Rumple except in (questionable) mention is a bit sad. I wish they’d actually try to integrate him into the main story in some capacity. It seems like his story is now completely divorced from the rest of the crew at this point.
Given that Rumple played a HUGE part in making Emma the Savior, you’d think he’d have more to do this season besides slowly destroy his romantic relationship.

ABC is in serious danger because a 1.0 (OUAT) was the third highest demo’d drama of the week, just behind Grey’s (2.1) and HTGAWM (1.2)
Every other drama was fractional.

The only wiggle room they have is that we only saw small portions of Jafar’s life so there are big gaps; they’ve chosen to fill those big gaps with this story but I agree that Jafar dropping everything to go be a Vizier in the capital of Agrabah doesn’t match the Jafar who was relentless in his pursuits of his revenge.

And the added element of Rumple’s manipulations; she wouldn’t be the Savior, at least not in the way S1 understood her and the way Emma talks about herself, without Rumple putting a drop of that TL potion on the curse. She’s not just the Savior because she’s a good person, it’s her entire makeup. She’s still True Love Incarnate and I feel like they can’t possibly cut that away without undermining everything they’ve set up about Emma.
