I have also wondered if his wife was Cora. When Cora gave her lecture to Regina after she ripped Daniel’s heart out she said something that sounded very similar to when to Rumple told Belle that his power means more to him that Belle did before he kicked her out of his rather large estate. There also seems to be some kind of odd connection between Regina and Rumple that we don’t know about yet and I have wondered if it is related to Cora somehow.

After re-watching some of the episodes again after seeing later episodes I always end up with new theories. After I watched Skin Deep again the other day I thought about Cora being Rumple’s wife again after Regina tells Rumple that Belle died. Right before she leaves his rather large estate she says in a very sarcastic voice “You should get a new girl.” It made me think that maybe that phrase had more meaning than JUST Belle. Maybe she meant “This is the SECOND girl you have lost – loser.”

I, personally, don’t have an issue with the timeline. If Rumple can be hundreds of years old, I don’t see any reason why Cora can’t be hundreds of years old as well. My theory on this is that they are going to do some kind of twist on the Rumplestiltskin story and that Cora will have somehow married beneath her (or in her eyes she will have married beneath her). She will view Rumple as a loser and will be looking for some kind of power to get herself out of what she sees as a lowly position and will find someone who can give her magic. Rumple may have been branded a coward because of his fear of her evil magic – she may even have been the one who hurt his leg. So I dont think she left him because he was a coward who ran – I think his running actually had something to do with her. I think she left Rumple and Bae because she wanted power. I think she continued to marry weak men – ex. Regina’s father. I think Rumple’s initial fear of the Dark One stems from his fear of Cora’s evil and I think she basically emotionally abused him and made him feel that he was unloveable.

I can’t wait to see how they handle Emma and MM. I’m simply currious to see what she calls her. “Mom?” “Mary Margaret?” “Snow?” This has to be one of the most interesting plot lines EVER on a television show.

Think about it – so when Emma does get a love interest I’m assuming she will still be living with MM, who will then be living with David – so she will be living with her parents?? So when the guy picks her up – her dad, who is the same age as her, will be sizing the guy up and trying to act like the protective father??? And then will they try to give her a curfew?? There don’t appear to be any actually walls on the bedrooms in MM’s apartment, right? So now she lives with her parents and will be bringing a guy back – with her parents there??? And most people are grossed out by the thought of their parents, um . . . . – but her parents used to be just her friends, and they are HER age. Did she used to think David was hot – cause really, would that just totally creep her out now??
Is David going to start calling her “Princess?” Cute nickname lots of dads call their little girls – totally different meaning for this particular one.

Will leather be acceptable attire in the Charming household?? Or will dresses be encouraged, Emma is royalty afterall. Will she have to get used to the dwarves dropping by for dinner all the time??

As much as I want Bae to be Henry’s father, I still have this nagging feeling that Jefferson is Bae. There seem to be so many things to point to him being Bae. For one Jefferson is a “realm jumper” for lack of a better term – something that would be realistic for Bae to learn to do if he wanted to find a way to get back to his father or find a way to bring his father to him. I know that Bae did not like magic, but he WAS willing to use magic to get his father away from magic. Using that logic it would make sense that he would be willing to use magic to find a way to get back to his father or find a way to bring his father to him.

Although we haven’t seen the backstory yet we know that SOMETHING went on with either Cora and Rumple or Regina and Rumple that resulted in Regina and Rumple at one time being very familiar with one another but ending in being enemies. We also know that SOMETHING went on with Regin and Jefferson that resulted in them at one time being very familiar with one another but ending in also being enemies. Regina and Jefferson use magic together via Jefferson’s hat to realm jump. They also talk ALL THE TIME about abandoning or being abandoned by family. In fact, Regina likes to tease and insult Jefferson about this. Jefferson has mentioned that he gave up magic because he lost his wife because of magic. It would be very like Regina to tease Jefferson if he was also Bae and had lost his father because Rumple didn’t go into the vortex with him. If Jefferson was willing to use magic to find his father even though he didn’t like magic – he would feel very guilty if magic caused him to “lose” his wife (similar wording that Rumple used to describe how he “lost” Bae) and it would be enough to make him give up magic and give up trying to find Rumple. It would also give Regina even more reason to tease and make fun of Jefferson (oh look, you’re just as pathetic as your father). Now, in SB Jefferson has been separated from his child – just like Rumple was separated from his child, all because of magic. If Jefferson is Bae he would know how painful it is to be aware of being ripped from your family because of magic – so he would prefer to have Grace live happily with a fake family than be aware of reality. If Regina has truely been controlling Jefferson he may know that his father has been only a few feet away from him for the past 28 years but he hasn’t been able to do anything about it – another reason he wouldn’t want Grace to know about who they really are – he knows how painful that would be. It would also make sense for Jefferson to free Belle for his father, also knowing that his father would get revenge on Regina for all three of them.

I wondered if there was some kind of correlation between August having Emma drink from the same well that Rumple tossed the bottled True Love into or if that was just supposed to be symbolic of August having lost Emma and vice versa. But since Emma was already supposed to have magic, and now the bottle that contained the hair of Snow and James is what has supposedly brought the magic back to SB, mean that Emma is going to have even stronger magic than before – magic similar to the kind of magic that Regina and Rumple had in FTL? That would kind of create and checks and balance situation in SB by having some good and some bad characters have magic. I’m still not sure about the Blue Fairy, but for arguements sake let’s put her on the side of good magic for now. With Emma and the BF on the side of good and Rumple and Regina on the side of bad (only for arguements sake – everyone knows I think Rumple’s ultimate goal is actually good 😀 ) that would kind of even things out, right?

