ParticipantYeah, from the pictures I wondered if the Mad Hatter and August were working together some how. I posted this on another thread about Emma being a woman of magic but I think August added pictures to the book that Emma will need in order to start believing but I’m not exactly sure how August would have known which pages he would have had to have added to the book. If he was aware of Jefferson and of what he wanted to accomplish he may have made a reasonable guess that Jefferson would have made an attempt to get Emma to help him (or he may have even been the one to suggest it). If that was the case then it would make sense that adding pages about the Mad Hatter and Grace/Paige to the book so that Emma would recognize them would be a good idea. Even though I keep going back to the idea of August being either Pinocchio or Peter Pan/a lost boy, I still have this nagging idea that he might somehow be Bae. If he was Bae, the scene at the end with Gold/Regina might almost make sense if August and Gold had been working together somehow but didn’t expect Emma and MM to be able to escape the Mad Hatter quite so quickly. Regina could have expected MM to be the only one missing from the arraignment – while Gold would have been expecting BOTH MM and Emma to be missing, or something.

ParticipantRemember too that August told Henry that although he and Henry believe because they have faith, Emma is someone who needs proof in order to believe. I believe now that August added pages to the book in order to give Emma the proof she needed in order to help her believe. So I think that August has added some things to the book that will definately make Emma stop and think that something is not quite right in SB. The question I have is how August would know what to add. It makes me wonder, yet again – going back to another original theory after going back and forth – if August might be Bae. If Rumple supposedly has the ability to see the future, or at least read people well enough to be able to predict the future, maybe August is Bae’s son and he has inherited Rumple’s ability to either see the future or read people really well. If that is the case then he would know what he would need to add to the book to help Emma realize that the book isn’t just a book of made up stories.
I also wonder if Emma doesn’t necessarily need to be magical in the true sense of the word to have magical abilities to the FTL/SB characters. Emma is the only character so far that bridges FTL, SB, and the real world. So, in a way, if Rumple, Henry, or August can get Emma to believe in the book she would be pretty powerful because of the knowledge she would have and because of the ability she would have to travel between lands (especially now that we have seen the Mad Hatter episode). Like Rumple said at the end of the Heart of Darkness episode she could be more powerful than she knows even if she can’t do any magic in the true sense of the word – especially if the FTL characters can’t do any real magic in SB. And I wonder about that now because of the scene between Mr. Gold and Regina outside the Sheriff’s office last night – if they could do magic, it seems like whatever went wrong, would not have gone wrong.

ParticipantI kind of had the impression that Belle understood who her captor was when Regina was peering at her from outside the door of her “cell” in the looney bin. It looked like there was a look of hatred on Belle’s face when she saw Regina. Now that doesn’t necessarily mean she knows who she is – it could just mean that she hates being locked up and assumes that Regina has something to do with it since presumably Regina has been peering in at her before.
Also, do we know that kissing would be a problem for Mr. Gold and “Belle” in SB? Since Mr. Gold’s status and power in SB seems to be tied to the promises the EQ made to Rumple when he was locked up in his special prison in FTL – for comfort and power, etc. – and not to when he became the Dark One it doesn’t seem to me that kissing him would have any effect on him in SB. If that was the case then kissing should have effected David and MM in SB – which it didn’t. If kissing Mr. Gold were to break a curse – then wouldn’t it be the Dark Curse that the EQ enacted that would be broken?? And I think that we have already proven that kissing doesn’t work on that curse. So I don’t think we have to worry about Belle and Mr. Gold not being able to kiss (please, GOD, let us not have to worry about Belle and Mr. Gold not being able to kiss.)

ParticipantSomething else I thought about and I promise I am NOT trying to make a joke OR be smutty here. Someone mentioned in another post that Regina seemed to be extremely intent on peeling the apple in her office when David came in to talk to her about MM in the last episode. With some of the other crazy stuff they have done on this show so far this wouldn’t be totally off the wall – peeling the apple could be the equivalent of undressing someone with your eyes if your true love has been turned into an apple tree. And if you were in the process of something as intimate as “unpeeling your apple” you would be a bit annoyed to be interrupted if someone barged into your office in the middle of it. I know it sounds totally extreme and off the wall. But so does the fact that Red Riding Hood is also the Big Bad Wolf who ending up eating her own boyfriend. If there is one thing I have learned from watching this show so far it’s don’t write off anything as off limits.

ParticipantI have to admit, this theory is growing on me. And it would make sense considering one of the upcoming episodes is called Apple as Red as Blood. And it adds an interesting twist to the reason EQ would choose to poison an apple to use as a weapon to kill SW. Interesting also that something Mr. Gold does to annoy Regina is to take a single bite out of one of the apples and then toss it over his shoulder onto the ground.

Participantsjm you must have read the same thing I did about the Peter Pan copyright. What I read said that in the US it really hasn’t been an issue and that Disney has used Peter Pan a number of times without any problem.

ParticipantDid anyone else get a brief feeling of regret from Regina in the last episode? When Regina was talking to MM about how she knows what it feels like to lose someone you love and loss can make you do unspeakable things? And then when she told David that evil wasn’t born but made? I felt like in both instances there was a slight hesitation of regret for own heart of darkness. Kind of like she recognizes that she went down a path she shouldn’t have but then her evilness kicked in before there was enough time to really FEEL the regret??

ParticipantJust totally cracked me up that you said it was in a beauty magazine. I thought you were going to say it talked about Rumple’s make-up. Thought to myself, “In a beauty magazine???”. Then I saw it was for EQ and SW. 😆

ParticipantI’m calling that Rumple’s entire plan is to find a way to get Bae back before destroying the curse which will also destroy his own curse forever so that no one else will ever get stuck with it again – essentially doing away with magic.

ParticipantI agree – I’m afraid if we continue I will accidentally stumble upon Rumbelle porn like I did on another site. Boy was that an eye opener. 😯
