I always feel like the saying is Rumple’s way of warning the person he is talking to not to make the deal with him. But this is also part of my bias toward feeling like Rumple is genuinely good at heart. I think he greatly regrets turning to the Dark One to try to save his son because in the end it caused him nothing but pain (and he lost him son anyway) so he tries to warn everyone he deals with that ultimately the magic won’t be worth it. The problem is that the Dark Side of Rumple gets in the way from truely allowing him to tell whoever he’s dealing with that it will only cause them problems so instead it just comes out as a quick little warning that over time just became his trademark saying.

I think an interesting twist to the show would be for the curse to be broken but for the characters to either choose to remain in Storybrook or be stuck in Storybrook. Would it be so bad to be stuck in Storybrook if Dwarves and Fairies can be in love? Emma could run against Regina in the next Mayoral election! But I agree on the whole happy ending thing. Even Cinderalla and Snow White didn’t seem to be all the happy in FTL
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantFAVORITE MOMENTS:
1.Leroy and MM going door to door selling candles – the expressions on their faces – my 10 year old son and I couldn’t stop laughing.2.When Leroy axed the lights. Actually it was when my son and I both realized at the same time WHY Leroy axed the lights.
LEAST FAVORITE MOMENT:
Maybe it was just me but I was completely perplexed by the whole Belle part. I couldn’t tell if that was supposed to have happend before or after her time with Rumple. At first I assumed it was after because she talked about how love doesn’t always last forever, but I was a bit perplexed because she honestly didn’t seem all that upset (based upon what had just happened in Skin Deep). Then did I just dream (no pun intended) this or did Belle say something like she has been in love so many times that . . . something or other . . .??? That made me wonder if maybe that whole thing with her and Dreamy happened BEFORE her time with Rumple. If not, I’m having serious issues with Belle right now if she is just tossing Rumple into memory lane with all her many ex-boyfriends. I had the impression when she was talking to Rumple at his castle that she had never been in love before. Like I said, I’m totally perplexed and, honestly a bit concerned, because right now I’m not feeling all that happy toward Belle. I’m actually feeling like Rumple might be able to do much better as far as girlfriends go – like maybe a trial subscription to Match.com might find him a better catch.March 2, 2012 at 9:34 pm in reply to: Why do Regina/EQ and Gold/Rumple REALLY continue to “play” o #138073rumplegoldfankristiParticipantI think the green scaly skin and rotting teeth helps my husband to be understanding about my obsession – I don’t think he feels threatened by a character that he considers to be “creepy” and sub-human. He actually worked for an hour to find a way to get a very specific Rumple giggle as the text message tone on my phone.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipanthjbau, I like your theory the best. He’s just some guy. That’s what I’m going with.
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantMaybe they drank the tea. Just kidding.
Good question. I hadn’t thought about that. Didn’t EQ in some episode make a comment about how everyone at the palace was still loyal to Snow? I don’t remember which episode that was in but I’m almost positive she said that at some point. Gosh, darn it now I’m gonna have to back and watch them all again until I find it. There must be some episode that it is going to deal with how EQ convinced everyone that Snow killed her father? Since she had the Wanted posters with Snow’s pictures on them that seem to imply that she had murdered her father?
Once thing I will say about this show is the farther you get into it, the more holes you discover and the more you realize there is missing from the backstory. I am in the process of re-watching the episodes with my son to get him caught up and he has said a few times that it is a bit confusing – but he’s 10 so sometimes I have to rewind or go back to other episodes so he remembers stuff.

I’m confused about why he wouldn’t have have told her suck lemons and be on her way after how she screwed things up with Belle – so there is something seriously going on with the origins of that that curse.
And on a side note – so nice to know I’m not alone in my “admiration” for Mr. Carlyle. I was logged on to Twitter during his Q/A session on Wednesday while my son was at practice and everyone was wondering why I was so intense. No luck this time in getting a response but I was able to assure everyone that there is no “cougaring” going on like with some of the Twilight moms. I’m almost 40 and he’s 50, so I believe that makes it a respectable celebrity crush (although I’m sure he’s much more impressed by the 16 year olds who are drooling all over him!!).

While I love both actors dearly and think both are the best on the show, Regina/EQ is the character I love to hate and Rumple/Gold is the character I, in a word, obsess over (in a healthy middle aged way). So the thought of the two of them together would make me want to barf. Although I will concede that they do seem to have an impeccable sense of fashion in common in both FTL and in Storybrooke. Of course Robert Carlyle looks good in a plastic apron holding a shovel in the middle of the forest . . .
March 2, 2012 at 4:49 pm in reply to: The two sides of Rumplestiltskin and the Balance of Power #138042rumplegoldfankristiParticipantHas anyone gone back and watched the EQ make her tea? Someone please humor me and go back and watch it. Like I said, I don’t know if I buy that she’s doing a spell but, seriously, what the heck IS she doing???? That is the most flamboyant display of preparing a cup of tea I have ever seen. And then when poor Rumple wants to know what tragedy has befallen dear Belle, suddenly EQ is all coy, sucking on her teaspoon like “Are you talking too little ‘ol me?”. I think it may be the most bizarre background action I’ve ever seen. Is she shoeing away horse flies?? The pot wasn’t steaming so I don’t think she needed to do gymnastics to wave away the steam. Tossing her sugar cubes in from a distance as target practice?? Creative wrist action whilst squeezing her lemon?? Then after all that, SHE DOESN’T EVEN DRINK THE FREAKING TEA.
This has been driving me CRAZY!!!!!!
rumplegoldfankristiParticipantHe was supposed to be drunk in the scene where he went to get James so I think that is why he was so mellow – and if I recall I think he had just had a conversation with the King about how magic can’t resurrect the dead referring to Belle which is why he was drinking so he was supposed to be depressed and drunk. I think some of the issue is that since the timeline jumps around so much it gets really hard to keep straight what has happened before and after each episode and especially with Rumple’s character there is a lot that has happened that changes his personality. It’s funny that you brought that up with the writing because this is a question that I keep sending to RC on his Twitter sessions but that with all the thousands of questions he gets I haven’t been lucky enough to get answered yet. I asked him in a much more concise 140 words how they give him direction on how to portray scenes since the timeline jumps around so much and he is sometimes filming episodes where he has to be reacting to things that have happened in episodes that won’t be shot for several episodes in the future. I wanted to know how far in advance they know what is going to happen for their preparation.