I loved BOTH Rumbelle scenes. I didn’t have ANY problem with the scene in the woods. We have to remember that Gold had been planning for this particular moment for hundreds of years when suddenly Belle shows up. As much as he loves her and as overwhelmed as he is that she is alive he can’t just suddenly stop his years old plan to spend quality time with her. Her timing was a bit unfortunate for the big, romantic reunion we were all hoping for but I think that if you think about what was happening and the potential threat to both Regina and Rumple due to how everyone in SB feels about both Regina and Rumple, he had to work FAST to get magic back or he was going to be in serious danger. Regina wasn’t going to be the only person in SB who was going to need to hide – and Regina doesn’t have a limp and doesn’t have to walk with a cane.

I thought it was adorable that there was a brief moment of vulnerability to Rumple right after Belle said his name. He had this look like he wasn’t exactly sure what she was going to think of him or how she was going to feel about him now that she remembered who he is. I thought this addressed everyone who had a problem with how he treated her when she kissed him in Skin Deep. He did recognize that he didn’t treat her well and didn’t know how she was going to react to him. So when she told him that she loved him I felt like there was a feeling of relief from him that she still loved him not just that she remembered him, and when he said “yes” I felt like he was reminding himself “yes, you idiot she always did love you, you were just too untrusting to believe her.” And I thought that the way he said he loved her too had a bit of a sound of surrender to it – kind of like “Yep, you were right – you called me on it before. You always knew I loved you even though I tried to deny it.”

I also thought it was significant that, not only did he take her along with him to his trip to the well, but he also TOLD her what he was doing. In Skin Deep I had the impression that once he left Belle’s father’s castle he never let her see the side of him that used magic or made deals – kind of like he was very careful to only let her see one side of him. But instead of just taking her along to make sure she was with him to keep her protected, he is now including her in what his plan has been all along. She did ask him to tell her about Bae back in Skin Deep but he never did – now he has a chance to make good on that promise. I think he has a lot of guilt and regret with Belle and now has a opportunity to make up for the mistakes he made. But that doesn’t mean that he can just stop all the plans he has made for hundreds of years to get Bae back. It’s interesting to me that Rumple has ALWAYS worked alone but now it seems like he is going to have someone beside him.

I think the best place for Belle to stay is with Mr. Gold, for both her own safety and because I think he feels like he wasn’t able to protect her in FTL land so he needs to be able to do that in SB to overcome his guilt as well. If he can’t hold it together with her, then Belle is strong woman and can figure out on her own where she should go, but she will need to be with someone who is powerful enough to keep her safe from Regina – either with Emma or the Blue Fairy. As long as Rumple loves Belle she will always be Regina’s target and will need to be with someone who has magic to protect her.

Does anyone else wonder if the Kathryn thing is still going to be an issue even though everyone remembers now? I know that everyone will realize that David and Kathryn’s marriage was a sham but at one point Kathryn thought she was pregnant which means that they were . . .

Now Snow could be the most understanding woman on the planet about the curse but the thought of her husband and another woman getting it on, even if there is a perfectly logical explanation, doesn’t seem like something you could just forget about. I wonder if Archie will still be doing couples counseling in season 2?

I also get the feeling that the Blue Fairy is up to no good because Morraine said that she was the “Original Power” and some of her actions have been questionable to me. It seems like she might actually be another party in the power struggle between Rumple and Regina – like maybe because she was the Original Power she doesn’t like that anyone else has power.

But I also agree with hjbau that at the end of the day we might find out that Bae was better off without his father and ended up living a nice, normal life – something he couldn’t do with Rumple around. Based upon what happened at the end of the season finale (even though I DO think that Rumple primarily THINKS he wants his power/magic back to find Bae) who’s to say that even if Rumple had gone with Bae through the vortex that he would have been happy with a life without power/magic with Bae after he had had a taste of a life WITH power and magic? I think it would have been hard for Rumple to go back to living a “normal” life at that point in time because he hadn’t learned anything about himself yet – he only knew of himself as a coward or as a being who became powerful via a curse. I actually think he would have been really messed up as a person and as a father if he had gone through the vortex with Bae at that time even though he regretted NOT going through after Bae went through without him.

I think the only hope for Rumple living WITHOUT magic is for him to be redeemed and to understand that he isn’t a coward and to understand that he has power on his own WITHOUT a curse. But that will require him to make smart decisions and sacrifices for other people as well as for himself, and to stop making everything about him all the time. He needs to understand that being powerful doesn’t necessarily mean controlling people but being in control of yourself.

I hope we get to see Rumple tell Belle about Bae and that Belle then understands the reason that he “chose” power over her and kicked her out (she’s a smart cookie so I imagine she would catch on). She kept asking Rumple to tell her about his son so I would bet that she would be supportive of him in his quest to find Bae – but I don’t think she will be accepting of his methods if they hurt people. The writers could take their conflict to where Belle tries to show Rumple how he can use his magic in a constructive way to find Bae, however after all those years of competing with Regina and making deals with people that were less than stellar that isn’t going to be natural for him.

On the other hand, Rumple put Belle on a pedestal (literally put her on a pedestal via the teacup) and maybe we have too. The writers have always shown us unexpected and surprising sides of the fairy tale characters we thought we knew, so maybe they will surprise us with Belle too and show us a side of her we aren’t expecting. Maybe she will be so mad at Regina for tricking her and locking her up in both FTL and SB that she will “take Rumple’s side” in their power struggle and won’t have a problem with how he handles things.

I hope Belle gets an upgrade in the shoe department next season. The poor girl was stuck with those hideous blue shoes in FTL and now she has those ugly nurse’s shoes. Just sayin’.
