ParticipantI dislike the Ruby/Dorothy pairing. There was no chemistry there, it felt so forced, it didn’t feel natural. I think Mulan would’ve been a better fit for Dorothy because they have similar characteristics. Also it’s never been hinted before that Ruby was into women as well as men so the fact that she all of a sudden had feelings for Dorothy seemed a little rush.
I mean I know in real life some people are attracted to the person rather than a gender eg they don’t identify as gay/lesbian or bi but there is a name for it but I can’t think what it is. Anyone know? However, in tv shows, they tend to signpost a little more when a character is interested in both genders or people from both genders. Ruby being interested in Dorothy kind of came out of left field.
On the plus side, I guessed Dorothy was going to be one half of the LGBT relationship when her casting call came out. I just don’t think Red should’ve been the other half. Mulan would’ve been a better fit.

ParticipantI think it would have been better if Belle had been put under the sleeping curse against her will and then Rumple is forced to choose between Belle and his power rather than Belle giving him a kick in the teeth by doing it anyway when Rumple told her it was a bad idea and then insinuating that Rumple’s TLK wouldn’t be good enough since she asked for her father to kiss her awake. It’s like “Belle, your husband is stood right in front of you!”
I have a theory that the reason why Rumple and Belle are forced to be at odds with each other all the is because if the writers allowed the characters to dictate where the story was headed RumBelle’s problems would’ve been resolved at the end of season 3.

ParticipantHook being able to change names raises issues:
1. If he can change names then why doesn’t he swap Regina’s, Emma’s and Charming’s names for Rumple, Zelena (two people he doesn’t like) and, since nobody in the main “hero” group cares about her, Belle.
2. If Hook does indeed do that, then it makes Hook like a complete and selfish prat.
Basically the writers have written Hook into a corner where either action makes him look bad.

Zelena- Zelena is one of the best things of season 5. This episode she’s just trying to enjoy a few drinks and keeps getting disturbed.
The Charming/Hook scene- It made Hook seem somewhat likeable this episode.
The blind witch “Sorry no dogs allowed” I did laugh at that and Ruby’s reaction.
Hades- Always a highlight and I’m kind of rooting for him to win.
Mixed
The Dorothy/Red relationship- On the one hand, it’s great that they’re doing an LGBT relationship and the other characters accept it no problem. On the other hand, I don’t buy this particular relationship. There was no chemistry and it just feels completely forced. Mulan is rendered completely useless and could be cut out completely without changing the story eg have Dorothy make the potion and that she needed the poppies hence why she and Ruby went to the field. Basically this was the neon flashing “special episode”.
Snow’s line “people in love hurt each other all the time”- I find this line somewhat troubling. Whilst I get what Snow was probably aiming for “sometimes the people we love do things that make us upset”, the phrasing used is not what I’d say describes a healthy relationship. If a couple in love are hurting each other all the time then that’s not a good relationship for either party to be in.
Belle going under the sleeping curse- I get why she’s doing it to stop Hades potentially accelerating the pregnancy which is a very real possibility and the sleeping curse would prevent that. However, it felt like she deliberately gave Rumple a kick in the teeth by telling him that her father’s kiss would wake her up. It’s practically telling Rumple that his kiss isn’t good enough. It just seemed a bit off.
Disliked
Dorothy’s backstory being too close to Alice’s from Wonderland- It’s practically the same. Girl visits magical land, returns home, family don’t believe her and think she’s crazy. Alice’s father didn’t believe her until he visited Wonderland himself. I don’t think Dorothy’s family’s reaction is bad as such. If this was the real world and a family member started talking about a magical land they visited as a real thing, you’d get them seen by a doctor who may have them “committed” or “sectioned” for their own safety so that they could get the help and support they need.
Regina blackmailing Zelena with baby greenbean- I dislike when Regina gets a holier than thou attitude.
Hook being able to change the names on the gravestone- It’s too convenient but also what’s to stop him sticking Rumple’s name on one stone and Zelena on another (two people he dislikes) and since none of the heroes give a crap about Belle, why not stick her name on too then suddenly you’ve got 3 trades so Emma, Regina and Charming get their names off the stone. It’s annoying because either way makes Hook look like a douchebag. If he doesn’t do it, then it’s kind of “why doesn’t he do that”, but if he did do it then it’s “Hook’s being a selfish prat again. All he cares about is Emma”.

ParticipantI’m still not entirely convinced it’s Ruby. I think it’s Dorothy and Mulan. Crack Theory: What if the reason Ruby is in the netherworld is because she has to find Mulan? Then Mulan will wake up Dorothy?

ParticipantI think one of the many problems with CS is that Hook is completely mismatched with Emma, and the writers are trying to force both characters into a role that doesn’t suit them.
The writers are dumbing down Emma’s character and sense of self-worth because no way would season 1/2 Emma ever put up with Hook. However, Hook’s character is suffering in a sense because the writers are trying to force him into the role of “doting boyfriend” whilst retaining his “pirate” attitude and it just makes him look like a complete douchebag and reflects badly on Emma because she lets him get away with his bad behaviour.
Hook would be better off as a member of the group without a romantic attachment. He’s the guy the “heroes” would go to when they need dirt on somebody. Hook works as someone who plays boths sides against the middle not as a romantic love interest.

ParticipantI keep wondering if DAVID and JAMES are even going to meet up ?? I have not heard of that happening in any of the theories …. but I think it should.
I think it has been mentioned before that David and James will meet each other at some point. I think it was in an interview or something, I think it was either Adam or Eddy that said something along the lines of “It would be serious shame if they never met”. I wonder if it was one of those hot seats where they answer the questions with “yes”, “no”, or “cant say”?

ParticipantRG’s prediction: 1.1
I’d say a 1.1 as well, perhaps maybe dipping to a 1.0
I say that because this episode looks to be primarily a Mulan/Red/Dorothy episode and because it’s been so long since we last saw them in an episode that didn’t have much relevance to the overall arc, interest in those particular characters isn’t sky high. They missed the opportunity with Mulan and Red in season 3 and nobody really cares about Dorothy enough to be invested in her well-being.

ParticipantI think they’ll kill off Robin, keep him dead for the rest of this season then possibly bring him back next season. It’d be too hypocritical to have the characters rush off to save Hook from death yet leave Robin to rot in the ground. Also, considering Hook is a divisive character as it is, it would only do to make him more unpopular if he gets saved yet other characters are thrown under the bus. Saying that, Hook is without a doubt a “Creator’s Pet” so the writers obviously think the sun shines out his backside.
They wouldn’t count Hades as a “major character” for this season would they? Is it definitely one of the regulars?
Also, if they did kill Robin off for good, there’s no way they could write his death without there being issues:
1. If they have Robin move on, possibly with Marian thus giving Robin a “happy ending”, it makes Regina look like a placeholder.
2. If they have Robin “wait” for Regina, then he’s just sat twiddling his thumbs in Underbrooke until Regina grows old and dies.
Either way, it won’t be a satisfactory end to Robin’s story if they do kill him off for good.

ParticipantWhat’s interesting as well is that, since this error was picked up by a lot of fans and Adam seemingly spent a good chunk of time responding about this, then perhaps A&E will realise they’ve got to be more careful timeline wise because fans will pick up on any mistakes.
