KeymasterI’m thinking that perhaps Hyperion Heights exists in one such of these worlds. That’s how its 2017 there, that explains why they can’t get to Storybrooke (if its in another world).
That’s interesting. That would explain that bizarre comment from Regina (not to mention other oddities like Robyn being an 18 yr old). But I think it unlikely to actually happen that way–I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with this:
It will be 2017 in HH because it is. With no explanation.

Keymaster. Either way, because it is in existence now, the people there have to have a past and that past would have to include things that could have happened had the curse not happened
Yes but I think the rub is that having memories of something that happened doesn’t actually mean that it happened. This happens all the time in our non-TV reality but usually only that we’ve misrembered something to the point of believing our mis-memory is truth (ie: something like the Mandela effect)
I have no issue with Nook having memories of a life with Alice because it matches pretty neatly with the way things worked in SB during the Original Curse; think about Lacey–in reality Belle was locked up below the hospital unaware of anything but as soon as Regina gave her the persona of Lacey suddenly she had a whole slew of memories about what kind of person she was. So Nook having memories of a life with Alice isn’t a big deal but it’s the idea that these memories actually, literally happened on a definitive timeline is less okay.
And as a side note I wouldn’t have a problem with this reality of memory–other, more nuanced sci-fi/fantasy shows can play with that. A show like Westworld is all about memory and its relation to reality and identity. But OUAT isn’t trying to parse out those tricky topics. They need a…cheap answer, for wont of a better word. They need Nook to have had an actual past with Alice because without out his character has no arc so therefore, they don’t explore what the Wish Realm actually is, how it works, and how memories and experiences inside the Wish Realm work.

KeymasterIs the two part series finale like a “vacation through the greatest hits” or something..?

KeymasterOnce Upon a Time ……………. 0.496 … (0.550 … 0.442)
This is a trend we’ve seen for awhile. I’d really like to know what makes people turn off half way through (I mean, not that it matters anymore)

KeymasterKinda surprised at Giles since they could have used Gideon to remind Rumple that he still has something to live for.

KeymasterI’m guessing Gothel is the killer now. I just don’t know what her motive is. Maybe killing off the witches gives her more power?
I also think it must be something along those lines. I guess the better question is: what does she want to do with all that power? Is this still all about Madame Leota or is there something else?

KeymasterStill pretty sure EF2 and Wish Realm are 2 separate worlds that Hook is travelling back and forth from.
Okay, yes. The timeline makes a little more sense now but now I’m bothered by the whole world hopping thing. But I guess it’s just much easier than it used to be.

Keymaster*tilts head*
I thought this would be an Alice centric episode?

KeymasterGENERAL: I actually quite liked this episode. It was entertaining and it felt like it was keeping its characters in mind instead of making up new information about them that ruin that which has come before. Hook, no matter which version, is obsessive and self-destructive because of that obsession.
8/10
LIKED
–“It’s not like she’s an actual witch.” says the pirate to the imp.
–Gothel is so delightfully menacing; her conversations with Nook in the police station really stood out. She’s much more villainous than Rapunzel ever was.
–“It’s a dangerous thing to call me ‘old man'” I laughed a little too loud at that one.
–Pitting Nook and Ahab against each other was smart; both our fictional Nook and the literary Ahab have a tendency to get obsessive over their “white whales”.
–I really *really* like Alice. It’s a rare thing when this show can introduce a character that I wish had been around for a lot longer.
–Filed under “Things RG will miss when this show is no longer on air:” Bobby Carlyle’s magnificent performance as Dark One Rumplestiltskin.
–“Read it? I lived it.” I got surprisingly emotional at this….is this going to keep happening as we get closer to the end?
MIXED
–My complicated feelings on Nook: when Hook (the original) was introduced in S2 I didnt care much for him. He was smarmy and gross and I didn’t like the way he treated Emma and others. The only time I warmed up to him was when the narrative aligned him with Baelfire in the S2 finale. Suddenly, Hook made sense; he wasn’t a romantic interest but he was the “Wicked Witch” to Baelfire and just like Emma would be the one to help bring Snow and Regina back together and find forgiveness so too would Baelfire help heal the rift between Hook and Rumple. Obviously, things didn’t really work out that way. But the writers, knowing that there’s a good portion of their audience who tired of Hook as a romantic lead, have taken his WishRealm!Hook (Nook) back to his original storyline by making him a father trying to find forgiveness with a child. It’s a smart move because it give Hook lovers another version of Hook and it gives non Hook lovers a chance to see the character as something more. I just wish the actual plot–like babies born of flowers to witches with no sense of consent–made more sense/wasn’t so icky.
DISLIKED
–Someone wanna explain the timeline? Because Wish Realm Rumple was let go when we first visited the Wish Realm back in S6 and Alice was born *after* the Curse was supposed to be cast in the EF2, if I recall. So A) Why is Rumple in jail at all and B) Is this the Wish Realm or is this the EF 2 The tower is in EF2 so…?
–So Nook lived in the tower without going out and being a pirate for like 8 yrs but never once did he buy himself some non pirate clothing? Ok, sure.
–Jacinda and Henry have so little chemistry that I actually found myself drawn more to Henry and Ivy and their connection.
–The doll, Beatrice, is creeeeeeepy.
