Is it totally weird that I’m obsessed with this little shuffle he does before he kisses her though?
O OMG!!! The Killian Shuffle. I totally noticed that too and thought it was so totally adorable because it showed how much there was absolutely NO Captain Hook there and it was ALL Killian gearing up to give TLK a go!!
It reminds me of how I was obsessed with how Rumple’s leather squeaked when he leaned in before he and Belle kissed in Skin Deep.
@emmajones I agree with you. I think her “Sorry” was a generalized sorry that things didn’t work out between us, sorry that I had to tell you that I wished you were dead, sorry that I didn’t show up for our “date”, sorry I didn’t choose you. And I felt like Neal’s response was honestly that he is okay with it – that he has accepted that they are a family and that is it and he is okay with that. And I didn’t take his statement about seeing each other again in any kind of romantic way at all – I took it no differently than if Snow or Charming had told her the same thing. And the hug to me was not a romantic hug at all, it felt like a surrender to the fact that they are done – like they were saying goodbye to their past relationship just as much as they were saying goodbye to each other while acknowledging that they are family. While they were hugging neither had any kind of expression and Neal was looking at Henry.
SF folks are saying that Emma didn’t even go to Hook like she did to everyone else, that she was going to just leave without saying goodbye to him. But in NL CS has their “moments” when they were away from the rest of the group. That’s what that scene felt like to me. Emma turned and walked toward to the car as Hook walked toward her so they could have a private CS “moment.”
Something important about that scene with Emma and Hook. Emma wants Killian to be thinking of her. Remember that Snow has said that wants another baby and just told Emma that sometimes happy endings aren’t what we expect. I imagine that she fully expects that she will be replaced by another baby in the EF and forgotten about. Neal has told her that if the only thing that came of their relationship was Henry that that was great and that he would stop bothering her if she didn’t show up to their date so I’m guessing she imagines he will find someone else in the EF and forget about her. But Hook . . . she knows that it took him 300 years to get over his first love and the only reason he could move on from Milah was because of HER. Killian was the ONLY one who told her that he would be thinking of her – it doesn’t matter that she won’t be able to think about him. These are the people she loves and what gave her strength on NL was being reminded of how many people love her. We saw in the last episode how she is lost without Killian. She is about to drive away and doesn’t know what she is going to find, she won’t have any memories, and she won’t have the person who gives her the most strength and confidence. So knowing that the man who spent 300 years getting over his first love will be thinking of her every day is something she NEEDS, even if she won’t be able to remember it. And she can have complete faith that Killian won’t replace her because she knows he spent 300 years unable to get over his first love – and he loves her more.
You know an episode is good when you cry every time you rewatch it!!
Honestly, I LOVE all our CS moments but the part that gets me the most and makes the tears flow the worst? When Regina takes Emma’s hand and says “My gift to you is good memories.” Oh, wow it makes me cry even to type it.
The fact that, after hating Emma for so long and wanting her to leave, she purposely rewrites her memories so that she believes she never gave Henry up and that she had the life with him she always wanted – and that they will be HAPPY memories. And just the fact that she uses the word “gift.” Before she leaves to go back to what she obviously believes is a life doomed to no happy ending because she has to give up the thing she loves most (Henry) she wants to give Emma, who has been her rival for Henry’s affections, a GIFT!!!! Just kill me now!!!!’
Okay, I’m sorry but this is officially my new headcanon
We have spoken about Killians face but look at Emma. Yes she is surprised to see this man dressed as a pirate at her front door but it is the look of surprise that she knows this face. She recognizes him. Almost in shock to see Killian.
Emma probably dreamt of his face. To her it was her imagination creating an image of man that didn’t exist. Now there he was standing in front of her. Saying her name. It took her by surprise that he could actually be real.
This could explain why when Killian kisses Emma she leans and closes her eyes for a brief moment. There is a part of her that knows him.
That same part the reminds her of who Killian is may also be the same part that reminds her that she like cinnamon on her hot chocolate and wear Grahams shoelace everyday. They are just important moments in her life that are ingrained in who she is and no memory loss can take it away.

(Of course *ahem* my jaw would probably drop and I would also probably lose my breath if I opened my front door and saw Colin O’Donoghue standing there, even if I didn’t recognize him).
I just noticed something that I think is important. I can’t figure out how to paste it here but when the curse rolls in and Henry is looking back, the final shot shows that it has engulfed everyone but Snow, Charming, Regina, and HOOK!!!! Once again Hook is included with the Charmings but Neal isn’t – and this is even the last image that Henry sees before his memory is wiped away.
Okay, the way he looks when he says he can make her remember and then grabs her and kisses her – I could stare at that forever. It’s like that mirror in Harry Potter that people have stared at for so long that they grow old and die in front of it.
