I can see them using the compass again. I think the compass is more significant than the giant wearing it. Maybe they’ll use it when they’re done with NL and have to go to another land.

1) Just after the Curse is broken and everyone is off finding loved ones and hiding from the Wraith2) That portal opens later in the season of OUAT but still in the pilot of OUATinWL, and it opens after Snow and Charming and Emma go to the mines to help Regina and everyone in the diner leaves to tell the town what the Charmings are going to do.

Nah. I think this is a suspension of disbelief thing. And it’s not a necklace like a woman might wear. He just has it on him, his person for safekeeping.

They were hoarders. Anton in particular seemed enamored of humans and their things. I think he kept the compass as a reminder of what he lost.
