How far back are we going and does it have to be magic travel or even fairy tale travel because you’ll always find classic example like Gilgamesh or Odysseus or Aeneas who travel to the underworld/netherworld in their epics.
You could argue that the magical world of Harry Potter is different from the human world of London and is accessible via Kings Cross or Diagon Alley.
There is also Narnia which is accessible via the wardrobe (or Aslan simply pulls you over cause he’s awesome like that). In Voyager of the Dawn Treader (4th book in the series, I believe) they visit LOTS of new worlds.

I go back and forth about how this will end. Either, everyone that’s not Core Cast stays in SB and we see them very infrequently. OR somehow everyone who is not Core Cast gets transported back to FTL to recolonize their home world and we still only see them occasionally.

It does look that way. I suppose everyone who is not core cast stays in SB and guards it against further outsiders? I still doubt we’ll see much of SB in S3.

I like Rumplestiltskin, in every iteration. Whether he is the coward of A Desperate Soul or at his most Dark One crazy self in The Thing You Love Most.
And what I said in my post is that he needs to be the active agent who makes a decision to change. But no one in this world is alone, and we all deserve help from those we love. He can do it with Bae and Belle by his side, but the choice must be his.

What I want to know is why is he able to kiss Belle in Storybrooke without breaking the Dark One curse as started to happen when she kissed him at his castle?

I believe it’s because magic works differently here. TLK can wake you up from a sleeping curse, but it can’t break something as dramatic as the Dark One’s Curse.

Thanks for posting! So, I think this scene happens after Baelfire is pulled from the sea but before Captain Hook interviews the boy. I think after Hook learns Bae’s identity is when he decides to make the boy part of his crew. As Milha’s son, Bae is Hook’s last link to his lost love. As Rumple’s son, Bae is the key to potentially taking down his enemy, Rumplestiltskin. So, Hook will want to keep Bae for himself once he learns his true identity.

I get the feeling this is the opening shot of the episode.
Yes, learning who Bae is will change Hook’s initial plan.

Really? I don’t agree. If we look at their addiction to magic like any other addiction, are we saying it’s always hopeless. Can an alcoholic literally never be in the same room as a bottle without giving in? It’s self control. They have to learn that too. They have to learn that they can’t use magic to solve all their problems and then resist the urge to use it to get what they want.

I agree that an alcoholic can regain self-control and not drink, but that’s my point. They must abstain from alcohol completely to make sure they don’t ever lose control again. At AA meetings, they say that any recovered alcoholic is still an alcoholic; they cannot every drink alcohol again or else they will lose control. The problem for Regina is that she is a magicaholic. She cannot do magic, or else it will consume her. As for Rumple, he can’t not be dark, because he is the Dark One; it’s actually apart of his nature. So, he needs a cure.

I do know what you’re saying but in some ways I think we may be comparing apples to oranges (my fault, I brought it up). Changing gears: from a story telling perspective, having Rumple and Regina give up magic entirely puts all the magical doings squarely on the shoulders of Emma, who hasn’t mastered anything yet and needs to be properly trained. (now granted another wizard or what not could show up to teach her, but since we don’t know that to be the case…let’s stick with what we have, yes?) I think diminishing the amount of magical characters on this show might be ill advised. Emma has to learn somehow. And even if Rumple is teaching her, so long as he remembers what it was like to lose Bae and Belle and he has both of them, I think he can fight it. The reason he went so dark recently was because he felt he had lost so much, again. The same with Regina. She went dark after she realized she was “losing” Henry (whether or not she was is debatable) and then after she lost her mother (who totally deserved it in my eyes, but not in Regina’s.) If they can come together as a family, work together, keep each other strong then I don’t see why the two of them can’t try to fight on the good side using their magic.
