regina “win” in their fight over Henry and leave Storybrooke as it wasn’t in Henry’s interest to have both his moms going at each other’s throats. In season 2, she fought to get back from Storybrooke from the EF and travelled to Neverland to help save Henry. She forged a friendship with Regina so that Henry wouldn’t be forced to choose between the two. Emma loses a few points because in 4A she seemed to care more about spending time with Hook rather than with her son.
4. George- He actually cared about James and was heartbroken when his son died. Although George isn’t a good guy, he was a good father.
5. Ruth- Ruth lost points for giving up one of her twin boys at birth to save the farm. However, she raised Charming well and even gave her life so that her son could have the family he’d always dreamed of.
6. Eva- She taught Snow to respect the lower classes rather than just being a royal brat. Snow saw her mother as a role model of kindness hence why she was so devastated at finding out what her mother used to be like. Eva lost points for being the root cause of Snow’s problems. If she hadn’t shown such disrespect for Cora, Cora wouldn’t have decided to seek revenge on Eva and Snow thus setting Snow up to take the blame for Daniel’s death.
7.Robin Hood- Robin is a decent father, he loves his son and would do all he can to protect him. However, Robin loses points for allowing Roland to be used as bait for the shadow and also for being so gung ho for Regina when he’d only known her as the Evil Queen. He loses further points for willingly pursuing a relationship with the murderer of Roland’s mom but regains a couple only for the fact that Regina has redeemed herself and Marian was okay with him and Regina being together. On the parenting front, Robin is good. On the husband/partner front there is considerable room for improvement.
8.Regina- Regina loves Henry and raised him well and would do anything for him. She loses points for gaslighting him in season 1 and doing her best to kill off his family tree in season 2. She regains points for Neverland but loses some with the whole OQ plot especially when she rejected Henry because Robin initially chose Marian.
9.Rumple- Rumple loves Bae dearly and would do anything to protect him but loses points for taking it too far and doing dark things in front of his son. He is constantly sliding back and forth on the redemption road and needs to learn to do the right thing on its own merits rather than how well it will reward him. He gains points for sacrificing himself to ensure his son’s happiness but loses some for his actions in 4A which Neal would not approve of. Rumple also raised Baelfire well before the whole Dark One business started.
10.Snow- Snow lost a lot of points when she told Emma in the echo caves that the relationship they had was not what she wanted and that’s why she wants another baby. She loses further points with her reactions to Emma during Emma’s struggle with her powers and for trying to push Emma too much with the parent thing when Emma clearly wanted her to back off. Snow regains points for the level of devotion and care she shows baby Neal however, at times it can verge on the possessive, over-protective and smothering kind.
11.Henry Sr- It could be argued that Henry Sr was as equally a victim of Cora’s abuse as Regina was, however at the same time, it was his duty as a parent to protect his daughter. He did stand by Regina until his death and did try to encourage her not to seek the path of revenge but find happiness elsewhere.
12.Leopold- Leopold isn’t the worst parent we’ve seen on the show but dragging his daughter around in the search for a new wife isn’t the best thing to do. He cares for Snow and loves her but wasn’t there for her during Eva’s funeral. It’s not clear whether Snow actually wanted a new mother or if she was just going along with Leopold’s plan to keep him happy.
13.Milah- Milah lost a lot of points for just walking out on Baelfire and Rumple without so much as a goodbye. She allowed Rumple to believe she was going to be raped by a bunch of pirates which forced him into telling Bae his mother was dead. Hook claims that they were going to come back for Bae when he was older which leads to the question of whether she expected to be able to just swoop in and take Bae away from the loving father who raised him.
14.Xavier (Henry Sr’s dad)- When he tells Cora who said she doesn’t love his son that there “wasn’t much there to love”, you know there is a problem. He didn’t care that Cora had a gentleman caller in Rumple so long as Cora kept the kingdom in pocket with gold. He was happy to sell Henry Sr off to the highest bidder.
