I know, Geppetto chose that. But she was involved and it was another instance of separation that I put there for completeness. And not stopping them from separating is specifically what lead to Emma and parents having to separate.

Why didn’t the Blue Fairy go with Baelfire after their little chat and explain to Rumpel the solution she offered Baelfire and then leave them to dicuss it? Instead she went behind Rumpel’s back and gave his child an extreme choice. Baelfire was desperate and the Blue Fairy kind of took advantage of that because getting rid of the dark one would be beneficial to her. She likes to make out she’s all goodness and light but I don’t think she is.
EXACTLY. If someone gave my child something like that without asking me I would be ticked off at them, just like he was! The best analogy I can make is giving a kid a plane/bus/train ticket across the country. Sure, maybe it’s for him AND his dad but you can’t REALLY know what the kid will do with that ticket. She is the adult and she should’ve known to make the deal with another adult–Bae’s guardian, not Bae himself. The deal was definitely made behind his back and if not for her INTERFERENCE Bae would still be there. That’s a fact.
It would all be different if Bae was in trouble and he needed protection from or specifically to get away from his father but that’s not what was needed or what anyone wanted that bean for.
The BF seemed like she was willing to help Rumple at first. But then he got mad and she insulted him and he got madder so she left. Well, fine. Maybe I would’ve left too. But I wouldn’t have washed my hands of the whole situation like she did. She could’ve told people what he was threatening/planning to do and asked for help in finding a different way for him to get to Bae or at least in stopping him from making that curse.
Maybe I wouldn’t be so frustrated with her if she would come right out and say that she’s neutral. But she’s supposedly good and people trust her! She’s MOTHER SUPERIOR in SB, for goodness sake! So I hate how she acts! She’s a bad fairy godmother! She should be better than this. Separating sons and fathers, parents and daughter, and lovers too, ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!
Seriously, she’s got quite a rap sheet:
- Separated Rumple and Baelfire
- Separated Nova and Grumpy
- Separated Geppetto and Pinnochio
- Separated Emma and parents (Snow/Charming)
She only purposefully separated Nova and Grumpy. She hadn’t planned to separate the others. Yet that’s what keeps happening! She could’ve avoided separating any of them if she’d acted differently…
riddleravenParticipantGood discussion!
I think Rumple did everything wrong that day, from breaking his promise, to letting Bae go, to deciding to curse the whole world. I see him as the bad guy in that, although I also see him as someone redeemable. He’s done some undeniably bad things though and he shouldve been stopped when it came to worldwide (even realmwide?) cursing. CURSING. Realm-wide. Jeez!
As for whether he wouldve accepted the BF’s tree idea or not, I think he would’ve eventually, though maybe not at first. Once again he was a Desperare Soul and he wouldn’t have waited centuries if there was a quicker method at his disposal. But even if I’m wrong about that, which I very well could be. I still just can’t forgive the BF if indeed she never tried to stop him. :/ Am I wrong to be so harsh on her? I just feel like most “good” people would not keep quiet about such a plot.

Having Regina just say it though like that. That she has known all along. That is the sort of thing that makes me think the writers are flying by the seat of their pants. If Regina has always known then why hide that information from the audience and then just throw it out there as if it was always known?
I like the explaination phee gave. It makes sense. But I agree with you Heather. The way they suddenly revealed SO MUCH makes me feel like theyre making it up as they go along too.
riddleravenParticipantAww, you’re too harsh on Eric! 🙁 He couldn’t help his wandering eye! Ursula bewitched him! And he didn’t just fall in love with Ariel for her voice or her looks. Who could resist a beautiful, mysterious person of the opposite sex who saved their life and then disappeared before they could thank them?? I couldn’t!! And the way it happened was almost like a dream (the old guy thought he’d drunk too much seawater when he heard the story) so I’m not surprised he would keep thinking about that girl and crush on her! Frankly, ARIEL’s the superficial one who fell in love with him because of his looks and his species!!! I always thought she was crazy. Especially because of the thing with the statute…
Okay, all of that is to say that I really hope Dr. Whale is not Eric! Booo. But I’m probably biased in liking Eric and not liking Dr. Whale. xD
riddleravenParticipantShe was Snow White in that scene. With David, she wasn’t–she was just Mary Margaret. But things are moving along now and Snow’s starting to peep through. Maybe she will forgive him and the townspeople now, in the same way. That’d be great!
riddleravenParticipantY-E-S!
riddleravenParticipantNo, I agree. I’m not talking about a specific plan for if Bae showed up looking for the knife. I’m talking about a plan for if ANYONE ever showed up looking for the knife, having learned of it somehow. It’s paranoid but that situation is exactly what happened. Some strange person found out about the knife somehow and came looking for it. He had a drawing and everything.
As for the timing here’s what happened: Emma came, Rumple remembered/figured out everything and knew he had to hide the knife. Which he did. But he couldve gone a step further with the duplicate, fake knife. I dont know if he did do that but some people would. It was just a little idea of mine.
riddleravenParticipantIt’s not crazy. Forgeries are useful–that’s why they exist. So it is possible that Rumple could create a forgery of his knife and put it in a likely enough place so that if something like this ever happened he wouldn’t have to reveal the location of the real knife. Whoever found the dummy would just think it doesn’t work. I’m also thinking of how in some tv shows there are dummy safes in somewhat obvious locations so that if anyone breaks in they find that safe first and whatever is in it instead of finding the better hidden, secondary safe with the real treasure.
I don’t think it’s very likely that that actually happened in this case (as they say, I watch too much TV!). It probably was the real knife. Either way, I still think he purposefully used the knife to test August. It felt, to me, like he didn’t trust August. It felt like he was testing him–either specifically to figure out if he was Bae, or specifically to see what his intentions were for the knife. First Rumple thought August wanted the knife to kill him, then he thought August wanted to destroy it because that’s what Bae would want it for. But he didn’t ask August and August didn’t explain. So all Rumple really knew was that August wanted the knife for some reason. So give him the knife, which he already knows isn’t too dangerous because it won’t work, and find out what August’s real intentions are. I think it’s a good test that a wary, distrustful, cynical person like Rumple would make, you know?
riddleravenParticipantPersonally, not liking Pinocchio’s fairy tale isn’t my reason for not liking the Pinocchio theory at all. I actually do like Pinocchio and I would love for him to be in the show. It’s just that I don’t want him to be August or the seven year old boy who found Emma or even grown up at all. I’d rather he and Geppetto be in Jefferson and Grace’s situation, separated from each other by the curse. But I do think there’s a lot of evidence pointing toward Pinocchio and August probably is him and the writers probably can reveal it in a way I will like, even though they haven’t won me over yet and I would still rather him be someone else.
