KeymasterEver read the books?
Ah, now it makes sense. Lev Grossman’s, right? I didn’t put 2 and 2 together — the books constantly pop up on my Amazon “you might like this too” feed. Are they worth it? With the show, I actually like the plot and some of the dialogues are witty, but oh ye gods, the acting is just cringeworthy and the editing is super weird and choppy. Syfy shows are kind of hit or miss, though — the Expanse works really well, though it’s also an adaptation from a book series. Also, why is it that shows about, at least at some level, grad school culture all seem to be written by high school students imagining life in college? Anyway, maybe I’ll check out the books, after I’m done with Jemesin’s the 5th Season, which I’m really enjoying so far (have you read it?).
The books are radically different both in plot and some themes. The TV show tends to stick to some tropes that Lev Grossman LOLs at and dismisses as part of his point. I think you’d like them.
Also, have not read 5th Season. I’ll check it out!
Anyway, is anyone else watching the new “A Series Of Unfortunate Events” series on Netflix? Its pretty good. Although I think I prefer Jim Carrey’s Count Olaf to Neil Patrick Harris. He’s good. But eh.
Yes I’ve watched. I’ve never seen the Jim Carey one in full but I think NPH is dynamite.

KeymasterI could see them aging up Henry for an episode or two but I don’t think his character can carry the show. Apart from being kidnapped and being “the believer/Author” he’s not much of a character. No matter what ideas we seem to come up with the consensus is that it’s time to end this.

KeymasterI think Moana is a long shot–the movie is still *really* new (like, still in theaters new). And like Matt said, the cast call does say Native American and A and E would come under some (deservedly) heavy fire if they called for a Native American to play a Polynesian.

KeymasterI’ve started watching The Magicians — totally brainless fun, with occasionally decent, but equally often just plain terrible acting.
Ever read the books?
Like @kranen, most of my shows are returning sooner rather than later but in the meantime
–Did a total rewatch of the West Wing (probably my 5th time through the series)
–Shows that are already back like Sherlock, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, and trying Emerald City
–Currently watching A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix (so good!)
–Tried to watch 3% and gotta sorta…bored? I may pick it back up.

KeymasterThat’s what I am thinking. Spread it over a 6/7 split and have Bobby pop in and out as Past Rumple since he’s always been so integral to the Enchanted Forest machinations.
If they do go the truncated final Season route of only 13 episodes, the may choose to only air it for either Fall or Spring. That was what Lost did for its last few Seasons.
And that would give them time to test out a new replacement–like maybe that show based on Disney theme parks (or something…???) we heard about

KeymasterI think A and E care about the fans SO LONG AS the fans praise the show. These two have *never* been good at listening to criticism and moreover understanding that criticism. When criticism does come their way, they tend to dismiss it quickly with “we hope you like what we have coming!” or “sorry you feel that way!” Some of this is because their only interactions with fans are in Twitter form where meaningful dialogue is limited to a 140 characters. But a lot of it comes back down to certain white heterosexual male conditioning that they do no wrong and instead it’s the viewers who simply “don’t get it” (it being their vision, their ideas, their story.)

KeymasterIf OUAT gets renewed for a final S7 I can see it being a simple 13 episode season. Bobby could come back for 3-4 of those with Emilie or something.

KeymasterAs long as Tiger Lily’s role isn’t just as a scorned lover/jilted ex then I’m sorta down for whatever. I just can’t stand the idea of bringing in another female character who’s only purpose is as a love interest.