15.Pan/Malcolm- Pan admitted he hated Rumple since his birth and tried to offload him onto the spinsters. It’s questionable how far Rumple ranked up on the hate/like scale for Malcolm as Malcolm seemed happy to have Rumple with him potentially forever in Neverland but was happy to abandon him to become young again. Malcolm also at least tried to get Rumple into a good home instead of just leaving him on the streets. Pan’s plan never really involved Rumple and he tried many times to get his son to leave Neverland.
16.Cora- I’ve ranked Cora below Pan because, whilst Pan wanted nothing to do with Rumple, Cora was the exact opposite when it came to Regina so much so she was trying to control Regina which is worse than abandonment. She forced Regina to obey and inevitably passed on her “love is weakness” outlook to Regina who has only now started to overcome the effects of Cora’s abuse.
17.Archie’s Parents- When their own son who is normally kind and mild-mannered sought out the Dark One for a way to get rid of his parents because he was so unhappy, there is a massive problem with that relationship.

ParticipantFavourite Emma Moment– Emma putting Henry in his place in A Curious Thing. I like this moment because, even though I could probably come up with other Emma scenes I like more in the long run, this scene was long overdue. This should’ve been a season 2 scene when Henry was being an absolute brat. I didn’t like how the adults caved to Henry in season 2 when he demanded to know what was going on, so when he tried to do the same thing here, I really enjoyed how Emma told him that no, he doesn’t get to know what’s going on. Because at the end of the day Henry is still a kid and there is stuff going on that actually isn’t his business. If he was older then it would makes sense for him to be privy to certain stuff, but at 11/12 years of age, he should not be demanding to be let in on the adults’ business.
Favourite Neal Moment– Neal punches Felix and escapes in Nasty Habits. I like this scene because it shows Neal’s ingenuity. Neal could’ve escaped at any time, but instead he lulled Felix into a false sense of security and found out why Pan wanted Henry just by playing along and letting Felix talk.
Least Favourite Emma Moment– Emma questioning Rumple’s trustability in Heroes and Villains. Whilst she does turn out to be justified, at the same time we’ve had 3 seasons of Rumple helping the Charmings out, he sacrificed himself to save Henry, Emma and co were running to him for help in season 4, Emma went to him specifically about her powers, yet Emma still doesn’t trust him. Really? Emma’s letting her son work with a guy she doesn’t trust? There has been no lead up to Emma not trusting Rumple then suddenly in Heroes and Villains she doesn’t trust him.
Least Favourite Neal Moment– A definite three way tie between Neal using Roland as bait in Quite a Common Fairy, Neal leaving Rumple in Neverland in Nasty Habits, and Neal resurrecting Rumple in Quiet Minds. I think there was a definite shift in the writing of Neal’s character between season 2 and 3. In season 2, Neal was written as a fairly nice decent guy who was considerate of others, who was being taken for a ride by Tamara, who regretted leaving Emma, who still loved his father despite Rumple abandoning him and who was struggling to reconcile the betrayal of abandonment and the love he still felt for his father. Emma was also struggling to reconcile the betrayal of Neal’s abandonment with the love she felt for him. However, in season 3 Neal seemed more selfish, less considerate of others and just more “my way or the high way”.
Neal using Roland as bait-I get why Neal did this, however at the same time, it seemed a little OOC for him to so willingly guilt trip Robin into letting him use Roland as bait for the shadow. Had Neal accepted Robin’s initial answer of no and struggled to find another way then Robin gave in and offered Roland because of the whole honour frame of mind aka helping those in need, then it would’ve been more in character for Neal.
Neal leaving Rumple in Neverland- Again, I get why Neal did this but it was such a stupid idea. Clearly Pan wanted to drive a wedge between Rumple and Bae for the very reason that it would mean Neal would separate from Rumple and then Pan could swoop in and take Henry which is exactly what Pan did. Whilst Rumple could’ve become a problem later, he wasn’t a priority at that particular point in time, Pan was the imminent threat. Neal should’ve stuck with Rumple until they could regroup with Emma and co then dealt with Rumple.
