hjbau – that drives me CRAZY!! I have also lost a ton of posts that way. I have also gotten kicked out a few times when I have written long posts. I’ve already been logged in – I know I was logged in because I had already posted a few things – wrote something, hit submit, then it tells me to log in and when I do it acts like I haven’t written anything – it’s all gone. But then appearantly some of those miraculously appeared later on! Weird.

That’s my favorite Rumple moment so far on the show. I even LOVE the sound of his leather squeaking when he leans in before he says it – totally cheesy, I know.
I can’t wait to find out more about Rumple/Gold the rest of this season. He is – BY FAR – my favorite character on the show. I honestly believe he is really good at heart. He never understood what he was getting into when he was trying to save Bae from the Ogre wars and he was tricked into becoming the Dark One. My theory is that somehow the curse has to do with Rumple finding a way to destroy his Dark One curse forever so that no one else will ever have to be cursed with it. Afterall, he was horrified when he realized he had killed a human being and the curse was transferred to him. I don’t believe he really likes having the power and magic but I don’t believe he would kill anyone and curse them to his misery the way the previous Dark One cursed him. I think he wants to keep his power and magic only long enough to find a way to get Bae back and then find a way to destroy the curse. And in some ways I even think that if he did something to hurt the EQ before she was the queen I think that he might even be using the curse as a way to make it up to her in the long run, but it will be one of those things that won’t pan out that way until the end of the series. But, like you, I am Rumple biased!! But, Rumple/Gold could also end up the evil/villian, horrible mass murderer of babies and children on the series and I would probably still love him because he’s Robert Carlyle!!

I find it strange that Frederick has been MIA (ha, ha). Like, really, what DID happen to Frederick??? So Catherine (Kathryn?? whatever…) bumps into him at school and I’m assuming doesn’t notice him because she’s too busy heading to slap the hell out of MM. Then we see him driving down the infamous road. So did Catherine ever actually SEE Frederick in Storybrooke?
And the other thing I wonder about Frederick. Did he ONLY appear in Storybrooke after we saw the scene in FTL where Abigail poured the magic water over him and he was un-golded? Was that the same episode where August added the pages to the book? Because I found it strange that it seemed like Catherine and Frederick had never seen each other before until they bumped into each other at school (still don’t think Catherine actually saw Frederick gym teacher), until immediately AFTER we saw him come to life in FTL. Wondered if August maybe added those pages to the book and that was what suddenly made Catherine decide to go to law school and decide she didn’t really love David and wanted to find real love herself?? Just seemed odd that Catherine woke up one morning and decided law school sound like a good idea. The best idea for a job anyone has had in Storybrooke so far has been working at the animal shelter.
Although Rumples immediate reaction when Belle kissed him was to freak out when he learned that EQ had told her that kissing him would break the curse, the more I have watched Skin Deep the less I believe that he chose his power over Belle.
I think that after all those years of living by himself and only being wanted by other people for deal-making, that he and Belle had created somewhat of a “bubble” for themselves living together in the castle for all those months. I think that even though he got Belle in a deal I think he thought of her as totally separate from his magic/power. I doubt she went with him when he went to do any of his deals and he behaved much more humanly around her than he did when he was making deals. And in conversation she talked to him about how he wasn’t a monster and reminded him that he used to be just an ordinary man. So I think in many ways he started to feel very much human around her and started to believe that she actually was falling in love with him. So when he tested her by allowing her to leave and she came back I think he was at his most vulnerable with her when he asked her “Why did you come back?” He’s in shock because he couldn’t believe she would come back but deep down he really hoped she would (and he waited by the window all day!). And then she kisses him and he thinks “OMG she really does love me!” And then she mentions the him changing and the EQ and rips his heart out (no pun intended). I think at that point he is suddenly shocked back into the realization of what he is and is completely and totally emotionally crushed. I’m guessing that later he realized that Belle honestly had no idea who EQ was but he is still horribly, emotionally wounded. So when he tells her that his power is more important than her I think he says that because it is the only thing he has that he can say to purposely hurt her. He has nothing else in his life besides power/magic so the only thing he can use to hurt her with is power/magic. He loves her too much to actually DO something to her so he decides to hurt her emotionally the same way she crushed him emotionally. You know how some people do that? Some one will say something that hurts them and instead of telling the person they were hurt by their comments they will turn around and try to say something even more hurtful back to get even? That’s what I think Rumple did. And that’s why I think he is so guilt ridden over Belle. He really didn’t mean what he said and regrets that he said it. Hence, when EQ tells Rumple that Belle’s father kicked her out he is ready to go get her. Someone pointed out somewhere that Rumple says “So she needs a home?” Not “She needs a place to stay?” or “She has no where to go?” He uses the word “home.” That implies that he was ready to go get her and bring her back “home.” Like they had a fight and he is ready to go make up. Those aren’t the words of someone who is choosing power over someone they love. Now he may have a reason that he needs to remain Dark One Rumple (like to get Bae back) so he might not be able to kiss her but that doesn’t mean that he is choosing his power over Belle. He could have had both if she had approached it better.
Sorry, I posted before I was done because my first post timed out and I had to re-type everything. Regina obviously knew that Graham had started to remember who he was because he had figured out where the vault was where his heart was locked away. It didn’t seem like Catherine had figured out that there was a FTL yet – she just seemed to realize that she and David never really loved each other and was content to just leave. But I wonder if it was inevitable that once she started to change the course of her life in Storybrooke that she would meet Frederick gym teacher and then it would only be a matter of time before she would also start to have flash backs – because Regina was certainly very bothered by the fact that Catherine had decided that she didn’t love David and was leaving, and she is obviously the one behind her disappearance.
I don’t think there are really any “sides” yet. Besides Henry, Mr. Gold, Regina, and August as far as we know no one else knows whats going on so there really isn’t anyone that can be choosing sides yet. As far as Sidney goes, I think he is just the “pet” Regina took on after she killed Graham. I don’t think he chose her side, I think he is really more of a pawn that she is manipulating and he doesn’t even realize it yet because he is into her – just like in FTL where he thought she loved him until after he killed the king and then he realized it was a set-up. I think Gold has his own agenda but I think that ultimately Emma, Henry, AND Regina are all going to somehow figure into that agenda because I think he is into this to destroy his own Dark Curse forever and I think the Dark Curse that Regina inacted may have been needed in order to do it. I think Henry only understands that the people are all fairy tale characters – he doesn’t understand the details of the curse to understand enough to even know what side to really be on and he doesn’t even know who Gold is in FTL at this point yet. And as far as August goes, I think he knows what is going to happen but is there to make sure everything runs the way it is supposed to not necessarily there to be on one side vs. another. I have a few theories about how this is all going to go down and I think the audience is being played a bit.

I don’t think they mean 60 extra minutes. I think they mean that in total they had filmed 60 minutes worth of footage of Rumple and Belle but in order to get it to fit into the one hour time slot including commercials they had to edit out quite a bit of the 60 minutes. So it would be like when they include cut footage on a movie DVD so you can see what they filmed but but weren’t able to include.