That’s me. Growing old and dying as I watch that clip. At least I know what I’ll be doing during the hiatus.
I am such a pile a mush after last night.
We got so many CS moments – SF just doesn’t exist at all in a romantic sense, in a family sense – absolutely. But other than that, I honestly see nothing else from either Emma or Neal to suggest any kind of lingering romantic feelings. Obviously Neal wants to see Emma and Henry again – they are his family, but I think it was pretty clearly established last night that the entire group has become one big family – some just have more genuine ties than others.
What I loved the most about the episode? Killian was the man he wanted to be throughout the entire episode. He never once back-peddled into Hook. It KILLED me when we saw the look on his face when he realized he was going to lose Emma. 300 years of getting over his first love before he finds his True Love and now he is going to lose her as well. So when he tells Emma there won’t be a day that will go by that he won’t think about her, you KNOW it’s true. He thought about Milah for 300 years and she wasn’t even his True Love. Emma’s “Good” response to me was just like the Star Wars “I know.” She knows he thought about Milah for 300 years, she doesn’t have to even question whether he is just saying that he will think about her every day because that is something you say when you are saying goodbye, she KNOWS from experience with him that it is true. And the smile that Killian gave Emma?? Gahhhh!!!! To me that was an acknowledgement that he “gets” that she loves him. Hook and Emma aren’t weepy and gushy like Snowing. He knew that in about 10 seconds she was not going to remember any of this. They got their “moment” in the midst of the bad.
My very favorite part of the episode though?? Knowing that the brief moment they shared right before Emma left changed Hook in a major way. Because that moment coupled with whatever happened in the year they were apart resulted in a very different Killian showing up at Emma’s door. I don’t know how to post all the gifs but go and look at his face when she opens the door. Hook has always given Emma the longing glances and the intense stares, and when they said goodbye we got a look of genuine love. When they were in NL and he told her he was going to win her heart he spoke to her with confident authority but it was different. Even though he was wanting to become a man of honor he was still used to being a pirate. When Emma opens the door in NYC – he is 100% Killian in pirate’s clothes. He is so relieved to see her and he is confident but in a completely different way. He isn’t piratey or cocky or arrogant, is just so happy and in love with her. He KNOWS that she is his true love and because he says that he can make her remember him – he believes that he is her true love too!! He doesn’t question it at all. The only time they kissed before, he let her be totally in charge of it and it blew him away and made him realize she is his true love. This time he kisses her and does it with total authority – not pirate authority, like he can have whoever he wants, but with True Love authority – because this is the ONE woman on earth that he was meant to kiss. The difference to me seems to be that he has spent a year in the EF with the others, with people like Charming instead of on the JR.
This kiss is more like the Snowing kiss than the Rumbelle kiss. Rumple had zero confidence when he leaned in to kiss Belle in the hospital and she screamed bloody murder when she didn’t remember him. He apologized profusely and left because Rumple has always had difficulty believing that Belle could really love him. But with the Snowing kiss, Charming KNEW that Snow loved him even if she couldn’t remember that she did so he didn’t slink away with no confidence after she decked him. He believed in their true love. I think this is exactly what we are going to see with CS. He said that he had hoped Emma felt the same way, but we know he sticks around to make sure she gets her memories back. He is going to find a way to make her remember him. I think Killian believes in their True Love now and that has helped keep him going for the past year. And look at Emma’s face after she kicks Killian in the nads. She isn’t scared by this leather clad complete stranger that just grabbed her and kissed her, she doesn’t even look annoyed. She looks like she is trying to figure out where she knows him from/why he seems familiar. I agree with whoever said that I bet we find out that she has had dreams about Killian and the rest of her SB family.
Plus how cute was the “Captain Swan” nod we got from the writers. The SF folks kept saying that the bug represents Emma and Neal’s relationship and that it isn’t right that Hook rides in it. Sorry, but I think that just changed forever in this past episode. Emma is Captain Swan of the Yellow Bug.
Also, did it break anyone’s heart when Hook asked whether Regina could stop the curse or if they should start cleansing their souls or something like that because his was going to take a while. Like seriously, all the poor villains truly felt that none of the progress they made counted for anything. They couldn’t see the progress within themselves, only the others could see it. I think that Hook did realize it when he said goodbye to Emma – I think her love makes him realize he is a better man and he will carry that with him.
My only beef is why did no one console poor Belle when she was hysterical over poor Rumple in the middle of the street?? I mean, not even a hug, a quick shoulder rub? Nothing?? Her boyfriend just vanished into thin air and is presumed to be dead having sacrificed himself to save the entire town and everyone just ignores her? Geesh!!