Neal resurrecting Rumple- Again, I get why Neal did this but the way he did it seemed a bit OOC. He wasn’t thinking at all, didn’t listen to Belle when she said something wasn’t right about it and that they would find another way. Neal seemed very cold towards bringing Rumple back in that he didn’t care about Rumple himself but the fact that Rumple could possibly get him to Emma and Henry. Neal seemed hypocritical in the sense that throughout season 2 and 3A (and season 1 if you want to include young Bae in the mix), he’s been rallying AGAINST Rumple’s darkness, now he wanted to use that darkness because it could get him what he wanted. That is not the Neal we met in season 2.
Favourite SwanFire Scene– Emma and Neal walking through the forest in Quiet Minds before it all goes wrong. Emma and Neal just walking through a forest and talking, so simple yet so heart warming. They’re putting their past to rest, they’re joking around with each other. They would’ve made a great team on the parenting front.
Saddest SwanFire Moment– Emma tells Neal she had hoped he was dead in Ariel. Besides the “Be careful what you wish for” factor, it’s Neal realising just how much Emma was emotionally hurting in regards to him. He doesn’t say anything (though when she later tries to apologise he tells her it’s okay) he just gives her a hug and in that moment, that’s what Emma needed.
Funniest SwanFire Moment– Emma and Neal shoplifting in Talahassee. Neal actually buying a map so that they can steal other stuff, Emma pretending to go into labour, this was a lovely scene for the two of them.
Bad*** SwanFire Moment– Emma and Neal fight Tamara then Neal gets sucked into the portal. Emma saves Neal from being shot by Tamara and Neal saves Emma from being sucked into the portal. I like how there is no Damsel in Distress in this scene. Both Neal and Emma work together as a team and Neal sacrifices himself and has to relive his most traumatic experience in order to save Emma and his son.
Favourite Emma Outfit– Emma’s iconic red jacket look.

Favourite Neal Outfit– Neal’s EF Outfit

Favourite Emma Platonic Ship– A tie between Emma and Charming and Emma and Hook.
Emma and Charming- It’s family so it might not count but I like how Charming has never pushed the “I’m your parent” issue on Emma unlike Snow. Charming has been there when Emma’s needed him but he knows when to back off and not interfere. He lets Emma come to him and arguably has a stronger relationship with her than Snow does.
Emma and Hook- I liked the dynamic between the two in Tallahassee up the beanstalk. I think if they had pursued the friendship angle with CS rather than a romantic angle, then I think the CS ship would hold more emotional weight especially with the 4A events rather than another love interest of Emma’s nearly bites the dust.
Favourite Neal Platonic Ship– A tie between Neal and Rumple and Neal and Belle.
Neal and Rumple- Again, a family ship so might not count. I loved how complex Rumple and Neal’s relationship was. They both love each other but there is so much hurt and family secrets and all sorts. It’s not simple but it’s not over the top in its complexities. The obstacle for this ship was themselves, not an outside source. There was so much emotional depth and it’s a shame that opportunity has all gone to waste. There were ways they could’ve kept the Baelfire character around, such as de-aging him into Dylan Schmid, if the only point of getting rid of Neal was to pursue CS.
Neal and Belle- This ship was such a nice inversion of the “evil stepmother” trope so prevalent in fairytales. It is such a shame we didn’t get more Belle and Neal interaction.
Favourite Emma Quote– “Maybe I don’t need answers. Maybe I just need to punch you in the face!” from Broken.
Favourite Neal Quote– Neal’s home speech from 322. I won’t type out the whole thing but it was lovely and so true.

ParticipantWithout a doubt season 3 would have been better is all 22 epis were about NVL arc, like Pan coming to SB and then there switch with henry body, meaning that part B would develop from there, and maybe S4 would be Oz, and who knows S5 the Queens of darkness or Frozen, with this they could develop all characters and have equal amount of screen time.
