ParticipantYeah, your standard season order for an American drama is 22 episodes, but as hjbau points out, there’s variation with that. A season of a successful show is usually only shorter than that if there’s something like the writer’s strike, or some other factor affecting production (for example Emily Deschanel’s pregnancy on Bones shortening this season), and occasionally an episode will get pulled for some reason (Of course, first seasons are an exception to this and can often be 9-13 episodes, but that’s obviously not the case here). Having an extra couple of episodes does seem to be pretty arbitrary unless it’s built into the show’s structure like with 24, but with a show like OUAT, it’d be highly unusual to go any higher than 23 or 24 and 22 is the norm.
And hiatuses are a part of American Television, whether it’s one-week preemptions from awards shows or sports games, the mid-season winter hiatus over Christmas, or other “random” hiatuses like the one we have now. Like Hjbau said, it’s necessary to allow production to keep up, and to extend the season from September/October through to about May (and hit all the sweeps months).
They do tend to run TV shows straight through here in NZ, which is always nice, but our TV is far less seasonal than the US (Some shows run Feb to June, others May to September, and others July to December etc.) And if they did that in the US, we’d have to wait half a year between seasons, which would be even worse than a bunch of mini-hiatuses.[adrotate group="5"]romantic_sheep
ParticipantI don’t know that this helps figure anything out, but I noticed that to date we’ve only seen him directly interact with Emma, Henry and Ruby. Thought that was kind of interesting.

ParticipantI am so incredibly tempted to go through and figure what all of these tracks sound like. Can’t wait to get my hands on this!

Participant@mia, what episode is that first quote from? I’m guessing one of the first five, but I can’t remember which.

ParticipantMost of my favourite lines are more about the delivery than anything special about the line itself. Two examples would be Gold’s “Well, it is my shop” in Desperate Souls and Regina’s “But I told you, very specifically, not to.” in Stable Boy.

ParticipantHaha, @cruel_fortuna, I love your dream!
I had one a couple of weeks back where I was watching OUAT. To skip to the relevant part, I was in a massive lecture theatre when Stable Boy (this was before it had aired,of course) suddenly came on the big screens and the front. I immediately dropped what I was doing, sat down in the aisle and told everyone to be quiet. And then after a couple of minutes, just as things were starting to get going, my alarm went off. Suffice to say, I was not happy.

ParticipantAugust thinks that Henry is a “smart kid” for believing in magic.
He orders a glass of water at Granny’s
The book is “as real as [he is]”
August arrived at the end of “True North” but doesn’t give Emma his name. It is not until they meet for the third time that he reveals his name.
He says that Storybrooke “provides inspiration”
Emma asks him at least twice if he’s been to Storybrooke before (7.15am, What Happened to Frederick) and he avoids the question.

ParticipantYeah, I agree that the call was just a cover.
@mia, I agree that Regina would’ve thought she broke in anyway (especially since Emma must’ve talked about the shovel in front of the bug, and probably didn’t bother to keep up her cover story when she thought she was clear). Although it was a pretty half-hearted attempt at covering her tracks on Emma’s part. *Heads straight for a very specific point in the garage and then asks where “it” is*romantic_sheep
ParticipantAnd I’m probably missing some here, because it comes up a lot, but here goes:
Pilot
Snow: “You, you found me.”
Charming: “Well you never have to worry, I will always find you”
Charming (to baby Emma): “Find us”Snow Falls
Charming: “No matter what you do. I will always find you.”7.15am
Charming (to the pigeon): “Find her”
Charming (to Ruby): “Then I’ll find her. I will always find her.”Heart of Darkness
Charming: “I told you, I will always find you”
Snow: “James! I will find you! I will always find you.”romantic_sheep
ParticipantWow, that’s quite the collection! Good work! 🙂
From 7.15am:
Mary Margaret: “I can’t get him out of my head… I wish there was a magic cure”
Snow: “I wish there was a way to get him out of my head.” -