I completely agree. One of the main complaints about the Neverland arc was that it was constantly the same piece of scenery in the dark and people got fed up of it and wanted Storybrooke back. If the Neverland arc had been 22 episodes, they could’ve afforded to put at least a scene of Storybrooke in each episode so people wouldn’t miss it so much and, since Belle was actually there, it would’ve been nice to see what she was doing whilst everyone else was in Neverland. Also, 22 episodes would’ve have given chance for the Neverland characters to be fleshed out more, we could’ve had flashbacks of Bae’s time in Neverland. Also, considering Pan and Felix were recasting the dark curse, they are either the most efficient and well organised curse casters on the show having everything ready in “less than a day” or Regina was really really lazy when it came to casting the dark curse originally since it took her at least nearly 9 months between issuing the threat and actually casting the curse (and that’s assuming Snow got pregnant on the wedding night). Having Pan in Henry’s body could’ve been the main thing of 3B since Jared did his best acting then and having Pan in the midst but being unaware of it would’ve really heightened the tension in Storybrooke.
Zelena could’ve been more sympathetic if she’d been fleshed out more. If the writers hadn’t decided to make Zelena the WW, they could’ve cut out Oz and still told exactly the same story. That’s how insignificance Oz was. Zelena could’ve been a great villain but instead, because of the lack of time to flesh her out properly, she came across as whiny and a spoilt brat.
Ingrid could’ve stood up on her own without the need to be attached to Frozen. Frozen was too new for Once. The thing is that the Disney movies actually exist within the show hence Neal telling Mulan about her movie, how are Emma and everyone else going to react when Frozen comes out in-universe because supposedly timeline wise they’re in early 2013 and Frozen came out late 2013. But the main characters got pushed aside to do Frozen because there wasn’t time.
I’m not having high hopes for the QODs. Considering 11 episodes wasn’t enough to flesh out Pan or Zelena properly, Ingrid got away with it because she was in an urn for a lot of the time, how are they going to satisfactorily flesh out 3 villains. Chances are they won’t.
The 30 days thing is really cute, saw many in tumblr, except the day 17, about what to expect from next season , there is nothing to expect, in S4 and S5, im sorry, but many people online, Ranisha even posted the links, see that they are doing every possible for people to forget Neal/Bae ever existed on the show, the especial bf S4 was example of that and all the other things that happened during part A. Like i said before just hope they dont retcon the wtches story and make Neal look bad.
A&E have said Neal didn’t call the cops so if they change their minds on that then it will be absolutely clear without a doubt that they have changed their original story and then they can’t deny it. I kind of think Neal may return in some sort of capacity either end of 4B or early 5A, it’s just a feeling at the minute.
Maybe we can just pick things from the 30 day thing instead of doing it all?

Participant-Henry doesn’t seem to have the ability to do magic. Does this mean that Swanfire wasn’t true love? Perhaps not all true love babies have magic…Philora’s baby, Cinderella’s baby. (Why is Emma so special, then? Why is she the savior?).
Because Rumple used Snowing’s true love as a safety valve on the dark curse, that made Emma the saviour. Not all true love babies are magical, only when it’s convenient.
I don’t think Emma’s Soul Mate/True Love is captain Hook, nor do I think it was Baelfire. I think he (or she!) is yet to come. Maybe King Arthur or Merlin lol. Emma can have one while Regina can give up on Robin and have the other haha.
I agree Emma’s true love isn’t Hook. I would also be very happy if Regina gave up on Robin and found love elsewhere, preferably with someone whose wife or relative she didn’t murder in the past. In regards to Baelfire, I think there is evidence within the show to support that they were true love. What was interesting about them is that they were operating by the real world rules as opposed to the fairytale rules so there was kind of this clash between the two ideologies.
Henry has the heart of the Truest Believer. I’m sure that must mean something even though it was never explored. When Henry was born, there was the whole flickering light thing that also happened when Baby Snowflake was born, and we know that baby snowflakes are indeed true love, so I think that may be an indication. Also, the swan necklace survived the curse that sent everyone back to the EF, and as was said by Belle, it survived because it was born of True Love. There is no other explanation of why that necklace would have gone with neal to to EF other than that. So yes, I truly believe that Neal and Emma were true love and A&E intended them to be shown as such.
There was a lot of things that could’ve been explored in the Neverland arc that never was because of lack of time. Neverland would’ve been perfect for a spinoff because of all those unanswered questions.
Henry had the perfect setup to actually do stuff in Neverland. He had the heart of the truest believer and was in a land that ran on belief. Neverland was Henry’s time to shine and he kind of just sat there as Pan spoon fed him lie after lie. There were lines setting up interesting opportunities that were then wasted. For example, Devin said that Henry was “the most vicious recruit” they had in ages- considering Pan had said some lost boys had lost fingers because of their games, and the worst Henry did was scratch Devin with a sword, this seems like a massive overreaction. Felix told Pan they were “losing the boy”- This would have been the perfect opportunity for Pan to pull out the big guns and really screw with Henry’s head and try and turn him against his family. Instead, Pan just got Wendy to bat her eyelashes at Henry and then he was putty in Pan’s hands. There is no reason why Henry would genuinely ignore the pleads of his dad and two moms in favour of Pan when he was starting to distrust Pan the episode prior. Why would he believe Pan over his parents?
It would be odd for Belle to say so definitively that the necklace was born of true love if that wasn’t intended to be the case. For A&E to come out and then say “that was just Belle’s opinion” seems strange when it could’ve easily been written as Belle offering that as a possible explanation instead of a definitive answer. Neal’s death could’ve actually been “bold storytelling” if the other characters were allowed to actually deal with the repercussions of that and grieve and mourn. But again, wasted opportunities because of limited time.
I think Emma and Hook make great friends. I have always seen the potential friendship chemistry between them but never a serious romantic one. And as the seasons go on I want them to be together less and less. Hook is just…such a *mumbles* >> I don’t think Emma even NEEDS to have a suitor on her arm. But if they must, I would go with just about anyone besides Hook. Hey, maybe we can get A&E to make SwanCricket happen
I completely agree. I prefer Hook and Emma as just friends, there is too many obstacles for them to work out romantically, not least Henry admitting he never liked Hook. Also Hook needs to tell Emma about his past including Milah. Milah isn’t just an ex-partner, she wasNeal’s mother and Henry’s grandmother.
I could ship SwanCricket. Archie’s caring, kind and considerate, Henry likes him, he’s an upstanding member of the community, he’s tried to help both Regina and Rumple in the past who are members of Henry’s family, he took the time to comfort Belle when she was feeling down about Rumple, he encourages people to open up but doesn’t push them into doing things they don’t want to do. Archie seems like quite a decent guy that could offer Emma and Henry stability with his patience and good job. The only question is if Emma would be interested or would she find him not her type.
Going by Emma choices in previous romantic partners, she tends to go for dark haired men with a bit of mystery and danger about them.I wrote something brilliant about Bobby’s potential departure and then lost it. In essence it was Bobby leaves the show ends.
I agree. Rumple is perhaps the most complicated character on the show, if he leaves then the show would definitely lose one of its strongest assets. I’m rooting for RumBelle to get their happy ending, I don’t want Rumple to die. Screwball Ninja brought up an interesting point in one of her essays. Because the writers made Rumple so powerful, they now have to come up with ways to keep him out of the way so that the “heroes” have to take the time to solve their own problems instead of running to him for help and sorting it quickly. For example, the writers had to have Rumple go off on his own in Neverland because once he actually started working with the others they found Henry and saved him within an episode. Rumple actually found and had Henry with Neal in 304 so of course the writers needed to drag it out to 309. In 3B the writers had to have Rumple enslaved to Zelena because once he was out from under her control, he then went and straight up murdered her. Zelena would’ve been dead a lot sooner if Rumple had been on the loose from the start. In season 4, the writers need Rumple to be the “big bad” because otherwise the heroes don’t have a problem to solve because Rumple would’ve already sorted it. RumBelle had to be split up because there is no way Rumple could be “evil” with Belle constantly acting as his conscience. The writers have realised that Rumple is the magical problem solver on the show and it wouldn’t make sense for the “heroes” not to use him. Therefore every time there is a problem on the show now, Rumple is conveniently unavailable to help in some form or another.
Watcher came up with a good idea in chat last night about doing a 30 days of SwanFire thing.
